Great place, mere steps from the Gracia metro stop. Great rooms, nice comfy beds. More than helpful staff. And a great set up for breakfast. The place we’ll have to stay at again when we go back to Barcelona.

We stayed for four nights in this hotel this april. For the price I paid, I have nothing to complain about. The location of the hotel is very good next to the metro station Gracia. You can go on foot the the famous shopping street Passeig de Gràcia and we even walked to the beach on foot. Sure it is quite a walk but it was very enjoyable with plenty of things to discover. The hotel has also bicycles for rent. Barcelona is the perfect city to discover by bike! Enough opportunities for dining in the neighborhood, Gracia has nice little restaurants and in Exeimple you can find the more expensive ones. The rooms are clean and adequate. I had a good sleep and was not annoyed by the bell tower in front of the hotel at all. Some rooms are bigger have nice balconies which a nice city view. The staff was very friendly and professional. If I come back to Barcelona, I will not hesitate to stay here again. The hotel has only two stars but it has a better standard than this. If you want a good bed, a clean room, a nice bathroom, a good location at a good rate, than this is a good choice for you!

Book this hotel only if you rise early in the morning because the rooms are directly across the street from a very loud bell tower. When it rings(especially on Sundays) the room will shake as we fell out of our beds. The maids should be complimented — especially Ms. Torres-Vela who was very helpful. The rooms are spotless.

I’m not into fancy robes, mints on my pillow or even pay per view porn (okay I like porn but not willing to pay for it). My hotel requirements are simple: safe, clean, private bathroom, near public transportation and free or cheap wi-fi. Hotel Via Augusta is a near perfect hotel. A few blocks walk to the metro, free wifi, clean room with excellent water pressure and very quiet. At times the quiet was eerie, it took some adjusting to, but most travelers seem to crave quiet. I was surprised that : 1. a continental breakfast was included in the price 2. the continental breakfast was pretty decent. I won’t eat eggs that have been sitting around for a while, but the fruit was fresh, the coffee and pastries were good and there were cold cuts if you wanted them for breakfast. FYI — they do have a checklist and you can’t take items back to your room. The staff was mostly excellent and all I met were fluent in English. There was one guy, usually normally worked evening shift(in Sept 2010), who was quite unfriendly. He refused to make eye contact, wouldn’t return greetings and looked pained to be there. In such a well run hotel he was the only blemish. The elevators are kind of slow, but it seems like there always slow in hotels. For about 60 euros a night it exceeded my expectations. Stay Here !!
