Me sentí engañado. No recomendable.

Went here tonight with some friends in our quest for the perfect glass of wine. I had a vino tinto and we also ordered some snacks — some cheeses with walnuts and then some pulpo/squid that was well cooked and seasoned. The place was rather crowded but that’s a good thing because face it, who wants to go to an empty bar, bodega, etc.

When it comes to wine and cheese, I will go to great lengths to satisfy my cravings. Although Asubio was insanely crowded and noisy, with hardly enough room to make a path to walk back to the bar, I was determined to eat cheese from Cantabria(sadly, which is very under-rated and not readily available here in the US) and enjoy a glass of Cigales. [1] So yes, I had a glass of wine(which wasn’t as dry as some of the other rose wines from Cigales, unfortunately), but I’m not really sure I enjoyed it. But not because of the taste of the wine or the prices(because this tapas bar is trendy, everything is more expensive than nearby bars). The three barkeeps were these pouty hipster girls, who very obviously and loudly talked about me as I waited at the bar for my tapa of melted Cobreces cheese to be prepared.(Too bad I understood and gave that girl a very dirty look.) It took about 10 minutes for my cheese to arrive from the kitchen. I loved it; but there was a little too much orange marmalade to accompany the cheese, which I revere as its own special food group. Overpriced, mediocre wine and rude service gave me all the more reason to have Round 2 of wine down the street(which I did). Why this place is so crowded, I will never understand! [1] Inexpensive rose wine — but definitely not like white zinfandel!
