The steak and pork was delicious! It had a lot of flavor and paired very well with the side dishes, which was on the house! This restaurant is a local favorite. The menu is only in Spanish so I knew it was not touristy. It was by far the best meal I had in Spain! The location is a one minute walk from the Egyptian temple.

When we’re in the mood for a nice glass of red wine, served in a warm, comfortable, lively(after 11pm) atmosphere, along with some tasty complimentary tapas, or something shareable off a more varied, interesting menu than you typically find in neighborhood bars, this is where we head. I’d say that we’ve visited the place at least 8 times in the past 8 months and never once have we had a disappointing experience. The food is always good, albeit we’ve only ever had the comp tapas and a couple of «raciones»(shareable portion), but they’ve always been very tasty and properly served(ie temperature, freshness). And the service is really excellent, in my opinion. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. They know that I am a pescetarian, so they always come up with a good tapa for me like, brie with caramalized onion and anchovies with guacamole. Last time we were there the lovely waitress stopped me from ordering a full portion of mixed seafood and insisted that if we ordered the half portion we would be more than satisfied. And she was dead right. It was close to midnight and we had not eaten dinner, yet we were unable to finish the half portion that we ordered. My husband even exclaimed that the«chopitos»(fried baby squid) were the best he’d ever tasted. As far as the wine list goes, well, it’s modest but it’s solid. There is a rioja and a ribera there that’s delicious(sorry I can’t remember the details), and my husband loves the red from Madrid. Prices per glass run from 1,80−2,70. You do have the option to dine, or have a nice lunch, as well. The menu is intriguing. Like I said, the tapas and the raciones passed the test with me and my native Madrileño husband, and it’s not the common spanish bar fare. This place is more like a restaurant(which you will find on the second level). Downstairs, you have the bar and it’s a good size– with plenty of bar stools and tables, an elevated flat screen tv tuned indefinitely to a video music station(music is only slightly audible). This is not one of your packed to the gills bars where there’s standing room only and you have to shout your conversations. It’s just popular enough to keep your blood pumping along nicely and help take the edge off a busy day, or otherwise.
