Spécialités

Local ice cream, made right here in Victoria by Island Farms. We offer 15 flavours, all the classics plus some unique ones like our best-seller Sea Salt Caramel! Old-fashioned milkshakes can be made with any flavour in the case, our staff recommends Cookies and Cream with Mint Chocolate Chip. Floats can also be made with one of our 5 soda selections and any flavour. We have a dairy-free sorbet provided by Mario’s Gelati in Vancouver. For soft-serve, we have vanilla, chocolate and swirl. We also offer sundaes with hot fudge, chocolate, strawberry, caramel, blueberry and pineapple! Customers can also add peanuts or sprinkles to any sundae or soft-serve cone. For those preferring a more tart refreshing treat, we have frozen lemonade!

Historique

Fondé en 2006.

Jackson Avio grew up on Vancouver Island. After traveling overseas for fourteen years, he came home in 2004 and had a dream to build a Float Home. Fisherman’s Wharf in Victoria was the perfect location. He quickly began building the home from an old family boat in Maple Bay, B.C. After completion and towing it into Fisherman’s Wharf, he converted it into a one of a kind floating Ice Cream Store. Last season was our 10^th anniversary serving delicious ice cream and we look forward to 10 more years!

Even though it was cold and rainy outside, I could still go for some local ice cream. Jackson’s Ice Cream spot is located out on the Fisherman’s Wharf on the south side of downtown Victoria. The hours weren’t listed anywhere, but this place is definitely closed up when it gets dark in the fall time. There is plenty of parking up top for people visiting the wharf and seating really close by to enjoy your food. Jackson only serves quality Island Farms ice cream and they have two freezer cases full of flavors. Along with scooped ice cream they also serve soft serve and slushy type drinks. For two scoops in a cup it was about 5 CAD, which is a pretty damn good deal. The scoops of ice cream here are pretty generous too. I went with moose tracks/cookies&cream (
) in a cup. The ice cream is just creamy enough with not a very over sugary taste. The stuff I’m use to back home has a lot more sugar than this did. My friend also enjoyed her vanilla/coconut ice cream (
) saying it was one of the better coconuts flavors she’s had. You can’t go wrong with enjoying some ice cream in the cold, great view of the bay too.

Come to Fisherman’s Wharf and pick up delicious ice cream from Jackson’s Ice Cream! Despite being at a tourist attraction, Jackson’s Ice Cream comes in a decent portion and most importantly, superb quality. No matter which type (cone, sundae, etc.) of ice cream you get, you will be able to taste the creaminess!
Ugh, I still yearn to relive that relaxing moment of me eating Jackson’s Ice Cream under the beautiful sunset at Fisherman’s Wharf…
Anyway, if you are having a hard time choosing, go for the salted caramel or the hot fudge sundae!

Delicious ice-cream flavors including banana-toffee and sea salt caramel. Because of the touristy location at Fisherman’s wharf the prices are elevated but the scoops are dizeable, the quality is good and hence this is all-in-all a good icecream experience!

I’m kind of astounded this place doesn’t have more reviews. The ice cream is excellent. The people working there were nice. The Fisherman’s Wharf area is very cool — there’s some places to eat, floating houses, commercial boats. There’s a very kid friendly park that shares the parking lot.
We actually ate there twice in a three day trip to Victoria — the second time because we took the ferry to Port Angeles and were early and realized that we might as well hang out at the park and then get some ice cream on the way out. Very pleasant!

I went with some friends yesterday to fisherman’s wharf and after reading all these reviews from here, we decided we should try some ice cream. I had a scoop of maple walnut ice cream in a waffle cone and tried the salted caramel ice cream too. Both were delicious! Maple walnut had a really nice nutty flavour and it wasn’t too sweet.
The staff was super nice and quick.
I will definitely go again!

How I heard of this place: We knew we had to make it to Fisherman’s Wharf to view the Floating Village at some point before the end of our weekend getaway, and Jackson’s just happened to be staring us in the face when we arrived! It was a well-deserved treat after a long day of biking 10 km, walking miles on end arriving at the west end of Laurel Point for sunset.
Type of cuisine: «Serving sixteen flavours of scooped Ice Cream, Gelato Sorbetto, Frozen Yogurt and the best Soft Ice Cream you will find anywhere. All products are locally made. Open 11:30 till dark all summer long.»
Ambiance: «Jackson’s is located on the dock at #1 Dallas Rd. Fisherman’s Wharf. Victoria’s only floating Ice Cream store!.. Cool down with the perfect summer treat while enjoying the casual atmosphere and always friendly service!»
What I ordered: My husband chose the chocolate-vanilla mix soft serve Sundae (CAD$ 4) with chocolate and caramel sauces, while I indulged in the waffle cone (CAD$ 3.75) stuffed with half-scoops each of Maple Walnut and Caramel Praline.
What I loved: Creaminess. Sweet. Buttery. Ice. Cream.
Why I loved it: It’s the perfect setting to walk up, choose an ice cream flavor (or two) and meander along the piers, taking in the sites of the floating homes, sunset in the marina and a friendly sea otter swimming up to greet passerby.
Cost: Low (CAD$ 2.75 — CAD$ 5.75 per ice cream concoction, including floats and shakes)

Service was nice. Salty Carmel is their biggest seller and we found out why. Just amazing. Other flavors were so-so thus not five stars but well worth the nice stroll from the city center to pier.

I could not love Jackson’s Ice Cream Float more than I do! On a Labour Day long weekend trip to Victoria, my fiancé and I and our dog walked from downtown to Fisherman’s Wharf. It was warm and sunny and ice cream would have been perfect at that moment.
Jackson’s dished up soft serve but also carried some of my favourite Island Farms flavours. The staff were super friendly and scooped with a smile. And even better? I noticed that frozen dog treats were on Jackson’s menu, so I was able to get a little cup of pup-friendly peanut butter «ice cream» for our dog.
Jackson’s is a classic ice cream stand that lives up to the charming reputation you’d expect.

I had to try the ice cream on the wharf while we were in town. It seemed like a cool experience. The ice cream shop is floating in the water and you stand on the dock to order and then can sit on picnic tables and enjoy the ocean view. I had a waffle cone with cookies and cream ice cream and was shocked by the size of a single scoop. I can’t imagine ordering a double! Everything tasted great and the service was quick and friendly.
