Taj Mahal

Visited 14÷02÷09.
As a Brit expat local resident, I was enthused to hear that an indian restaurant had opened up in Santiago, so my wife and I went along with high expectations. It being a Saturday, there was no set menu so we had to choose a là carte. The starters, chicken pakora and onion bhaji were tasty, but the portions were small, as were the main courses, Vegetable Biryani (rather bland) and Chicken Jefrizi. With 1 nan bread and two local beers the bill came to 37 euros, which seemed a lot for little. We were disappointed, because for this price local Spanish resaurants provide much better quantity and quality. I think I’ll wait till my next visit to Brick Lane before I try another curry.
PS– added on 21÷02÷09 — I walked past the Taj Mahal during the week, and noticed that they had a set menu up for 10 euros, which seems quite reasonable. So if you do decide to go, make it at luchtime during the week to avoid the à la carte prices.

Das Taj Mahal hat Anfang Nov 2008 eröffnet und ist ein kleines aber sehr feines indisches Restaurant.
Im EG kann man an der Bar sitzen und im 1 OG befindet sich ein kleiner Speiseraum mit 4 Tischen mit je 4 Stühlen. Die Wände sind hübsch in blau gehalten. Leise Musik dient als Untermalung zu einem köstlichen und preisgünstigen Menü.
Der Kellner spricht 11 Sprachen, darunter fließend Englisch und ein paar Brocken Deutsch.
Wir entscheiden uns für zwei Tandori mit Kalbfleisch und Garnelen. Dazu gibts Tandoribrot und Reis und leckeres indisches Bier.
Wir können dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen.
