Service is not very good but food is not bad. Nobody explained that I should order from the counter. So I went upstairs and wait and wait and wait.

Pretty decent Italian food. The porchetta is tender and juicy; seasoned perfectly. Comes with a side of heirloom tomatoes and another side of your choice. The fried risotto balls with tomatoes and mozzarella are delicious! Place your order downstairs and the second floor is the dining area.

Nice location and great casual ambience. Had the porchetta with a side of rosemary fries. The fries were nice and crisp; However, the porchetta was a bit dry and the rind was soft and rubbery.

When we walked in, there wasn’t really anyone to greet us so we just went straight upstairs. It was pretty crowded so it was lucky that I made a reservation. Strangely, they wrote my request of «English menu if possible» right on our reservation sign but gave us both Danish menus. Oh well. Then our server informed us that we would have to order downstairs at the counter. Okay. I went down and placed our order. I was surprised when I was given a tray and then our drinks. I’m a little clumsy sometimes so I was really not okay with being made to take it upstairs myself. Luckily I managed to maneuver between ill-placed tables and make it back without spilling anything, but not without working up a nervous sweat. Thankfully a server brought us the food, and very quickly! But perhaps too quickly. The portobellos were cold and under-seasoned and the linguine in the bolognese had a strange texture. Not quite al dente, more like stale from being left out and reheated? The porchetta was good, as well as the rosemary fries. The price was reasonable and the view would have been nice if we had been sitting over Torvehallerne and not Frederiksborggade, but I won’t be coming back here again. It felt too much like a takeaway place from ordering(and paying) down in the bar first and getting a plastic cup with my soda. For that price, I’d rather go somewhere else; maybe an actual takeaway place with better food.

Love this place. VERY casual in that Italian farmers market way. Service is very limited, but friendly. Focus is clearly on good, well-prepared food and this is where they succeed — beautiful food and great flavours. Yum!

Location, food, service, ambiance, price, everything was great for lunch under the sun on the terrasse directly in the market . We ate 2 salate(calabrese og proscuitto) With glasses of prosseco! I recommand this place, it is very reknowed for their chicken, panini and unique fries.

We ate here twice during a 5 day stay in Copenhagen because of the good value, excellent food, and cool ambience. This Italian-ish place is located in a large, relatively new food market in Copenhagen. There were lots of great stalls to check out, try samples and buy treats, in addition to some restaurants. This place is order and pay first, then seat yourself. While ordering you could easily see most of what was to offer on the menu, including a roasted chicken main, a porchetta, and a couple of pasta dishes. The sides including grilled corn and grilled tomatoes were even better then they looked! I had the pasta bolognese one night, which in most hands is a contender for most boring dish in the world(up there with cheese pizza) but I orders it after seeing it go out looking fresh and awesome. It was. Everything else we ate there(especially the tomatoes!) was fresh and on point. If you feel like it is hard to get value for your money in Copenhagen(cause it is) ten you will find this place refreshing. Also the rosemary fries were being ordered en masse– they looked good but we didn’t get to them.

Despite what the two stars review suggests, Un Mercato is actually OK — and on a sunny day it’s quite a bliss to sit outside and be gently baked by the sun while nibbling Italian — so some might argue that it deserved at least a 3 stars review. However, the place kind of over-promises and under-delivers, so for that i have to scale down a star(sorry!). This is how it went down: My friend and I arrived on a sunny Saturday to an absolutely packed ‘Torvehallerne’ to enjoy a nice lunch and a bit of autumn sun. At Torvehallerne, there are plenty of good lunch options, but we were keen on a spot outside so Un Mercato seemed like the go to place. I guess the menu is OK if you eat meat(without being a ‘meaty’ place), however, the only vegetarian option is the caprese salad so we had it easy picking what to eat. Our order came down to two caprese salads, two pellegrino and a portion of rosemary fries. The service was really confused and random, but hey — I can live with that as long as the food is good. Then the ‘salads’ arrived — I use the term ‘salad’ a bit broadly as these qualified more as sides than a main. Basically, it consisted of 3 different types of tomato in olive and balsamic dressing, a tad of mozzarella and a slice of roasted bread. Decent quality, but for 95DKK I was expecting a wince of excitement and a larger portion. The fries were really good, and if it weren’t for them — and the fact that we weren’t overly hungry — we needed to go ‘hobbit’ and order a second lunch as well. The problem with having a lunch spot in a crowded and popular place like Torvehallerne is that with so many good food options to pick from Un Mercato just falls short. Thanks for the visit, but I think this was my first and last visit.
