Service was okay but the paella was not very good at all. The lobster was dry and over cooked — inexcusable for 80 €. Very disappointing. The salad was good, but also expensive.

AMAZINGAMAZING paella. Actually, everything about this restaurant is amazing. It’s vicinity to the beach is close, the restaurant inside is beautiful, and also it’s been a Michelin restaurant for the past 5 years! I’ve been here twice– once when I visited the city during my study abroad time and with my group of friends during our first night in Barcelona. We ordered 3 pitchers of sangria at the table and you can definitely tell its homemade. For starters, my friend and I split the seafood croquette and it was perfectly fried and the inside wasn’t too seafood-y. Now what’s good about this restaurant is that they’ll make paella based on how many people want it. All 11 of us wanted the same seafood paella which made it very easy for the chef. Our paella had the right amount of seafood! And what’s really nice was that our waiter served us our paella so that everyone gets an even amount. After this meal, my friends were longing for their paella and I know I will definitely come back here when I return to Barcelona.

Just came back from michelin-foodtown San Sebastian, and purposely ate here at Can Majó again, as our last meal in Barcelona and in Spain. Exactly what we wanted! The quality of food at Can Majó rivals SS places. Ordered the shellfish paella with fideua with alioli again. So good! This time ordered the baby octopus and the homemade foie gras as appetizers — they were both incredible. Baby octopus drizzled with olive oil. The right amount of al dente and flavor. Homemade foie gras was probably the best foie gras I’ve had. This pâté/mousse version was light, creamy, no hint of veins or of fat separation. Service is excellent; atmosphere on Barceloneta beach on a sunny day is also excellent. If I lived here, I would probably come here every week!

I read reviews on both Unilocal and Tripadvisor about their paella. I got the Seafood paella Can Majó style and it was SUPERB! It came with a lot of bits of seafood in it as well as shrimp on the side. They can do orders for one person. It didn’t look like a lot but it was enough! I wish I ordered their sangria but it’s a pitcher(around 3 – 4 glasses) and I was by myself. I made a reservation through their website and it was easy! If you go during summer(may– August) or maybe anytime depending on the weather, ASKTOBESEATEDOUTSIDE. There is just something about eating paella out near the ocean. There’s multiple bus stops near the restaurant if you travel by public transportation.

We celebrated our anniversary with dinner here on the terrace seaside. It was a cool evening but heaters were available. The seafood was excellent as well as the service.

Looking for a good paella place, we chose it based on other Unilocal!reviews, and it did not disappoint! Although, we had to wait about an hour for a table(we did not have a reservation — make one if you can!), it was worth the wait! The outdoor seating is a beautiful setting and the staff was wonderful and helpful!

We went there on the hotel manager’s recommendation when we were looking for a good paella restaurant. Located in the fisherman’s neighborhood of La Baceloneta, the outdoor seating area gave us the beautiful view of the beach and the passer-bys. We started with the traditional tomato bread, olives, wine and a half dozen of the locally caught Galician oysters. We had paella Can Majo style and was not disappointed. The portions were plentiful and wish we had more room for other dishes. We did finish off with a nice crème brûlée and coffee. The staff were friendly and the service was excellent which seems to be an on going theme in Barcelona. We will definitely return to Can Majo on our next visit.

We were there in January and the food was freaking amazing! The fideau was fantastic the best we have had in the trip. I got the rice with lobster and was delicious. The dessert the 3 flans also delicious overall very very happy and we will go back

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because the food was excellent. Possibly the best paella I had in Barcelona and the seafood quality and freshness was too-notch. However, they added an additional 15 € charge to our bill for our two person birthday celebration and didn’t disclose it to us beforehand. The pastry they served us was awful. So we were a bit unhappy with that birthday/dessert experience. Other than that, I would definitely recommend it!

Go for the house paella. You won’t regret it. Mussels, clams, shrimp, crawfish and more… Oh my! Every time I think of Barcelona, I remember this meal. Every time I think of paella, I think of the paella I had at Can Majo.

Decent food, great service, amazing location. View of the sea pretty much worth the extra € 10 – 12 of things around the corner… Had the catalan fish casserole(more like grilled fish with a nice sauce on top) with complementary olives & pa amb tomàquet. I wouldn’t say the food blew my socks off and there were too many flies. but it was just what I was after I think. Wasn’t hassled at all by staff despite taking up 2 seats whilst alone and really rather taking my time. English menus if you’re into that sort of thing.

Had a very late lunch here yesterday — this was a meal of hits and misses. Good: 1. «Homemade duck foie» — pretty awesome paté, plated well. 2. Mixed shellfish and seafood platter — for € 39, pretty awesome. Half lobster, couple langoustines, stack of prawns and mussels and class 3. Razor clams Not as good: 1. Paella Can Majo style — this was a little bit of a disappointment. I was looking forward to a paella loaded with seafood and love and socarrat but didn’t get any of those things. I suspect it was better than a tourist trap in the middle of town but it was nowhere near as good as the paella I had at Petite Comité a few months ago 2. Cod with some sort of garlic and sauce — light on flavor, but the fish was cooked well. Service was a but snippy, but the waitress warmed up to us by the end. Also, make reservations for Sunday, otherwise they’ll quote you a 2 hour wait time. TL;DR I think there are a ton of dining options in this city to have something inconsistent, but the location and the décor is quite nice.

Very disappointed by this place. Heard the paella was good, but it was not — there was no crunch to the bottom rice(the socarrat). The rice tasted decent, but it just is not real paella. We also ordered some shrimp in oil to start as an appetizer, and it tasted like it was sitting in oil all day as opposed to just cooking in it briefly, so the shrimp came out soggy and mushy, it was kind of gross. I usually dont have this much of a negative reaction to restaurants, but this place is really only decent for the views /location.

Although Barcelona is not known for paella, we decided that since we were in Spain, it was a must to find a place for paella. Can Majó came up on my research pre-trip as a great place for seafood paella and fidua(noodle equivalent of paella). I was also attracted to the restaurant’s beach-side location at Barceloneta Beach. We ordered the 2 pans of paella and 1 pan of fidua: –Arròs negre(rice blackened with squid ink) –Arròs amb llamantol(rice with lobster) –Fideus amb marisc(thin pasta straws with seafood) The best of the three pans was the squid ink version where the rice is coated with black squid ink and you can find the tiniest specks of squid incorporated into the rice. I would come back to eat this savory squid rice with a bottle of wine and soak in the beach side ambiance. Although the flavor of the squid rice was excellent, I was upset that the rice did not have soccarat, the crispy slightly burnt rice found at the bottom of paella pans

Although Barcelona isn’t known for paella, every visitor to this coastal paradise wants to eat it at least once there, and in response, you will walk past hundreds of options throughout the city, in places not even remotely near the sea. Can Majo has a Michelin star, it is right on the beach, but not on the main drag Passeig de Joan Borbo, no matter since it has been around forever and is well known. Locals and tourists alike recommend it. Many places charge less than Can Majo, but you get what you pay for. In the cheaper scenario, this is mostly rice, heavily seasoned, with some mussels and shrimp and vegetable for color. Other places might make a respectable paella, but they can’t turn out the volume that Can Majo does, open on Sunday no less, walk ins accommodated with an hour wait.(In June, anyway.) We got the lobster paella, and you get the tail, two shrimp and a langoustine, plus the rice is al dente, packed with mussels, clams, shrimp and calamari. It costs a bit, but it’s entirely worth it. The rice has the soccarat, that nicely caramelized, crispy layer on the bottom that puts good paella over the top. If any dish illustrates cooking with love, it is this one. You can tell if the chef is having a bad day when you eat something that requires so much attention. A missed step is something missing if not a disaster. Can Majo does not disappoint.

3.5 Located along the beach rife with touristy restaurants, Can Majo seemed like a decent option for a late lunch/early dinner. The restaurant wasn’t quite yet open, but allowed us to sit inside and enjoy beer as they set up. The complimentary olives and bread with tomatoes(which was quite stale, but is the Spanish style) was a nice touch and the new husband enjoyed his Moritz. I loved the sangria! We opted to start with the seafood croquettes which were cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this item. And when in Spain, we had to order the paella. Barcelona isn’t known for the dish, but it wasn’t too bad here. The dish is cooked in the paella pan, but they will spoon it out and serve it for you on a platter, nicely arranged. I would have preferred a lot more seafood. Service was exceptional, some food items were really good, and interior was light and clean. The restaurant became quite full as we finished up our meal with both locals and tourists. Not a bad option if in the area, but certainly not a must.

even though paella isn’t native to barcelona, me and justin b. still wanted to try some good paella on our vacation and Can Majo did not let us down! it’s really easy to make a reservation on their website and they are open on sundays which was a huge plus for us too! we came in for lunch on a nice fall afternoon and being seated on the patio was perfect to people watch and enjoy the sunshine. you definitely come here for the seafood so if you aren’t a seafood person then this is not the right place for you haha. we started off with the small clams in a garlic sauce(15 Euro) and omg they were delicious! i could just eat that sauce all day long haha… and not to mention the clams were good too haha. then we went all out with the paella that came with lobster and shellfish. this was a splurge at almost 40 euro but split between the 2 of us this was plenty of food. the paella was so good! the rice is served a bit al dente but it was so flavorful and omg the seafood tasted so fresh. generous portions of lobster, mussels and shrimp too which matched the higher price point haha. service was pretty attentive throughout the meal and topping it off with sangria made this a really enjoyable lunch

This is the place you should go to reward yourself for trip in Barcelona. Great service, no. 1 important for me. My experience in dining in many restaurants inSpain and Portugal weren’t much good. Fallen into tourist trap with high price, average food and bad service. But Can Majo made my day. Very nice and friendly waiter. And their foods are great! Shellfish paella Can Majo style is awesome. Great presentation and tasty. Also tried the dish of the day, Grill medium squid is good. Price overall is worthy. The paella cost around $ 21 but it’s for one person portion. So if you go with a partner that the dish will be bigger and cost ~$ 42 which also not bad for it.
