If you’re in Barcelona, this place is not to miss. 5 restaurants and 3 bars under one roof! The décor is phenomenal, and it is always packed with people. I’ve been here twice, and have tried the seafood restaraunt and the Tapas restaraunt. No matter what you feel like eating, whether it’s from the land or sea or just small plates this building caters to all tastes. My favorite so far has been my first experience here, which was the tapas restaraunt for some snacking/​dinner before going out for drinks.

This review is for the Tapas section of the restaurant.
I want to talk about how much I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of this place. It’s like 4 – 5 different restaurants under one roof.
Unfortunately, we were too mad to even enjoy a meal and walked out after 30 minutes.
Hostess sat us down and told our waiter would be over. He went to the table next to us. We tried to get his attention, but he was joking around with the waitresses. Another couple enters about 15 mins after us about two tables down. I’m finally able to get the waiters attention and calls him over and he gives me the ‘one-​minute’ finger. He then proceeds to ignore us and take the order from the other couple.
I don’t usually pull out the race card, but when you’re the only two Asians in the restaurant, in a foreign country, and everyone around you is getting served except you, I like to say this waiter was either (1) racist or (2) couldn’t speak/​understand any English (but why would he work there if the place has an English menu and caters to tourists)
I would give this place a 0 if I can and a slap to the worker with the snotty attitude.

Great food. Terrible service. Waiters really don’t care and are not pleasant at all!
The sweets looked delicious but… didn’t even bother ordering because makes you not want to even finish your main dish, let alone eat desert. Do not recommend!

I think it’s a great concept, the first Italians has a lovely service but really bad selection of like 4 pastas from which 2 are cold. I went to La Taperia and it was TERRIBLE experience. Service is really bad. Food was ok, tho their bread was like 3 days old and at the end when I asked for the tomato bread they just toasted bread and put a whole tomato on the side and DIY. Sorry I don’t really want to try to squeeze my tomato on to the bread. I think the only restaurant worth going into is the fist restaurant at the end where I should have gone …

This place is a definitive must when in Barcelona! Opened Nov 2014, so quite new! Amazing and spectacular interior, I just say WOW!!!

If you are not what to have for dinner, this is the place to go. Located off the very trendy Passeig de Gracia. Its in a big hall, looks like a recycled train depot station. I ended up having the fresh seafood. The oysters and fish ceviche was excellent choice. Oysters was fresh, you can really taste the ocean. The fish ceviche was great. For main dish, I had the Grilled Octopus. It was flavorful, and very tender. Just melts in your mouth goodness. I also had a glass of White Wine and its was delicious, goes great with my meal. For dessert, I ordered the Chocolate Mouse. Its light and fluffy, it goes perfectly with my expresso.
Service was excellent, attentive staff. Price was also comparable.

Un lieu magique et incontournable à Barcelone: cet ancien garage réaménagé en une zone conviviale pleine de bar à tapas est une pure merveille ! Nous avons opté pour le premier comptoir central en entrant dans El Nacional, et nous nous sommes régalés tant avec les vins qu’avec les tapas, plateaux de charcuteries de très haute qualité ou de fromages ! Le tarif est identique à ce que l’on peut trouver dans une ville de province française mais bien inférieur à Paris !
Je vous le recommande vivement !

The tapas section (the restaurant has 4 areas) has an inscrutable system where waiters emerge occasionally from the kitchen with random tapas items and if you want it, you flag down the waiter. Tapas selection is weak and just OK in quality. If you don’t like seafood and your luck is poor you may go home hungry.
This review only applies to the tapas section. We did not try the others.

It was difficult choosing a place to go to as we were a bit overwhelmed at first but after finally making three rounds and deciding on a place we realized they are probably all delicious.
We got there around 11pm and unfortunately they weren’t serving anymore rice dishes so make sure you realize that you might not get paella if you get there late :(
I won’t go into detail on the food we ordered because I don’t honestly remember it but El Nacional has a really cool vibe especially for late night meal/​drinks either with you and the significant other or a bigger group. Caters to all tastes and interests. We almost missed out on it but decided to make a last minute trip our last night there and don’t regret it at all!

El Nacional is a cute space off the main streets of Passeig de Gràcia. It’s a renovated warehouse decorated in 1920 style, and houses several different restaurants. We went with the simple sandwich shop on the left hand of the entrance for cheese and Jamón platter, pastry with spicy Catalan sausage, desalted cod salad and chocolate crêpe! This is a must visit in Barcelona. The good restaurants can have long lines during peak hours.

Beautiful inside. Best place to go to the bathroom ! Go all the way to the back of the building to the right. multiple eating and drinking options.

What a surprise, really… I’m impressed. Completely hidden in the middle of Paseo de Gracia, El Nacional is a mix of options for all occasions. From cocktails, Brasseries, Tapas, Desserts, Mediterranean food, this place can really make your day. This is my first time and for sure I’ll be coming back from now on.

Ich bin zwiegespalten, was diesen Neuzugang am Paseo de Gracia angeht.
Zunächst einmal schlägt mein Fotografenherz höher, denn stylishe Fotomotive nehmen kein Ende. Hier haben sich extrem kreative und detailverliebte Köpfe nach Herzenslust austoben dürfen.
So wie im «Pueblo Espanol» unterschiedliche Architekturen aus ganz Spanien im Miniaturformat zusammengetragen wurden, so rühmt sich das El Nacional, Spaniens unterschiedlichen Küchen und Naturalienvorkommen eine Plattform zu bieten. Im Grunde genommen eine große Markthalle, nur statt der Stände einzelne Restaurants. Die Palette reicht von der Konditorei über das Fischrestaurant und den Grill bis zur Tapas– oder Weinbar. Je nach Motto wird die Einrichtung der einzelnen «Restaurantinseln» dominiert aus cool ausgeleuchteten Weinregalen, dekorativ in Szene gesetzten Zapfhähnen, verlockend auf Eis drapierten Meeresfrüchten oder oder oder.
Eine antike Fahrstuhlkabine stellt ebenso einen dekorativen Eyecatcher dar wie die üppige Palmenvegetation oder die strahlende «Showtreppe».
Alles sehr cool, alles sehr stylish, alles sehr unspanisch, aber definitiv etwas ganz Neues in der Gastroszene.
Zwei Seiten hat die Medaille: einerseits ist es praktisch, so ein vielfältiges Angebot so konzentriert vorzufinden. Auf der anderen Seite müssen die Gäste in ihrer Speisenwahl einstimmig sein: ich kann mir nicht vorstellen, dass man in der «Oyster Bar» Platz nehmen könnte und ein Teil der Gruppe ordert Steak. Käme aber auf einen Versuch an.
Die Preise sind angemessen und nicht überbordend, der Service ist ziemlich jung und trägt gut gelaunt die Poloshirts mit dem Logo des Hauses auf selbstredend Alabasterbodies.
Ein «must see» sind zwingend die Unisex-​Restrooms mit den rundum verspiegelten Kabinen. Mehr wird nicht verraten.
Das El Nacional versteckt sich übrigens ein wenig, denn lediglich der eine Einfahrt überspannende Schriftzug weist darauf hin, dass sich zwischen den beiden Hauswänden in der Tiefe der neue Hotspot verbirgt. Halt die Hausnummer 24 (ich dachte, es steht 20 dran) im Auge behalten :)
Nettes Souvenir: die Hauspostille mit allerlei Interessantem zum Lesen und Rumzeigen.

I had an awesome experience here! Everything is delicious and waiters keep walking by each table to yell out names of the food they are holding in their trays and made it a really fun experience. The razor clams were so good and I had to get two plates. Only downside is the bill added up quickly. It was a very expensive lunch but no regrets.

Fabrica de comida para turistas. Un sitio muy bonito, pero nada mas! Para hacer una foto y irse a comer a otro sitio, hay mucho mejor en la zona.
Fui 2 veces (una vez al restaurante de carne, la otra al de tapas), y las 2 veces la misma impresión: comida muy regular (carne fría, comida sin sabor, etc.) y servicio pésimo (con una mención particular para la chica que «gestiona» la lista de espera del bar de tapas (o que ni de esto no es capaz).

This is such a gem. As a first-​timer, it was a bit overwhelming… but once you figure it out, it’s amazing! I love that there are different distinct restaurants within the building. We chose the tapas one. I LOVE the concept! You pick our cold tapas — then you wait for the hot ones! Every few minutes a waiter will come out from the kitchen with a tray of a specific hot dish. They yell out which one it is — and if you want it — you raise your hand and claim one! Each tray has anywhere from 1 –5 dishes on it, so you have to be fast if it’s something you like! It was tough, as we don’t speak Catalan and had no idea what anything was — BUT, I’ll eat anything, so it was a great way to try new foods. Prices were very reasonable. Only complaint — their sangria is a bottled version. Not home made.
I will definately go back when in Barca!

You walk in, unassuming, through double doors not so impressive — yet they take you to hall expansive and magnificent. At first sight, it’s easily overwhelming. But the eyes adjust and peer in search of menus, because from a place with this many options, you better reserve the precious real estate that is your stomach space walking around this yolk of a real estate in central Barcelona. Those of you familiar with Eataly — with different sections offering different offerings, it feels like how Eataly would feel if it were Spanish, more upscale, and sans the marketplace-​feel (and sans a market, for that matter). No grocery shopping here, but I was just fine getting cocktails.
Because I’m a seafood girl — and because I had been eating meats and charcuterie for a week in Granada and Sevilla — my friend and I opted for the seafood section. Meanwhile, we waited by getting a cocktail — and I’m only sad to have forgotten its name, because it was truly a memorable one. I forget even the flavors, but I know it was delicious, and it comes in two glasses so you officially double fist. What a luxury at just 12 or 13 euros!
Once seated, we ordered oysters on the half-​shell, a local pasta dish named fideuas that was very good and different, and something yummy that came with giant prawns. I’m sorry that this is all I can muster of the meal 3 months later, but I will tell you this was a place not to miss.
Next time I go, I will explore more menus. Thanks to other Unilocalers, I see that less expensive tapas options are available. I look forward to happily tapas-​hopping within Nacional.

El Nacional is gorgeous on the inside and is a very interesting concept that reminds me of Eataly minus the groceries. It has four restaurants inside and a couple of different bars. We went around 6:30/7 p.m. for dinner thinking that we’d beat the crowd since the Catalan eat closer to 8:30 p.m. Wrong! It is in a very touristy shopping area so plenty of other people were ready to kick their feet up around the same time.
We got lucky and snagged a seat at the wine and cured meat bar, which is exactly where we wanted to be. I ordered a bottle of the Prioriat and the bartender let me try a taste from an open bottle before we got the bottle. It was awful, but it wasn’t because it was an awful wine. The bottle was open too long or something and it had turned into something that resembled vinegar more than wine. Yuck! Got back on track with a different bottle and all was well.
We ordered a ton of jamon, as everybody should do when in Barcelona! They have many different kinds, some of which I didn’t like unfortunately. However, the best jamon iberico de bellota we had while in Barcelona was here. So, based on that alone I recommend giving El Nacional a try for a drink and some jamon.

Estéticamente el sitio es muy chulo. Diferentes barras para comer y tomar algo. El hecho de estar en pleno Passeig de Gracia hace que habitualmente este bastante lleno de gente pero la espera se hace amena mientras tomas algo.

El ambiente es muy lindo y está muy bien ubicado. Tiene varias opciones para comer porque son varios restaurants. El que yo probé en específico estaba muy rico (la brasería) aunque la atención no fue la mejor, igual lo recomiendo. Es un buen lugar para ir por ejemplo con un grupo de amigos del trabajo.

Fui por una comida de trabajo y no sé exactamente si quedé muy contenta.
El lugar como tal es espectacular: la decoración es impecable y a primer contacto todo pareciera que el servicio será asi… pero no.
Hay varias opciones: tapas, pescado fresco, pastelería y brasería (aunque según repasé las cartas no es excluyente, es decir, en la brasería puedes pedir pulpo, por ejemplo).
Nosotras nos decidimos por la brasería. No estaba muy lleno y quisimos una mesa de 4 que nos negaron por la hora, vale. Nos sentamos en una mesa de sofá en una esquina donde nos ignoraron casi todo el tiempo: tuvimos que levantarnos para pedir. Finalmente alguien se ofreció a atendernos, pero tampoco. Ok, pedimos: dos entrecots con patatas fritas + botella de vino. Nos dieron olivas de entrantes, porque pedimos un gesto después de hacernos esperar.
El entrecot llegó: frio. Vaya ¿era la brasería no? Sin sal. No habia sal en la mesa. Bueno, pedimos que lo llevaran porque asi no nos gustaba, lo trajeron de nuevo y estaba mejor. Estaba bien. Las patatas fritas: ok.
Postre? Tarta de limón: no muy dulce, no muy ácido y fresas con chocolate, finalizamos con dos capuccinos.
Nunca entendí la lentitud y el abandono, no estaba tan lleno el sitio y había muchos camareros. Con lo cual, catalogo el servicio como deficiente.

First off, this place is beautiful. Who knew an old parking garage could be transformed into such a magnificent space? Really — Wow!
Of the four restaurants housed in this cavernous food palace, we tried the Taperia. Servers come around bearing plates of tapas — seafood, stews, potatoes, paellas… We were really hoping to get more egg dishes, but only one came around during the 90 minutes we were there.
The desserts didn’t seem all that great, so we skipped it. Do visit the bathroom so you can see the photos of before and after. I could imagine coming here for drinks every now and again — just to soak up the atmosphere. Though everyone seems to be taking selfies here. that could make for a fun drinking game. On second though, you’d be soused within 5 minutes… ok no drinking game to the selfies being taken.
perhaps I’ll try one of the other restaurants. The taperia was ok, but I wouldn’t eat there again.

Markthalle mit diversen Themenrestaurants — ähnlich wie man es aus deutschen Einkaufscentern kennt. Der Fisch war super, die Paella 3 von 5 Sterne. Kein Reinfall.
Das Lokal ist so eine Art Markthalle, wie es sie in vielen Großstädten gibt. Architektur sehenswert. Allerdings sehr laut. Man will sehr schick herkommen, was allerdings nicht immer gelingt.
Insgesamt nicht Fisch, nicht Fleisch. Werde bei meinem nächsten Barcelona Besuch nochmal hin…

This place is very cool, its a large old school market that’s split into several upscale restaurants (fish, meats, tapas, veggies) and specialty bars (cocktails, oysters, wine, beer)
Reminds me of a much more civilized version of Eataly or a upscale version of Gansevoort Market
We went to the tapas bar (similar to most good spots in Barcelona, it will begin to get packed at around 8pm until late). The tapas are priced ~5−10 euros. We got the pot of mussels (very fresh!), patatas bravas, chorizo in cider sauce (I didn’t eat these, but the sauce tasted great), calamari and a couple of glasses of wine. Everything was served quickly and was fresh and tasted great. From the desserts I recommend crema catalana and the pionono (small, but very tasty — you don’t really need a bigger serving)
The whole establishment is very beautiful and I recommend walking around a bit before sitting down at the restaurant of your choosing

Lieu super sympa et tendance de Barcelone, la décoration est à tombé, nous avons dinés au restaurant de poisson «la llotja»,
Juste super beau, mais mauvais rapport qualité prix… les calamars fris à 15 € sans accompagnement ni sauce mais pas deux feuilles de salades.
Assez déçu aussi du pain qui est en supplément et pas de carafe d’eau possible, tout y est payant et il n’y pas de WIFI!!!
Dommage pour un si joli lieu…

Excelente ambiente, 4 opciones diferentes para comer: tapas, mar, mediterráneo y carnes. Yo comí en las tapas y fue muy agradable el rato. Van pasando por las mesas y ofreciendo los diferentes platos con gritos originales.
También tienes 3 opciones para tomarte un trago o comer algo ligero (ej. Ostras)
Hasta los baños tienen algún detalle especial

Nettes Ambiente gepaart mit gehobenen Personal.
Wir wurden wirklich klasse umsorgt und mussten nicht wirklich lang auf unser Essen warten.
Die Portionen sind Okay, meine Dame hat es üblicherweise nicht komplett geschafft, aber für einen Mann sollte es passen.
Klasse Weinkarte und übersichtliche Speisekarte die für die frische der Produkte steht. Alles in allem ganz gut. Habe schon besser gegessen, aber auch schon deutlich schlechter.
Als Urlauber ist das Restaurant einen Versuch wert.
Preislich bewegt es sich zwischen 20 – 30 € p.P. incl. Getränke.

Five stars for atmosphere. El Nacional is a guaranteed good time, the interior is gorgeous, the staff super friendly and the entire restaurant is alive and loud with laughter. Their tapas are great and also lots of fun, you order cold tapas and waiters walk around with hot tapas for you to choose from as they pass by!
Great for groups and celebrations!

What a gorgeous venue with multiple restaurants under one roof! It had such lovely architectural style and accents to highlight the various restaurants. We went to the seafood restaurant towards the back for seafood, paella and cava. Service was nice and attentive, an pd we were so impressed with the look of this venue. It would be a perfect date spot!

Excellent ambiance, dans un grand hall réaménagé très design. Plusieurs restos, chacun avec sa spécialité. Nous avons été à celui à gauche en entrant, plutôt viande: très bon, bien servi et carte des vins exhaustive. Rien à dire, c’est top!

Opened recently in a quite huge former 1870’s textile factory, it shelters four bars and four restaurants: La Braseria for grilled and a la plancha meats, La Paradeta for the seafood, La Llotja for fish in all its forms and La Taperia for tapas and rices. In an atmosphere of super design one can dine or stay in one of the four bars which offer tapas if one wants to eat more slightly and have a drink from a selection of cocktails, beers, cava, wines.
We visited several of the restaurants and every time, we were surprised by quality and ambiance.
It is a must, visiting BCN, to come here, at least, once (and afterwards, it will be probably more often!)

Incontournable er tres près de Avenida Palace. excellent pour happy hour et dégustation d. huîtres

Dans une petite allée parallèle au Passeig de Gracia, on tombe sur cet endroit magnifique. Cela ressemble à une grande et belle serre, avec les vitraux et ornements en fer forgé. A l’intérieur, on découvre une multitude de stands à tapas, avec chacun sa spécialité culinaire (fromage, charcuterie, fruits de mer, etc) ou bibitive!
On n’a malheureusement pas eu le temps d’y manger ou même d’y boire un verre mais ce n’est que partie remise. Ce bel endroit mérite qu’on s’y arrête plus longuement!

très belle endroit à découvrir, la journée ou en soirée, la décoration du lieu est stupéfiante.

Me quedé impresionada con la decoración del lugar. Te hace viajar en el tiempo, al principio del siglo pasado en Francia durante «La Belle Epoque» dónde todo era elegancia. Solo para esta razón hay que experimentarlo.
Fuimos entre semana a La Taperia a las 19h30. Teníamos mesa reservada creo. No había tanta gente al Nacional. Estuvimos sentados a una grande mesa de madera. Es agradable no sentirse apretado. El servicio no fue tan ágil pero con la buen humor. Supongo que están de rodaje. Los precios son medio altos pero tomando en cuenta el establecimiento y su ubicación, me parece un precio «normal».
Un excelente sitio para llevar a clientes, tomar algo con los compañeros de trabajo después del trabajo porque gustará a todos.
Me he quedado con las ganas de volver.

Me dejo impactada El espacio reacatado era un Garage .Como creerlo al bajar esa cuesta y pasar la entrada Fue asombroso era eatar en una epoca a la que no pertenecia pero que bien logrado y que ambiente tan agadable y tan meticuloso el cuidado de cada detalle .Eso sin entrar a hablar de la selección gastronómica q allí encuentraa en un solo lugar. Selecto y muy distinguido y a lla vez que te invita a pasar y quedarte de un lado al otro. Magnífico sentarnis en La Brasserie y degustar desde lechuga al grill estupenda como el resto de las entradas ademas un bacalao sabrosisimo y para finalizar un helado unico de chocolate

Un lugar nuevo que recoge formas de trabajar la restauración de diferentes partes de España, en el tapeo que ellos llaman de subastará es lo que en Málaga hace el Tintero ,
La pescadería es lo que hacen en Cadiz compras el pescado te lo hacen y comes en la mesa.
Las ostras, la carne la coctelería etc lo he conocido en otras partes, pero lo bueno de el nacional es que lo tienes todo en un ambiente fantástico con una excelente decoración, el precio medio alto, un lugar para ir varias veces para conocerlo mejor

Fuimos un grupo grande de 11, hay q reconocer que en estos casos es dificil hacerte una idea realista de lo que es un lugar. La verdad que el local es increible, la decoracion me alucinó y la idea general muy original y cosmopolita. Se trata de un lugar con varias opciones, tienes braseria, focaccieria, restaurante tipo maritimo, bar de cañas y aperitivo y por ultimo la taperia. Nosotros optamos por taperia, estuvimos esperando mas de 1h ya que hay una cola y no cogen reservas y colocar a 11… Complicado. Se nota que el local es nuevo puesto que el personal no tiene mucha experiencia, y los que mas experiencia tienen se les nota forzados, cosa que no me gusta. En cuanto a la comida estuvo bien, tapas trabjadas y no muy caras pero nada del otro mundo. Un handicap importante por si teneis pensado ir en pareja es el ruido… Cuenta final 21 € x cabeza. Estuvo bien, sin mas. Me quedo con la decoracion del sitio, la verdad no se si volvere, ya esta probado.

definitivamente un gran sitio, sólo voy probando la tapería y el bar central, voy yendo 2 veces y la calidad del servicio no deja de defraudarme, la comida también es buena, las tapas van siendo cantadas y tu sólo debes escoger cual quieres. Sin duda un buen lugar para ir con amigos, en pareja.

Un ancien parking réaménagé en un superbe endroit pour boire un verre, manger des tapas, aller au resto. Ça vaut le détour pour le lieu. Le bar tapas est de très bonne qualité et le tout dans un esprit année 30! A faire absolument!

Hacía bastante que esperaba su inauguración y no ha defraudado! Espectacular decoración y más espectacular aún su carne! Cené en la Brasería y comí el mejor solomillo de mi vida! 100% recomendable! Toda una experiencia!

El Nacional qui a ouvert récemment ses portes passeig de gracia dispose de plusieurs espaces selon vos envies, un espace pour le bar à vin avec charcuterie et fromage, pour diner, ou juste pour une bière ou pour un cocktail.
L’endroit est magnifique, presque magique avec un mobilier qui nous fait plonger dans une autre époque!
Je n’y ai pas diner mais je vous conseille d’y prendre un verre pour vous plonger dans l’ambiance du lieu.

Sitio muy original para ir a comer o a tomar algo, tiene pocos días abierto pero pinta bien. Súper céntrico y con precios razonables para la zona y el tipo de comida. Muy al estilo del Mercado de San Miguel pero un poco más fancy.
