LOVE this place. Anytime I’m in town for work, I make sure to get a meal here. The chicken is out of control delicious. Don’t be turned off by the hole-in-the-wall location or lack of bells and whistles. This is some of the best food in Maryland! And so cheap! Understand that you’re getting a meal for less than $ 10, so there isn’t real cutlery or cloth napkins. This is blue collar food and it is the BOMB. I recommend getting a meal, with chicken and the green beans and plantains for sides. Get both sauces on the side.

First time Peruvian food and it was good. The chicken is delicious and the side are decent. I will definately try again while in Aberdeen. My hubby and I was very pleased.

I definitely needed my GPS the 1st time — but it’s not like you’re lost or in some bizarre area that making a quick u turn will even matter to get to the place. Some parking out front — sitting is plentiful and the counter/kitchen is pushed back to the far end of the restaurant– Friendly staff/Bilingual of course– Everything looks neat and clean. There wasn’t many customers but I’m coming before most get off of work(415pm) and there’s a couple hrs prior to standard dinner time(6pm) — I decided on take out — smells good — looks good — I didn’t forget to get the«Green Sauce» — The lighter sauce is very HOTTT if that’s what you like… The food is well prepared and delicious — ohhhhh the MENUHASCHANGED… So checkout at or Call(410) 272‑2203 /(410) 273−1619… I have LEFTOVERSYEAAAAAA(Definitely get 2Green Sauces n Mix with the White Sauce– Yummy)

The lomo saltado is fabulous here! Tender & flavorful steak with yummy rice, fries and the fried plantains are very delicious. I had to take a star because when I ordered previously they subbed my fries for yucca because they were all out of fries. I wouldn’t have minded a subsitution but they didn’t even give me the option to choose and I’m not a huge fan of yucca. Still a very good place to eat, reasonable prices and one of the very few places in Aberdeen worth checking out.

I was so excited to find this place right outside of APG. Thanks Unilocal!Aberdeen isn’t exactly the gourmand’s paradise, and this is a welcome addition to the lunch roundup. I had the chicken Rico sub, which is chicken, cheese, red onions, bacon, and sauce. The sauce is a great smoky/sweet BBQ-type sauce. It was a great sandwich. I will probably add lettuce and tomato next time. I asked for rice and beans instead of fries, and they upcharged me, but it was worth it. The rice and pinto beans were flavorful and delicious, and reheated well when I wanted to eat more later. The sub is two halves of an 8 or 9-inch, fairly large, cut in half and served in a styrofoam container with the rice and beans. It’s a good amount of food– I ate it for lunch and dinner. They included two side sauces with my sandwich– a white and a green. White is slightly spicy, green is medium spicy. Price was reasonable at $ 7 for the sandwich plus a $ 1 upcharge for substituting rice/beans for the fries. Service could have been a bit friendlier, but no real complaints. Will definitely be back. Can’t wait to try the plantains and yuca!

We ordered the whole chicken with two sides. The chicken was tender, moist, and well seasoned. Our sides were the plantain and the cabbage. Both were delicious. The service was unaccommodating. The chicken is definitely a must try and do not expect much hospitality or customer service.

I just discovered SCR a couple weeks ago and I’ve had it twice this week alone. We always get a whole chicken with rice and beans. I’ve never had Peruvian food, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I explain it as «if you had a Peruvian grandmother and she put all of her love into a dish it would be the chicken and rice»! It is so well seasoned and it is truly a find! I personally don’t like beans, but my friend loves them mixed into the brown rice. Will be back many times to come!

Very solid Pollo a la brasa joint. They do it in the typical Peruvian style and they do it quite well. The chicken is very nicely seasoned and obtains a nice smokey flavor. The texture is pretty darn good though a higher level of perfection could probably be attained through trussing or cooking the parts separately. We also got sides of fried plantains and fried yucca. Both were quite tasty. The yucca had a solidly crispy exterior with oily flavor that was enjoyable. The interior of some of the pieces still was a bit overly starchy and dry. The plantains were sweet but a bit too gooey. Check this place out if you’re popping through.

Authentic Peruvian. It was awesomely delicious! We were looking for a great«hole in the wall» restaurant for lunch on the way down to So. Md. from Philadelphia. We got off I-95 and in just a few miles we got a GREAT and satisfying lunch. We would definitely go back when we are on the road again.

Ok, so I will have to say that the selections in Aberdeen are not the greatest, so I kept looking. This is exactly why I love Unilocal! You can find the little hidden gem that is so unassuming. I ordered the ¼ chicken white with the plantains and red potatoes. I got asked which dipping sauce I want, a green or a white to which I promptly said yes! I could’ve eaten the food there as they have ample seating, but had just been across the street at the Beverage Barn, so took my to go meal back to the hotel to discover the abundance of taste I could tell I was in for just from the aromas of my bag. Oh my! These flavors are so delish! The spices on the toasted chicken are amazing! Dip it into the green sauce and POW another wealth of flavor!!! The red potatoes have just the right amount of spices and the plantains just melt in your mouth and are oh soooo good! I will be headed back here in this trip if I can pull it off, if not then next time for sure. I would recommend this to anyone. I just wish my stomach was big enough to order more!!!

There’s a cruel fact of life that not too many people are willing to acknowledge or admit and that is the food in Aberdeen — in general — sucks. To make matters worse, Belcamp is practically a food desert so lunches are tough for me. I’ve never had Peruvian food before so I don’t have a baseline, but I do know good food. My latest pregnancy has caused me to develop a regular craving for ethnic cuisine. When I saw the Unilocal reviews for this place, I knew I had to go. Popped in to Super Chicken Rico at 12 pm on a Thursday and the line. was. long. Aside from the ladies working the counter, I was the only female in the place. Clearly, all of the employees on APG and students at the nearby tech campus are clued in to the awesomeness that is SCR. All around me were nerdy guys talking about electronics and programming and networking, but luckily the line moved fast. When I got to the front of the line, the woman behind the counter grabbed a whole chicken and butchered it quickly into quarters. Her tongs hovering above, she asked what I wanted for lunch. I ordered ¼ chicken, Mexican rice, and plantains and paid $ 7 and some change for it. Didn’t get a soda although I probably should have. I’d never had plantains before and was super excited but I thought they were overrated. I was hoping they’d be. crunchier. they were mushier than expected, and I just didn’t really care for them. Next time, I’m going for the cabbage. The rice was tasty but the real star of the show was the chicken — as it should have been. Very flavorful, moist, cooked perfectly — exactly what rotisserie chicken should be. The seasoning really hit the spot and satisfied my ethnic craving. To make it even more amazing, they served it with a side of delicious yellow something. The green something(I read a prior review — jalapeño purée? No wonder it burned my face off.) was too spicy for me so next time I’m going to do what the guy in front of me did and ask for two yellow sauces, no green. And believe you me, there WILL be a next time. :)

Having had phô for lunch, I thought why not try the other place in town I’ve been wanting to find(it’s hidden in a strip mall), and I wound up with their Lomo Saltado, which is beef with onion and tomato over rice and french fries. They didn’t have the ceviche ready, but that’s okay. Maybe it’s because I haven’t had any Peruvian or Cuban food since I left Georgia but I found the food here to beexcelltent :) The steak just melted and was as tender as it could get. The veggies complemented everything well, and by the time I finished there was little left. There’s another Super Chicken Rico down the road on the way to Edgewood; I’l try them later in the week or next weekend, for a comparison.

Came here based on high Unilocal review. Food was excellent both times. I had the ½ chicken with Plantains, rice, & green beans. Chicken is best Peruvian chicken I’ve had so far and fried plantains are a «must side». Atmosphere decent. Clean and casual. Staff. Female staff could stand to be a little friendlier but it’s a busy place. Highly recommend to anyone visiting or passing though the area. Service is very fast so it’s perfect for lunch break if you’re ordering the chicken combos.

My go to place other than Carsin’s Run while I lived in Aberdeen. The owner here is very genuine and friendly. The chicken here is roasted the Peruvian way. If you are looking for something good and in the mood for some ethnic food. This is your place. Let’s be real though, it is 4 stars for Aberdeen. It may hold a candle to the other Peruvian restaurants, but if that was the case the review would be 3 stars.

This is a great place to pick up a quick meal. We always get the ½ chicken meal with 2 sides. LOVE the rice and beans! And the yellow sauce is like crack! SOGOOD! In addition, the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful.

I’m somewhat taken-aback by how overrated all these Unilocal reviews are. The audience in Aberdeen is easy to impress. I’ve eaten 5-star Peruvian food. This is not it. But it’s probably the only decent Peruvian food option for 20+ miles, so it fulfills a purpose dutifully. The food options are decent. Peruvian dine-in/take-out restaurants in MD follow a very similar model, line-up and fill your plate or styrofoam box with chicken and sides. Get a drink and you’re good to go. The chicken is good but not great. The sides are very disappointing as the Yuca is generally very dry and tasteless, the plantains are not given in sufficient proportions, the mixed veggies are bland… it’s disappointing overall. But as said, it fulfills a purpose. The bathroom is okay. Seating is limited for lunch rush. The parking options are limited but sufficient most of the time. The atmosphere is acceptable. Remember folks, 5-stars is supposed to be the best you can get. With affordable prices, this place is worth visiting once every other month. But there are so many better options for Peruvian food throughout MD and DC.

After all the great reviews we decided to stop here for lunch on our way to Baltimore, and we are glad we did. I would call this Peruvian junk food, so be ready for a fatty splurge. It tastes really good, but there was a pool of liquid grease in my takeout container after I finished my sandwich. My husband and I shared both the Chicken Rico sandwich and a chicken BBQ sandwich. The style of sandwich reminds me of po’ boys, if you’re familiar with Cajun food. They were similar, both with the roasted chicken, ranch dressing, lettuce, onion, tomato, on a soft roll, and add bbq sauce for the bbq one. The french fries weren’t great but we did go after the lunch rush so maybe they rushed a new batch for us? They weren’t crispy and got a lot of the fatty oil from the sandwich on them in my takeout container. I regret that we didn’t try the plantains or some of the other menu items, but we will go back next time we head south. The staff was very friendly and food was made to order very quickly(we were there between 1 and 2pm on a week day). The restaurant was clean and organized when we were there. I am posting a couple photos of the menu because I had such a hard time finding anything for them online(no website nor menu page). Another Unilocaler put a menu up but I could barely read it.
