The quality of the leather goods is quite high. You have to be prepared to bargain. They start out with high prices then tell you they are giving you a great deal. The older man will make you feel like you’ve insulted him but prepared to walk and you’ll get a better price.

It had long been a dream of mine to own a kickass leather jacket. It was one I had sort of given up because nothing was quite right. I came into Solsona expecting more of the same boring designs made in sweatshops to dubious standards. Never before have I been genuinely thrilled to be proven wrong.
Sr. Solsona, a dapper older gentleman and the owner, guided me around the racks, and everything was almost there but not quite. The combination of pockets didn’t work out or the leather was a bad shade for my skin. Finally he said, «Don’t worry, we’ll make it for you.» I told him I would only be in BCN a few days, and he said «It’s no problem, we have a factory. It’s upstairs.» But there wasn’t enough time, I thought, «Come back tomorrow.» So he called over his tailor he took my measurements. I chose a light, buttery smooth tobacco brown leather with just the pockets I needed. For € 700, it’s my favorite item of clothing.
