A friend of mine is spending the summer working in Tokyo, and she keeps sending tantalizing photos of real Japanese food to our whatsapp group where they are immediately commented on by our Tokyo-ite friends. After 2 months of this, I developed more than a craving for some good Japanese food! Specifically, this time around, sushi. I know there’s no comparison to the real thing, but I decided to risk it anyway. Being that it’s a Sunday, in August, in Barcelona, most places are closed, and I ended up at Yawu. They have a menú del día for slightly less than 13 € which is on the more expensive side, but it includes 4 dishes and dessert or coffee. There are a lot of options and the ladies working today were very patient and helpful. The food was solidly good. I don’t think it would hold up to the standards of what I’ve been hearing about Japanese food in Japan, but compared with the couple of other places I’ve good in Barcelona, Yawu was as good and a better price with great service. By great service I mean friendly, patient, helpful, and attentive but not oppressive. They also listened and made my cortado just the way I like it!
