Part clothing store. Part record store. Part rock n roll shrine. This hip spot pays tribute to all things rawk! With books, jewelry, comics, vinyl, shirts, pants… and a wall of a sound. And they feature the occasional live show so check the calendar. They’ve even got a recording studio for your aural pleasures.

What a cool concept shop. We were lured in by the small cluster of customers taking photos of a huge sculpture of old hi-fis, 8 tracks, turntables, amps and speakers piled against the wall in the large, high-ceiling room. It’s hard not to be impressed and amused when you stand before it. I had to get my photo taken before it next, it’s just too rad not to. We bided our time, scoping out the scene. The vinyl(no cds) collection is small but it’s good, comprised of rock and roll greats like: Spiritualized, Guns and Roses, Queens of the Stone Age, Mogwai, more… A song by Hole blared from the store’s speakers while we sifted through the truly great Cheap Monday label clothing selection. I used to shop this label back in the States at Urban Outfitters. It’s good quality, hip and very reasonably priced. Nicely fitting skinny jeans in an array of colors and washes for 45 eur. Nice! And they also have great mens’ shirts, cardigans and jackets, too. All very rock and roll. Further re-enforcing my easy theory that the owners love rock and roll– one of said owners struck up a conversation with us when we asked him if he minded us taking a photo of the hi-fi sculpture. And what a swell guy!, the epitome of «majo»(very nice) and cool, he said of course we could and without provocation launched into a small history of the sculpture. And the philosophy behind his store. He told us that the sculpture was«on the road» and that what we were seeing was just a part of the piece. The main installation is at the social/cultural center La Casa Encendida and would later move on to another one in another town. Cuervo Music is a music store, an art space, a clothing store, a place where bands can rent out the rehearsal space downstairs, and occassionally they host live perfomances on the main floor. Also, that small vinyl collection? Well it’s more special than we thought– most of the albums are special, collectors editions. How cool is that!
