Husband and I loved this little seafood restaurant in Cerro Alegre. The dishes were tasty and creatively prepared. We liked the chef’s sophisticated cooking style, which was subtle enough to bring out the flavors of the seafood without overpowering it. The scallop dish was the only one I was not so fond of because the scallops seemed tough and overcooked. We heard the chef explain to other diners that he likes to cook scallops until they are a bit«crunchy» so maybe scallop preparation style is a matter of taste. Favorite dishes were the fried smelt and the strawberry pie. The menu and portions were small enough that you could try everything and not be stuffed. We liked the fact that the entire wine list was compatible with the entire menu. We had sparkling wine and an old Chilean red wine called Aupa, both very nice. Service was attentive. This restaurant was notable in terms of cleanliness. For once, we did not have to contend with sticky surfaces, and the bathroom was spotless. If you like seafood and you find yourself in Valparaíso, we highly recommend Ápice.

Wonderful little french restaurant with very limited menu. When we were there they had one seating per night and a choice of one of 2 starters, entrees and dessert. We split dishes without planning but had the same dessert. Everything was fantastic. The chef uses local fresh food so the menu changes. They specialize in pairing wines so do hesitate to ask for a recommendation. I drink primarily red wines so I ask for assistance with a white and was pleasantly surprised. You will need reservations. We were fortunate because the staff had not been able to confirm one reservation so it became our table.
