I visited Bar25 with fellow Unilocalers on a UnilocalSocial event. It was a very nice evening indeed, but I’m not sure Bar25 is my kind of joint. Therefore, my review might be colored by my mixed feelings about the place. First of all, my drink was great. I had an almost healthy tasting sake and gin based drink called Geisha Garden, with a nice hint of ginger and green tea. Delicious and made with the outmost care by the very professional bartender. And we got to try some 23 year old rum, which was yummy, but for serious contenders. The prices were quite steep, but then the drinks are very varied and interesting, as well as being made with dedication. Oh, and there’s one called«Business Thyme» with a great reference to Flight of the Concords. I almost gave five starts just because of this. I was surprised at how lively Bar25 was for such an early time in the evening(we were there before 7), so I’m guessing it has really hit the spot when it comes to those who find themselves a bit thirsty for a drink after work and who are eager to start the weekend in style. For the place is very stylish indeed. For me, it’s a bit too much. There are shiny things, wooden things, bricks, leather, brass, retro lamps and sci-fi like bath rooms, all going on at once. As a whole, it didn’t quite work for me, but the bar area itself was kinda cool. With the very indecisive music(a mix of a lot of different styles and vibes), my overall impression of the place was a bit schizophrenic. The clientele was a mix between really young and more mature, making me in my mid-twenties feel a bit out of place. It didn’t matter too much, though, since I was surrounded by lovely Unilocal-people.

From the masterminds behind Copenhagen staple bar7, this is its«little sister», but she isn’t small and cute — rather, she’s just as grown-up, elegant, and posh as her older sibling. The location is absolutely prime, right in the center of the city on Nikolaj Plads, just a 5min walk from Kongens Nytorv. The interior is upscale and decadent, with leather sofas and armchairs, a bunch of crystal mirrors on the back wall, and a couple of silver and copper bull heads on another. As I’m writing, I cannot remember what the music was like, which I’m taking to mean that it was fitting very well and not so loud as to hinder a conversation. The staff was very friendly, happy to provide more info on the drinks, and give a recommendation. Like at bar7, you order at the bar and pay immediately — I think it would fit the atmosphere better to be served at the table and pay in the end, but I understand that’s hard to do when it’s crowded and people come and go all the time. I don’t know if they keep credit card tabs open, I wasn’t asked if I wanted to, and didn’t ask for it either. Now, the most important part — the drinks! I started out with a glass of champagne. When it was served, I was told it was from an open bottle so if it was too flat, I should just let them know and they’d of course open a new one. Good service — although the bubbles were just fine! Their cocktail menu is comprehensive and has some classics from bar7, like the«Blueberry Bitch», some general cocktail classics, like a Pisco Sour, and their own, decadent and tasty creations. My absolute favorite was the Tour de Fizz, a concoction of vodka, passion fruit and vanilla, with a thick egg white foam — not a drink, but pretty much a dessert(it even comes with a spoon!). Yum! The descriptions of the drinks are mouth-watering and fun — example: «Girl, tonight is the night we make love. How do I know? Because it’s Wednesday, and Wednesday is the night we make love!» :) Prices for the cocktails range from DKK85 – 120, which is completely in line with the general price level for cocktails in Copenhagen, and you get a good bang for your buck here. I’ll be back soon!

I was here along with other Unilocalers for«after-work» drinks event on Friday night. The thing about this place is that you better come early if you can. There were hardly any people when we were there — despite it being Friday evening. There are cozy lounge chair(similar to Library Bar!) giving that gentlemen’s smoking room feeling(only like any other bar in Copenhagen, you’re not allowed to smoke inside). The drink menu are varied and the price is quite average for expensive Copenhagen, at least no surprise for me there. Bartender is quite friendly and he knows how to make his drink. My Geisha Garden and The Internationals were quite wonderful, although a fellow Unilocaler pointed out that the 23-year old Zacapa rum in the whisky drink was too subtle to taste. It’s a completely nice and relaxing place for your after-work drink. We could see people coming straight from work, in suits or business dresses or just informal clothing having their obligatory five o’clock drink. However, come night and I feel like I don’t belong anymore. Sure, most of the early clienteles have gone to get some dinner, now the place has dimmed lights and somehow turned into a club. We saw some girls dressing up like contestants of Paradise Hotel or something — totally not my style, so I hurried up and left the premises. If you’re like me, best to get your drink before 8pm, before the place turned into a party scene!
