Vegetarian? Really hungry? This is not the place for you. What you can eat is absolutely delicious, but it’s not much. The appetizers were either meat or had some sauce with fishy stuff in it that would make the dish incomplete if you got it without. The secondi meals were all veryyyy meaty. Both of the primi pastas were vegetarian and awesome. I got the homemade pasta with shaved truffles. Awesome. And totally really expensive. My date got the other primi, a stuffed pasta dish. When the waitress said«cottage cheese» and«cabbage,» my eyes glazed over and I stopped listening, but after trying it I was stoked. They are extremely heavy on the whole leaves of sage. I’m indifferent about that, but my date didn’t love it. Afterwards, we got the cheese plate and dessert. Both were amaaaazing. I’d come back next time just for those items and drinks. Also, speaking of drinks, we got beers here. It’s not on the drink menu but you can ask what they have. I got something wheaty floraly and I loved it.

Ok. So the food is good in Denmark, but you have to pay big style to eat well. If you come from SF, or before that Sydney, like I do, then you will be disappointed by a) the lack of variety and then b) the prices. But, Spiseri offers a serious remedy. For one, it’s unusual in it’s Scandi oriented take on Italian. The menu is limited, but what they offer is really well put together and all the dishes we shared were first class. I’m half Italian so I won’t say that this is amazing Italian food, but it is a good hybrid with some softer Nordic flavors. For Copenhagen standards, the value is excellent. The portions were filling and for the equivalent quality elsewhere around town you’d likely pay a lot more. They do a few things very well — the service is excellent, the way they structure the menu is cute(a sort of package deal by course #‘s) and the ambiance is fantastic. It’s not formal, just very clean and simple, but in a very nice and romantic way. If I lived in Copenhagen I think this would be one of my «go to» restaurants.

Absolutely, positively the best meal during our week in Copenhagen. Everything was savory and delicious — reservations recommended as they get packed and it looks like mostly local repeat crowd. Food was imaginative and plentiful. Don’t miss it. Go early and stroll through the beautiful Assistens Cemetery and see Hans Christian Andersen’s gravesite.

Mmm mmm! They have a menu that changes all the time so I am not sure what you might get but it’s seasonal and local stuff. Tiny little spot that gets crowded but I am not sure if they do reservations. I ate late so it didn’t matter, but it was one of the best meals I had in Copenhagen in the week I was there. Charming service too — well recommended!

Simpel, basic, and good Italian food made from scratch. Four young Danish women have started this wonderful little restaurant. You can choose between two anti pasti, two primi, two mains, and a desert or cheese. Voted best inexpensive restaurant in Copenhagen for two years in a row. They have a small selection of wines. Water is free. Normally you are charged for water in Copenhagen. It is just tap water, but tap water is safe to drink in Denmark. You can ask for water con gas, and then they just use their SodaStream machine. It is important to reserve a table in advance.

Scandinavian influenced Italian food? Sounds odd, but trust me, it works wonderfully. Spiseri has a constantly changing menu which means if you do choose to return, you will be able to try something new every time. And if you get the chance, I’m sure you will have no regrets about coming back, because this is truly a special restaurant. The night I ate here, I enjoyed a fantastic multi-course meal with appetizers, salads, a main course, and of course a dessert and some wine. Appetizers that night consisted of a delicious sausage with a nice bitter greens salad, which I was told was made from a vegetable related to dandelions. After that came a soft yet still light gnocchi with what I believe was rabbit. The gnocchi was a bit soft for my taste, but still flavourful. The main course was a fork tender braised pork cheeks with vegetables. Braised basically all day, it was for me the highlight of the meal. Finally for dessert, poached plums with what seemed like a raspberry sauce and a vanilla cream and a bit of crumble. Sweet, tart, and with a variety of textures to keep things interesting, it had all the makings of a great dessert for me. A great way to end a delicious and filling meal. Like I said, while the menu may be different the night you visit, if it is anything in terms of the quality the night I came, be prepared for a superb culinary experience. Finding Spiseri can be a bit difficult. Located in Nørrebro, the easiest way coming from downtown Copenhagen I’ve figured is to catch the 5A bus towards Husum Torv and get off at the Elmegade station. Then, cross Nørrebrogade and continue walking down the street until you hit Griffenfeldsgade on your left(about two blocks or so). Spiseri is on a corner just a few blocks down the street from there. Inside, you’ll find a warm and hygge environment with food served on mismatched china while you sit in mismatched chairs and other quaint touches all over– all things found either from flea markets or through donations from the restaurant owners’ families and friends. This all lends to the very comfy and relaxed atmosphere of the place and also a bit of playfulness. In addition, you will find the owners, four ladies still in university, running the business from the kitchen to the wait staff. Everyone was super friendly and helpful, and one knew they loved what they did — a rarity nowadays. Finally for value, Spiseri is actually on the cheaper side for a sit down restaurant in Copenhagen, and especially for the quality of the food you get. Appetizers ran around 60DKK while main courses around 120DKK. They have a decent wine selection as well. Spiseri is one of those special restaurants which makes you want to come back for more not just for the food, but for the whole experience. If you have the chance, whether you live in Denmark or are just visiting, try and score a table for one night. Keep in mind they are open Wed-Sat only and seats go fast, so reservations are highly recommended; you won’t regret it.

Fantastic place! Without any doubt the best italian i have had in Copenhagen. Its not your usual pizza/pasta place, but its focused around the 4 meals that are in an italian meal. Its very small and cozy, and with wobbley chairs. The owners — 4 girls — are serving you and making the food, and its SO tasteful, and SO cheap. Winelist isnt to shabby either. But most important: They make you feel like home, and the food is just… simple and great and home made. Over all, I cant recommend it enough if you want a laid back and cheap evening, with some great food. Tables are a bit hard to come by, so order a few days in advance, or come late(around 9 – 10 ish).
