Marriott Victoria Inner Harbour

We stayed here during our honeymoon, and were very happy with the experience. The room was comfy, cute, and spacious. The bed was phenomenal. The location is unbeatable. You can walk to the harbor area within minutes, and the dining and nightlife areas are also short walks away. This is no secret, as the hotel seemed utterly full during our entire stay. Valet parking is surprisingly cheap for a downtown hotel, and the self parking option is also quite easy. If you’re spending any length of time in Victoria, it is good to have a car, by the way. The front desk and maid service was quite good, as well. I’d happily stay here again whenever we visit again.

First time in Victoria. Wow, I want to move here. This review is about the hotel though!
Where to begin. The room comes equipped with a huge bed. The pillows actually have some substance unlike the usual ‘7 pillows = 1 decent pillow’ ratio. The room i was in had a private balcony (pictured). Great room! Water pressure was a little lacking, but I was on the 14^th floor so it could be due to that.
Concierge room: The hotel has a concierge room that is always a great place to go for coffee and to check intermittently to see what goodies theyve laid out. One day I got there right in time for ‘dessert’ and it was great!
Wifi: I used the high speed option while there and I’m glad I did. Since I was roaming my phone was only usable when connected to wifi. Also important for planning car related trips outside the hotel!
1 downside: I’m not sure if they were having issues with the elevators but generally it was a 4 – 5 minute wait every time before the elevator showed up. I thought I was imagining it at first but numerous hotel patrons made comments about it whenever they’d be getting on. «Finally, I told you we should have just walked up.» and things of that nature.
Seriously though, great hotel and if the elevators are the biggest complaint, I’ll take it!

Beautiful hotel! Quick check-​in especially when doing the mobile check-​in on their app. My room was a 2 double-​bed city view. The washroom looked elegant. Parking is $ 16 in their lot if you park yourself.

Nice full service hotel in a convenient location in Victoria to get to all of the sights! The staff was very friendly, the bed was super comfortable, but the shower pressure was limited and the hot water ran out when I was taking a shower at 7am… a little disappointing. Overall, a great place to stay while visiting!

This is the best Marriott there is out there… I can’t give 5 stars since it won’t be fair for the 5 stars hotels I reviewed… Has a concierge level, which is similar to Ritz Carlton club level, although not the same food of course… Housekeeping was very prompt in the morning. Location is just behind the Empress hotel, a block away from the waterfront. Concierge also wonderful, got reservation for us on short notice. Marble bathroom… Sort of unheard of for Marriott, definitely not the concierge level… I would give it 4.5, short of the 5 star level… Can’t go wrong with it… Wonderful experience… Oh yes… Great views from the room… You can even see Olympic peninsula from the room in a clear day… (Or the concierge club)…

Great place to stay while in Victoria. It is right in the middle of everything. Tons of shops nearby and the people who work here are amazing! They make sure you have everything you need. This is our second time in Victoria and our second time staying here and we love it! They make sure each room has the Victorian feel to it.

Stayed there one night this past weekend with my wife and this was a fantastic hotel with professional staff. Will definitely stay again next time I am in Victoria.

This was our third trip to Vic and we have stayed at this property every time. Actually, the first time, we started in a place more mid town. Do yourself a favor and stay in the inner harbor. You can walk to everything. The staff are ridiculously nice here and very attentive. The hotel is clean and quiet. The indoor pool, steam-​room and and jacuzzi provide a great respite at the end of a grueling day touring the inner harbor.

Great Marriott property really close to everything you’d want to see in Victoria by the harbor. Comfortable rooms with excellent staff. Highly rated restaurant but we never ate there

It is a rear case of a Marriott hotel that doesn’t feel as a formal cookie-​cutter chain hotel. I don’t know what was the reason, most likely the friendly and attentive personnel. Upon the check-​in, all room arrangements were done very quickly and efficiently.
The only small disappointment from the personnel was that the lady at the front-​desk said (in response to the reservation request «room with a nice view») that they had only «city views», and there are no specifically good views, while that turned out not to be quite true: One side of the hotel does face the harbour (albeit that it can be seen only from the upper floors — see the photo by Unilocaler (s) JoeandKAri C.), and there are mountain views even from the 9^th floor as can be seen in the photos of Steven H. here on Unilocal). I understand that the rooms with better views might not have been available, or not available for the relatively lower rate that we paid, but I was disappointed by the false statement.
Overall, enjoyed our 4-​day stay in late May of 2014.
NIce:
— very convenient location within walking distance to most destinations,
— free wi-​fi (but insufficient bandwidth),
— nice sound isolation between rooms (but not between the room and the corridor),
— great friendly and attentive personnel,
— quick room cleaning with attention to detail,
— high quality set of shampoo/​conditioner/​shower gel/​soap items,
— bathrobes in the room, spacious room,
— very comfortable pillows,
— free refrigerator upon request.
Could be better:
— very few and hard to reach power outlets (especially near the bed) [21^st century!]
— wi-​fi capacity is insufficient: in the evening, when everybody comes to the rooms, it was slow beyond tolerable. [21^st century!]
— restaurant is overpriced and so-​so in quality,
— parking is very expensive ($ 16/​day for self-​park!), and it got full Saturday night, and this is on top of the quiet expensive rooms.
— the «bar cooler» in the room is useless and is just taking the space inside that piece of furniture. A real refrigerator would be a welcome (permanent) replacement.

We stayed 4 days, from ⁵⁄₁₇ — 5/​20, and it was a great experience.
Stephen, a concierge, was able to tell us how far of a walk it would be to various places. After getting idea of what we were looking for he also provided us with a couple of suggestions. He also assisted us by booking a package trip with transportation to the butterfly gardens and Butchart Gardens.
Matthew, a concierge, spent some time talking to us on a couple of occasions in the 16^th floor concierge lounge; he was interested in feedback regarding the places that we visited — stores, restaurants, attractions.
Regarding our accommodations at the Marriott, we are Marriott Gold members and stayed on the 16^th floor in a corner suite that had its own outdoor patio with quite the view.

Great service (really; cheery, very kind and helpful) and fantastic location. Unfortunately the only Marriott I’ve been in (it’s our preferred business account), that doesn’t have free coffee in the lobby.

I really enjoyed my stay! I took the 5 freeway on the drive from L.A. Up through Oregon, Washington and into The mainland of British Columbia just south of Vancouver!(it can be done in around 17 hours) but stopped in Salem, Or on the way up (12 hours).
We boarded the ferry at Swasson sp? And it took approx 2 hours to arrive near Victoria. This ferry was like a huge ship! Lots of fun! Getting «lost» on the ferry and the views were amazing! It was about a 20 minute drive south to Victoria from where the ferry left us.(We could have taken a shorter route from Seattle, but the longer ferry ride made it worth it!)The Marriott staff was there to greet us, show us to our rooms & told us about attractions to see on our stay.
Sleep was the first thing on our minds at the time & wow! The beds were sooo comfortable!!! Unbelievable! Slept great with the exception of a little street noise several stories below, but that soon ended.
The next morning we woke up refreshed and ready to explore this quant international city. I must inform you that the breakfast is not all complimentary, but not overly priced either! I think if you made your own toast it might have been free. The cooked ham was my favorite! They have another small bar and restaurant near the lobby also. Overall, the staff was friendly, helpful and clean. I would highly recommend this hotel & the trip to Victoria. Next time I think I will fly to Seattle or Vancouver.

This is a fairly small hotel, for a Marriott, but that’s good! Small is nice and personal.
The rooms were pretty quiet — we didn’t hear noise in other rooms, and traffic noise isn’t bad for being in the city.
Super friendly and helpful staff all over the place. Every time we got into the elevator and a staff member was there, they took over the elevator operation and were amazingly gracious.
Free wifi in the rooms — kept the kiddo happy.
Just a few cons — beds were too hard for me and there was an unfortunate sliver of light that fell across the pillows on the bed even with the drapes pulled shut. That tiny amount of light at 5:22 am was enough to wake me up.
Parking is $ 16/​day. The parking garage is pretty small and narrow in spots, so if you have a large car, you may have trouble.
Overall, pretty nice place within walking distance of lots of things downtown.

This hotel has a great location, very nice rooms for the price and good service. Our A/​C unit was noisy. They sent someone right up to fix it. When the problem was not resolved they offered to switch our rooms.
On our last night we ordered room service and I got the cheesecake. The menu did not designate a flavor. Turned out it was bananna chocolate. Yuck! I called down and they had a vanilla crème brule at my door in 5 minutes.
That sort of service can not be beat.

Location was awesome. Room was good. Decent fitness room. No complaints here. Would stay here again next time I am in Victoria for some more sightseeing~

I actually forgot my cellphone charger cable, and looked all over downtown (at 9pm) but couldn’t find one, and I desperately needed one. Lenny the person behind the checkin desk actually let me borrow his for a day (he saved the day)!!!
They were very accommodating when I had to extend my stay twice.

Spent an early spring weekend in Victoria, my first time visiting the city and this was where I stayed. The rooms were comfortable and although I was worried about noise due to being in a room close to the elevators, it was quiet at night. The Wi-​Fi is a bit slow but it is free so it worked just fine for keeping up with email and looking up someplace to eat for dinner.
We ate at the hotel’s restaurant for breakfast, the buffet seems the better value. Parking costs extra but street parking is impossible so budget for the extra $ 16 CDN that will cost. The entire Harbor area is easily walkable from the hotel location.

Why is it that Marriotts can be so modern on the outside and so frumoy on the inside? That aside, this is a comfortable and clean hotel. The beds are comfortable, but not like those in Starwood’s hotels. The location is very good, a short walk from the inner harbor. The free wifi was fairly fast. The concierge was knowledgeable and friendly.
A cleaning rag left in the shower by housekeeping was disposed of quickly and in a friendly manner. We did not try the food options. Loved the 9^th floor corner balcony with magnificent views of the Olympic peninsula in Washington, especially at dusk.
I would stay here if visiting Victoria again.
