Rogers’ Chocolates Whistler Store

The dark (54%) chocolate bar and the maple popcorn I tasted were pretty yummy, though the chocolate didn’t wow. I came in with my sister, who was shopping for gifts for a long list of friends, and one of the staff members pretty much ran us off with her rudeness. She started off friendly, but when my sister had some pretty normal questions (what’s your favorite flavor, which are dark/​milk chocolate) the woman began giving terse answers then, just ignored us. Also, she tried to deny us a second sample — not each but total — there were two of us; we split the first sample of chocolate, then her coworker offered us maple popcorn, of which we took ONE, while the rude woman loudly snapped that we’d already had a sample. Seriously, 2 people are only allowed one sample total?! My sister got the bare minimum and we went elsewhere to find other gifts.

The chocolate here has a very rich history in Canada… You can ask any of the workers inside to tell you about it. But you are really here to eat and buy chocolate.
There is a huge assortment of chocolates from the original plain chocolates to ice wine chocolates and a 58% cocoa chocolate shot! This chocolate shot is pure delicious if you ever need a fix for your craving!

Stopped in here twice during out visit to Whistler. First time picked up a bag of different kinds of chocolate truffles.
The second time was to pick up a box of assorted dark chocolates as a gift for the staff of the Firerock Lounge — the bar in the Westin Hotel where we were staying.

Like the reviews before mine, I’ll compliment the service and cleanliness of the store, but as far as pricing and product…‘meh’.
I’d like to think that Roger’s is equivelent to the stateside See’s chain, just not obnoxiously stark-​white and seizure inducing black. Instead, Roger’s seems much more inviting, quaint, and modeled after a country store. Seemed quite clean, and open (no clutter for clutter sake).
My group happened to visit this location in the off-​season, and it was relatively quiet inside. The single staff member was friendly, chatty, and offered us a taste of rich, dark hot chocolate. Very tasty… a ‘must’ experience.
Selection was not as unique as I expected or hoped it to be, although the various ‘liquer’ filled truffles such as Mai Tai, Pina Colada, Mojito (and a few others) caught my attention. Otherwise, pretty much your standard gourmet chocolate offerings. And while I understand this is Canada, the prices seem a bit higher than I expected for a ‘good’ chocolate, but not a ‘great– I have to have it’ chocolate.
It’s nice to pick out your own pieces and assemble your own chocolate collection, and there are plenty of size and ‘artsy’ tins to select from. A nice alternative gift compared to the hundreds of ‘Canada’ T-​shirts in every other store.
That being said, I would recommend the rich, deep, dark Hot Chocolate on a blustery day.

Prices reflect Whistler and artisan chocolate shops – so watch out, these candies aren’t cheap! Staff was very happy and helpful, offering us a sample of the mai tai truffle.
The quality seemed to be on par with other chocolate shops, but the flavors seemed less inventive. The only really intriguing ones were part of a truffle set inspired by some fruity drinks (like mai tai).

Mother-​in-​law loves chocolates, has bought from Rogers in Victoria, BC, so I went to pick up a small box to take back for her.
Service was outstanding. I can’t stress this enough because the 3 star review was for the product, not the store or service. Last night they were mildly busy, nothing the lone counter person couldn’t handle. She was very friendly, chatty, knew the products, knew how to recommend the products, and knew how to broaden the conversation beyond just chocolates: everyone was smiling.
The store is cozy, clean, well stocked, and otherwise inviting.
The chocolates — very average, like any mass produced chocolates you would see at other chocolate chain stores. Certainly better than some you could buy in a grocery store or drug store, but if you’ve ever bought from an artisan chocolatier or (say) visited Belgium, you know the difference.
