For a place in Copenhagen selling Mexican food, I was pretty pleased with my meal! Don’t expect to get the same thing you’d get in Mexico. You’re not in Mexico and you’re paying like 70DKK for a meal that’s huge. Stop overthinking it and just enjoy it for what it is — a decent attempt at a cuisine that’s under-represented through most of Europe. Taco Shop needs to work on their salsa, and to make their tortilla chips stay crispy. But that’s okay, my chimichanga was huge and I couldn’t finish it! They were also very happy to accommodate my no beans request. Go with an open mind and an empty belly. You’ll leave full and still have some cash in your wallet, too.

Not sure what people are expecting from here. Do I walk into an Indian in London and expect the same food as you get in India? No — the restaurant sells food which the locals want to eat. Californians need to leave their expectations at passport control. This is hands down, the cheapest meal you’ll eat in Copenhagen. The food isn’t bad either. The rest of it was fairly simple — it’s a walk up counter with some benches around the sides with stools. This is not fancy dining to any extent. The staff are friendly and have a pretty good grasp of English. The drinks selection is good for American sodas — found to our surprise the voltage Mountain Dew here. Portion sizes were also excellent — I got my burrito loaded and couldn’t finish it. We even considered coming back here a second time because it was such good value.

This place is solid three stars, actually 3.5. Most of the satisfaction comes from the portion size to price ratio(because the food it self, while decent, isn’t exactly amazing). For less than 70kr, the smothered burrito gets you a generously sized beans+meat filled burrito, a pile of tortilla chips, and an equally large pile of fresh tomatos and lettuce topped with jalapeño and olives. And then everything drowned in cheese. The downside is that the cheese topping solidifies very quickly, the salsa is unimpressive, and the tortilla chips are not quite crispy. Still, if you’re craving something easy, greasy, and filling(and somewhat tex-mex), this place is alright. Side note: They make their burritos without rice(only beans and meat). I guess I personally like mission burritos better(with the rice and extra stuff), even though it makes it way harder to eat.

Good if you feel like some greasy, dirty, heavy wannabe Mexican. Not the best food or quality. Fx the salsa was not Mexican at all. More like tomato sauce… I got a super burrito and it was just a tortilla filled with weird meat. I’ve been to Mexico and California and got the real deal, and taco shop 2 is not it.

It’s not authentic but it’s as pretty much as close as you can get in Denmark, so we order from here(carry out /for pick-up) quite often. I need my semi-Mexican fix at least once a month, it’s more of a comfort thing… We normally go for the tacos, the side of chips are decent enough. We used to get the nachos, but the accompanying salsa is really sub par and the guac is not much better, so we have given up on those.

I remember the excitement we felt the first time we discovered Taco shop in Frederiksberg, while living miserably on a tiny 6th floor apartment with no elevator on a forgotten small road, coming from bay area, finding Taco shop was the small hope and light we felt in Denmark. Although, the chimichanga was made with ground beef instead of shredded beef and not everything matched to the quality of Californian Mexican food, we became good customers. Then, after moving out of Frederiksberg(thanks God for that) the closest branch of Taco shop we could reach was on Osterbrogade. It was pretty much the same as in Frederiksberg, that was 4 years ago. Gradually the size of chicken chimichanga shrank in time. Last night, it was smaller than my palm(and I have pretty small hands). I feel deceived. And that’s why this review is coming. Please Taco Shop go back to old sizes where we all felt like living in US again. I have to switch to super chicken taco because it is still a decent size. And why not use some shredded beef in the menu?
