After visiting several tourist attractions, my stomach growled. I chanced upon the café and decided to give it a try. I was welcomed warmly. As I do not understand Danish, I asked the kind of food the café serves. The café assistant was patient and I got myself an egg sandwich. I got to choose the type of bread I want — the white or dark colored bread(I do not know the difference), and I got the white one. I was given a police car toy, which was used to identify the customer. So creative! It is a very small café and I got myself a counter seat facing the road. The café is nicely decorated and I felt warmth sitting in the café waiting for my food. My sandwich didn’t take long to come. The bread was so hard! I was given knife and fork but they were useless on the bread. The egg was nicely made though. Overall it wasn’t that bad!

Wonderful spot for breakfast, with great juices. Blueberry pancakes and juice were fabulous.

The staff is very accommodating and friendly. I made a few requests and they happily made the adjustment to my order. One thing I noticed about many places in CPH is that you have actually to go few steps down from the street level. Very interesting concept to have in a city surrounded by water. I suppose they probably don’t have to worry about the extreme weather like some other parts of the world.(e.g., heavy rain storm, flood) Anyway, when I walked in, there was only a couple sitting down. Once I started eating, this place quickly filled up. If you feel like you want to linger around, I will avoid the breakfast time. It’s not that I felt rushed, but as a common courtesy, you don’t want to be occupying the seat when you are done with your food/drink when others are looking for a place to sit down: the place isn’t that big. My food: scrambled eggs, side salad, 2 small pieces of bread and a cup of fruits was ok. I kept hearing a blender in a background, so people must come here for their juice and smoothies. I’d rate 3 for food, but because of the service and the staff, I’m giving 4.

Superfriendly staff. I stopped by before they were officially open. Not a problem though. They fixed a cappuccino to go and off I went to explore. Lively atmosphere. I returned an hour later and the café was almost packed. Lots of conversation. Great music. Awesome cappuccino. Delicious cheesecake.

Copenhagen 10 Nov 2015 Breakfast at Next Door Café Worth visiting Steak knife couldn’t cut the bread properly. Tearing it with teeth is best. It’s not tough. It has salt on it and a little inside too. Very very nice bread. Good breakfast. Good hot double shot latte.

What’s not to love about this place? Good grub and drinks, reasonable prices, down to earth setting and genuine service. Next Door Café really simplifies the café experience in the best way possible with a no-fuss approach while maintaining a very comforting atmosphere that makes anyone feel at home. I’m a huge fan of their fresh juices and their daily variety of baked goods are not to be missed. A definite café«must» while in Copenhagen.

Great little café with good food, coffee and juices. Particularly good as it gets into winter, this little place has great music and a cute cosy charm. Reasonably priced(40dkk for a juice, 20−35DKK for a coffee). Owner/staff are incredibly friendly and make great menu suggestions. Could see myself as a regular here!

Great ambience, got the classic juice. Not normally a fan of ginger, but the ginger gave it a nice kick. The vibe and music was fun and eclectic. Will come back to eat next time.

So glad we decided to check this place out. It’s amazing, the owner is super cool and the coffee and food is really good. I tried a breakfast sandwich(egg, bacon and cheese) on a fresh out-of-the-oven«bolle»(the noun), it was incredible. The lattes are right up there with the best I’ve had anywhere.

A great breakfast spot! The staff are super friendly, the food is good and they make coffee QUICK. Like, before your card has finished authorizing quick. And they have no time for decaf, which means I basically love them all forever.

Went here twice. It was excellent both times. Pancakes of the day the first time were banana blueberry. I was in pancake heaven. Next time they were ‘just’ blueberry pancakes. I was not angry. Their ‘Lidt af hvert’ breakfast gives you what you want really. Pancakes. Eggs. Bacon. However, and it’s not a negative however, their breakfast sandwich was bar none best breakfast choice in Copenhagen. Top it off with the chai latte to rule them all, a cool grungy punkish interior and some ultra friendly people working behind the bar, and you’ve got yourself what we in the business call a winner. I went here twice with Kai, and now that she is, sadly, back home, I might just have to go by myself. Yes. It’s THAT good.

This review is an illustration of how a café, which potentially could earn five stars in my book, reduces it self to a meager three. Scene one: Outside the café. Your trusted reviewer is looking at the menu. A nice man enters from the café entrance door and asks if there is anything he can help with. Reviewer. «Do you have WiFi?» Next Door Guy: «Yes, ma’am!» Reviewer: «Is there room?» Next Door Guy: «For you? Of course!» Next Door Guy: You had me there! Now I really didn’t have a choice but to show my support for your facility in order to reward your outstanding courtesy. Scene two: Enter the café. Reviewer finds a seat by the window, places her order and is, much to her amusement, presented with a toy cow instead of the usual table number. Muses a bit over the fact that the guy at the till would refer to the order as «the cow in the window». This could easily be the straw that broke the fifth star in. But we’re not just there yet. Noooot yet. Reviewer entertains herself with day-old newspapers and the order arrives shortly hereafter. The prices are not unfair, the food is not inspiring but okay. The Americano is not really outstanding to say the least. The café remains at four stars. But then, everything goes haywire. Till Guy decides it is time to show off the woofer in the café speakers. Being a former audio technician, Reviewer knows that gangsta rap is well suited for this purpose. However, sitting beneath the speaker, and being in no mood for gangsta rap, Reviewer pulls herself together and does what she normally refrains from, because it is always awkward: Rises from her seat and kindly asks Till Guy to turn it down a bit. Which Till Guy does. Until the next song is on. Then the volume is cranked back up. As if Reviewer wouldn’t notice! This is both rude and insensitive. The situation is further escalated when Till Guys friends pop in to say hello: «HIMAN! YOYOWHAZZUP!» etc. Till Guy and Waiter is so exited about their friends popping in to say hello, they forget how to café, and begin removing Reviewers plate and utensils while she’s still eating. All the while gangsta rap is pounding from the speakers, Reviewer has attached her noisecancelling JayBird earplugs hoping they will take a hint. This doesn’t happen. Next Door, step up your game. Rudeness and insensitivity is not outweighed by cutesy farm animals and flattery. Follow through on your gig and try a little customer care, okay? Okay!

A bit disappointed having breakfast here as some of the reviews on Unilocal were so glowing. The food was good — not amazingly great. I had a pancakes. I also usually drink decaf coffee but they don’t have any, didn’t even really have decaf tea. Atmosphere is a fun, eclectic mix, and neighborhood dozy. Service a bit slow on a Sunday morning, not sure if it is better on other days.

Summary: One of the most delightful coffee shops I’ve seen. Extremely charming with delicious item to enjoy. Atmosphere: It reminds me of a the LES of NYC. This place has a definitely perspective. Go and check it out. The feel is just cool. The Beverage: Whether for coffee or interesting juice, both will be thoughtfully freshly created. You can’t go wrong. The Desserts: There is really quite a selection of baked goods and cookies to chose from. If you’re tired walking through downtown, this is a great spot to just chill out and enjoy a little local feel, check some email and relax.

A cozy and relaxed basement café perfect for a coffee or for breakfast. We had«pancakes of the day» and it was very tasty, a great vegetarian option to eggs and bacon. The staff was very friendly and willing to chat, always a plus!

We fell in love with this place the minute we walked in. There were so many little interesting trinkets to look at and their people actually don’t mind you poking around. Everyone was so accommodating and nice. I haven’t had coffee yet nobody caused me any headache and that really is saying a lot. This was also probably the first time I’ve ever had fluffy pancakes in Europe(ok maybe I’m exagerrating but really, i can’t seem to find those easily). Their chai latte was so i-will-get-out-of-bed-for-you-good.

There are so many cozy cafes in the city, but seriously, I think this is my new favorite. From the outside, it looks so hyggelig with people all talking and smiling. Going inside, the first sign I see is ”Be Nice or Leave.” I love that! The staff is super friendly, and I already feel like a regular in this cozy place. I highly recommend this place for a taste of Copenhagen. And they made me an awesome Chai Latte :)

I love this place. My friends love this place. Every time we have visitors, we take them here. Excellent pancakes, lovely salads, delicious cookies and cake, amazing-ness everywhere you turn. The eclectic interior offer much to look at and talk about; leave your own legacy behind in one of the tables(you’ll see what I mean). This place is definitely a must.

Isn’t it life-affirming when you go somewhere and it’s like they’ve got your own ipod on shuffle? Yeah, that totally happened to me at Next Door Café, but it’s not the only thing that endeared this casual coffee/diner to me. We rolled up(literally, on our bikes) about 9.30 on a Sunday. The owner and staff were chatting, eating and laughing out front, but didn’t hesitate to get to work when we strolled through the door. The menu on the wall was in Danish, but we were welcomed with a «Let me know if you need any interpretations.» Very nice and didn’t make me feel like such an outsider having to ask. You order at the counter, then find a seat while they make your drinks. This day, there was an order-taker/juice maker AND a barista, which helped things flow smoothly as the customers came in and in and in – many to get coffee to go and some small groups were eating in. It took a while for our food to be ready but they were friendly about it, apologised and gave updates. In the meantime, we watched the owner(the barista) be pretty much the nicest guy on the planet, chatting up regulars, welcoming newcomers and directing staff as needed. The food(scrambled eggs, banana pancakes and bacon) was good.(Cheers for having real maple syrup!) Spot on for the price and the overall experience was fantastic. A wonderful start to our day of bike riding and site-seeing. Oh, and if you were curious, that life-affirming playlist was: Lissie«Pursuit of Happiness» The Cure«Lovecats» Harry Belafonte«Day-O» ELO«Evil Woman»
