Village Taphouse

Hostess staff not friendly. They told us there was a 15 – 20 minute wait when there was clearly lots of tables open and the party of 2 in front of my boyfriend and I were sat promptly after walking in. There were also quite a few tables that had not been cleared yet. So I don’t see how it’s a 15 – 20 minute wait. Very disappointed. Since we only had 30 minutes to grab a quick drink we were not willing to wait 20 minutes to be sat… Quite impossible.

basic pub food and some food that’s a bit more elevated. i ordered the nachos, (they can make u a half portion. best i’ve had in a long time!) my pal ordered burger. huge portions, yummy and great value. music really too loud but that’s pubs for u. i want to try their thin crust pizza next as few places make it well.

Village Taphouse is the place to go if you want to watch sports and have a casual lunch with friends. Their sierra salad is amazing and huge! Nice place to have lunch and go shopping in Park Royal after.

Lunch today was amazing! The Chicken Lettuce Wraps are a large portion, very filling appie. The Asian flavours combined with crisp lettuce were so delicious. I am a connoisseur of Beef Dip and this one was right up there in terms of tasty au jus and tender meat. Plus the pile of fries that came with was huge. The atmosphere is pub-​like but seemed to be family-​friendly. I bet it would be a fun place to watch the Canucks or Lions play.

Amazing food at a reasonable price! Everything we had was delicious! We started with the Sunday Caesars with olives!!! (A+)… Then we shared the seafood chowder. It was very fresh tasting and perfect consistency. (A+). Lastly, we shared the prime rib special. Very thing on the plate was amazing! (A+)
Try this place, you will NOT be disappointed! :)

The lighthouse over the restaurant is very cool. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. We came in on a Sunday and there was walls of TV’s playing sports programs. Great stuff. We ordered the wings and truffle fries. They were both awesome. I had the Backyard Cheddar Burger. It was loaded and definitely one of the better burgers I have had. Besides this, their beer menu is extensive and very good. I ordered the Whistler seasonal grapefruit and it was excellent.
This is also a good place to take kids, as I saw a lot of families when I was there. Excellent all round.

Came here yesterday for a quick dinner with some relatives after getting off a ferry, I can honestly say it was probably the best tasting meal I’ve had all year, had the Kung Pao noodle bowl and it was excellent.
Sister got the pesto shrimp flatbread which was also extremely tasty. Even grandad got simple chicken tenders and they were even a cut above normal pub food.
To make this experience even better, we had 3.50 house lager on happy hour special all day on Monday.
The service was very good, very on point.
Perfect live entertainment that was smooth singer/​songwriter blues with a beautiful voice.
And the place is setup great and looks awesome.
I came here because I was just hungry and in the area (I’m from Cloverdale) but I will 100% always be back and probably even make the trip just to have it again.
Great place!

This spot is great for a casual get together with a group of friends. It is cozy, has that comfortable pub atmosphere, and a delicious menu that doesn’t kill your wallet. The servers are very friendly and professional. Never did I not see a smile on any of their faces!
I ordered the forest mushroom flatbread and it was very tasty. They did not skimp out on the mushrooms and really piled on the arugula. The truffle taste was there, as indicated on the menu, and extra seasoning, cheese, and chili flakes came along with the dish.
Some feedback I would give Village Taphouse: 1) Have the servers to engage in conversations with customers instead of having only to check in on how the meal is tasting, or if they need a beverage refill. With the casual and social atmosphere and vibe of the place, it would only make sense for servers to take a little more time to get to know their customers. 2) Washroom checks need to be conducted more often. The paper towel dispenser was out when I needed to dry my hands and scraps of toilet paper was on the floor of one of the stalls. Other than that, my experience here was A-​Ok.

I love this place! I’ve been going here at least once a week for the past couple of years. The food, service and drinks here are always amazing. All the staff are always welcoming and friendly. The waitresses aren’t snobby and stuck up unlike some places.
Best things on the menu: Tuna Poke, Huevos Rancheros for brunch, Beef Dip, and Taco Salad. For drinks: Fat Tug IPA, Red Wine Sangria and the Strongerbow.

Good place for a beer with friends and their food is pretty decent! The yam fries are BOMB!

We stopped here for lunch. Had a great time. All the employees were very helpful. Tried a little bit of everything and some beer! Both were very good.

I really like the Taphouse, never had a bad experience there. The food is always excellent, I’m a huge fan of their salads and mac & cheese. They have lots of good beers on tap and even more in bottle form. The atmosphere is good, there’s a quieter area which is better for kids and then a 19+ only section with pool tables for adults.

Been going to the taphouse with friends ever since we all turned 19. Really love the ambience, live music nights (Go Adam Woodall!), and the boardgames! Though I do miss Cards Against Humanity. Drink specials are always a steal, especially on Monday’s all-​day happy hour. The place get’s super busy on game nights which can either be fun, or really loud and annoying!
Sometimes the waitresses are a bit prudish, especially when you’re just there for drinks and aren’t expecting big tips, but not always. The food is good, averagely priced and nothing special, but I’ll always grab the salmon burger and some calamari when I’m there.

I legitimately love this spot. Super cozy, Canuck loving, feels-​like-​home kinda pub.
I don’t know what they do to their chicken fingers, but so ridiculously good. And their truffle fries… so freaking good. Great beer specials, great service, great price point.
Yeah, I’m a fan.

Beyond impressed with service from staff and management, great food, the soh effing good martini is fantastic and on a Thursday night they have an amazing local musician Adam woodall who is so talented and brings a great vibe to this hidden gem

Came Monday night so called beer and burger night and to enjoy the hockey game refused because I don’t drink asked if orange juice or soft drink with burger even though less costly I was refused I guess you have to be a drinker of alcohol to get special. SHAWN LEE informed under no circumstance he could alleviate. He approached me after not to sympathy but insult me by calling me a antagonist for what questioning if could accommodate a non drinker of alcohol.

Not a huge selection of food but an ok place to grab a quick bite and a drink. The location being the West Van village makes it convenient with plenty of parking and great shops nearby to hang out.

We often end up here after hiking on the North Shore. It is «A-​ok» as Unilocal puts it.
It has better than average pub food but it is still pub food and the menu is small. Tasty burgers and my friend said the gluten free pizza was great, plus plenty of beers on tap.
The last time we went, despite it being filled mostly with families,. it was cranking loud inside with crap music and football games on the TVs. My suggestion would be to sit outside (they have heatlamps),. its a great area with a little view of the mountains, quiet, and despite being on the edge f a parking lot there isn’t much traffic so it is actually one of the nicer patios around. It looks cozy inside,. nice décor,. but if you can’t hear I’ll limit my visits to the sasons I can sit outside,. or go elsewhere.

Went with a girlfriend of mine and her husband and were seated comfortably in a nice corner table. First we couldn’t decide which white wine to choose, told the waitress we like it on the sweeter side, she gave us a couple of free samplers to try… great way to try out the wine before we bought. The food was great! The calamari was very good, not only calamari but it had jalapeño, red peppers in a light crispy batter. Loved the steak and frites with a side of arugula in a light vinaigrette. Did I mention the frites (fries) were flavoured with truffle oil and Parmesan?! Wow… definitely will come here again!

Be careful if you go in with a group. They’ll charge you a mandatory 18% gratuity. Which I don’t mind, but I hate it when the waitress conveniently fails to mention it. I’m sure it’s written on the menu in tiny font, but still a reminder would be nice.
That aside it’s a nice pub. The selection of beers is pretty good, but the food is pretty standard for a pub (the nachos are better at Jack Lonsdales).
The waitresses are typical for the North Shore, no real personality, no friendly banter. But they are reasonably quick.
The ambience of this place is quite nice, it’s impressive when you first walk in.
