We went to try out a Korean restaurant while we were in Victoria. We saw two young Korean couples who were in the restaurant, but no other people. Prices are usually higher for Korean food, and this place was no exception. When I saw yukhwae bibimbap on the menu, I knew this place was the real deal. You don’t serve yukhwae bibimbap unless you are authentic. This particular dish has raw ground beef mixed with a raw egg over the usual bibimbap dish. I used to order this in Koreatown in LA, but with all the E. coli poisonings these days, I haven’t ordered this in a very long time. I decided on a dolsot bibimbap instead. Service was quick, and the food was very good. We did not get a lot of banchan dishes, though. I did not see a lot of customers in the restaurant, but I suppose it is because the people in Victoria are not familiar with Korean food. If you want authentic Korean food, this is definitely a good option, although not the only option in the area.

I hope more people start leaving reviews for this place, because otherwise people like me who base their restaurant choices on Unilocal reviews would never find this awesome hole-in-the-wall. I ordered the jjamppong which was delicious, huge, and generous with the seafood. My dining companion ordered the tofu hot pot which was also good. Totally recommend!

Korean comfort food Try the tasty hot pot bi bim bap and soba noodles. The food compares favourably to Bay Area Korean Restaurants. Service staff is a bit disorganized but extremely friendly.

I did not try sushi here but other korean plates like spicy beef soup and spicy seafood noodles are really the best you can get in Victoria. Service was prompt and polite.
