Ocean view rooms(no ac) are outstanding with small balcony overlooking the beach boardwalk. Quality linens and comfortable pillows although no in room fridge or safe. The ocean breeze more than makes up for no ac and the ocean view rooms face west for sunset and late morning sleep ins. Clean bright and worth the expense.

Come for the location, stay for the… really old elevator? Definitely one of my lesser favorites of the 5 hospitality locations we visited while in Spain. While Hotel Niza does sport a fantastic oceanfront locale practically *in* the water, its additional amenities and guest room accommodations are pretty lackluster. You can tell from the moment you step foot in the Niza, it’s old. Old can be charming, and many facets of Niza are; ahem the vintage elevator with manual doors certainly is. However, the tiny bathrooms, and super minimalist quarters leave a bit to be desired. In an attempt to secure a bit more space and an additional bathroom for our group of four women, we booked a triple occupancy room along with a single. Imagine our surprise when we discovered the single to be nothing more than a twin-sized closet with an efficiency bathroom and the triple to be little more than a big king-sized bedroom with a tiny twin bed tucked in the room’s foyer along with a single-sink bathroom with shower/tub combo. A single sink? In a TRIPLE occupancy? Yup. Niza uncovered its vintage building bones with that one. While much has been updated around the hotel, rooms are still ‘back-in-the-day’ sized and have some serious catching up to do. Staff was a mix of either super friendly or downright rude. The(what appeared to be) husband/wife duo that worked the front desk during the days almost seemed to have a good cop/bad cop act going that we never quite got the point of. Him giving us the cold shoulder and frequent eye rolls and her being accommodating to the hilt. Hmm, we *are* paying customers after all, shouldn’t you both be good cops? Niza also boasts a really great restaurant with a bit of acclaim in its basement, Narru, which I enthusiastically recommend, and a small café for breakfast, lunch and casual dinner, Narru Bar, which is pretty skipable unless you’re dying for coffee and croissant pre-shopping. Location pristine. Luxury poor. Just OK and not much more.

This hotel is the worst! Rooms are super tiny and the majority of them do not have AC. It is an older hotel that is trying to be more upscale and it is not working for them. But the worst of it all is that the customer service is horrible! You can only get new towels to use once and only at 7pm! The hotel is right on the beach but when coming back from the beach you can’t even walk into the hotel to get to your room without a shirt or shoes on. I would never stay here again. The staff is horrible and not accommodating at all! If Unilocal would let me I wouldn’t even give them 1 star.

There is some old world charm to this hotel which sits overlooking the water. Unfortunately the day we got here, our first, it was pouring rain, weather that followed me from Madrid. Cool locale and good space unfortunately does not make up for the fact that the bathroom is really old and there is a linger of smoke smell that my friend couldn’t really take for more than a night. The parking lot below is hellish. super tight, and sharp cornered. Maneuvering is just a bitch. Luckily this lead us to search another which turned out to be the best of all the stays…
