I’m not quite sure what to think of the annual Copenhagen Dining Week tradition, for which I visited this restaurant in 2015. The event is simple: 200DKK gets you a three-course meal and sparkling water at one of many restaurants in or around Copenhagen. We chose Nose2Tail Meat & Seafood. The best way to sum up this experience is that I went over to Kødbyens Deli and got myself a burger when we were done. That’s unfortunate. Now, I understand that I’m only paying 66.6DKK per meal, but it’s still implied that you get a regular, three-course meal, at least size-wise. But the food wasn’t very good either. A decent bisque starter, a tough piece of meat with potatoes and a miniscule triffle for desert. All in all just not an enjoyable experience, when you top the food with being seated in a cold backroom shoulder to shoulder with other patrons and what seemed like a confused group of waiters.

Third time wasn’t the charm for Nose2Tail. We were excited to try this one out since the other two places were so good, but maybe it’s just got a few kinks to work out. It wasn’t that good of an experience. We started with the classic Bubbles and Snacks: a lovely cava and fresh pork cracklings with bacon aioli. Always a winning combi. When we decided to order, the waiter couldn’t remember what was included in the seafood starter. That was Strike 1 for my boyfriend. He settled on the Jerusalem artichoke soup with a scallop. I ordered the seafood platter that included crab claw, lumpfish roe, scallops, lots fresh shrimp in the shell, clams, and bread and aioli. It was an awkward moment when I had to remind the waiter about the bread and aioli. Both starters cost 100kr, but I clearly got a better deal. His bowl of soup was more like a cup sized amount. The flavor was good, and there was a scallop, but it wasn’t worth 100kr. For our main course, Nikolaj ordered a 300 gram ribeye with potatoes and bearnaise. I ordered the seafood risotto. The waiter was confused about the way the steak was to be cooked. I still don’t understand what happened, but it turned out right anyways. The bearnaise was beautiful. Rich and flavorful with a nice acidic taste. The potatoes were small and crispy. Perfectly made. My risotto turned out to be average. The two scallops included were apprently what made it a seafood risotto. It didn’t taste seafood like, and there were no other prawns or such other than the two scallops. I think we’ll stick to the original Nose2Tail. It was just a disappointing evening on an otherwise important night for us. I spent the rest of the evening smelling like a seafood medley because the waiter spilled the juices from my starter onto my pants.
