This is a classic hole in the wall. If you like fried fish, chicken, hush puppies, etc. this place is for you. The service was excellent and the food was great. I will definitely make a return trip.

This was my first and last time I will eat here. The menu had food on it which got on my hand, and my fork and knife had hair on it. We order an appetizer which had fried bacon, onion rings, and pickles. The breading on the food was bland. It basically was plain flour fried food. I ordered the seafood combo which came with fried shrimp, stuffed crab, fish fillet, hush puppies, and fries. The fish fillet were so skinny it was fish sticks, the stuffed crab was bland and over fried, as well as the hush puppies and, the fries were soggy. The only reason I’m giving this place 2 Stars is because the waitress was nice.

I’m not such a big fan of Seafood, so I had some chicken fried steak with a salad and side of fries. In my opinion it was very over seasoned, the fries were home-styled and delicious, and the salad was fresh. The chicken fried steak was also more grilled or cooked than fried… Maybe change the CFS a little and have a better review. Would I eat there again?: Depends.

For forty dollars you would think that you would get fried food instead of dried rubbery microwave warmed food: fried shrimp and fried catfish filets. I also thought you can’t screw up hush puppies or cole slaw but I was wrong. Hush puppies are not supposed to be chewy. I won’t even waste the leftovers on a hungry dog. This was also take out food and not on the regular lunch rush but that should be no excuse for the entire meal being a waste. Terrible with a capital T !!!

This place was caught recycling/reusing food a few years back. I’ll never set foot in here again. Shame on you!

This is hard for me to write. I have been coming here since I was a child. I am in my thirties now. I came back to Abilene tx for Mother’s Day. We all wanted to eat catfish. We decided to eat here. What a bad idea. Food had no flavor. Service was horrible. The place was dirty. Bugs — chairs ripped dirt along the walls. Why. This place use to be awesome. They have lost there way. Hope they fix this soon.

Came here for dinner. My boyfriend’s family raves about the catfish here. We all ordered the«all you can eat catfish». It comes with two sides. I got a baked potato and a salad. I ordered«thin and crispy» for my catfish because I prefer the crispier texture. The catfish was very good! It was crispy, flaky, everything you would want in a fried catfish. I barely touched my sides because I didn’t want to fill up. I liked it here because I was not the buffet style where you get however much you want. They make it fresh as you order more.

Even while breaking in a new cook and being slammed by Friday night crowds, they wowed us as always. Waitresses are so friendly and on the ball. They will be remodeling soon.

Have been told this is the best place in town for catfish. No frills for sure, my overall experience was that it’s a bit uneven. The catfish itself is good, not great. The hush puppies and fries also good, although not especially fresh tasting, like they’d been sitting under a heat lamp for a little bit. These are the things you can’t mess up at at a catfish place and they do an okay job. My wife’s cole slaw, another catfish side-dish must have, looked decent and she said it was fine. The side salad was just iceberg lettuce, under-ripened tomatoes and a couple of hamburger pickles. Why they put pickles on a salad is beyond me. Regional thing? I was hoping for some awesome homemade ranch from a place like this, but it was way too sweet. Perhaps store-bought, which isn’t a crime, but you can’t just go with off brand junk. Our server was super-friendly, but way over-extended in a section of at least 6 – 8 tables that came in all at once. I asked for an extra cole slaw, which never came and my iced tea remained empty for the majority of the evening. The did come out fast, which was nice. Overall, nothing too impressive. They do the main dishes justice, but there is plenty they could improve on with service and staffing. I would return if I was really in the mood for catfish but didn’t have time to trek out to Deutchlander.

The most greasy food I have ever ate. I was doubled over on cramps from the amount of grease. The service was horriable and wait staff was short and very rude. Will not eat there again

Had lunch there today about 1245. Busy but ok. We only saw one server on our side but she kept up and checked on us frequently. The small catfish plate was just right. Fish had a good taste and texture. The fries seemed a little underdone and the salad was … not the best. Good hush puppies! If you enjoy good catfish then it’s worth the visit. Not a fancy place but good food at a good price.

The best whole in the wall catfish and shrimp place in town. It’s great. Not fancy. You seat yourself. Very casual atmosphere. No alcohol but you can bring your own. Gets busy quick.

This is fried food. if you don’t like or eat fried food; go elsewhere. For fried food, this is 5stars. French fries are not covered in this review. Order the onion rings as an appetizer while you wait! the chicken and fish are THE items to order. cole slaw is OK. The salad is iceberg lettuce, not exciting. Be sure to get hush puppies! Ask for what you need/want, and you will get it. if you don’t ask, you may not enjoy your experience.

This review is from someone who’s lived in South Mississippi and loves seafood. Waitress was nice but looked to be by herself to cover 20+ tables plus the register. This made things slow. Ordered three 5 piece catfish plates with fries and salad plus fried pickles. Catfish was«OK». Nothing like what I’m used to but not bad for West Texas. Fries were bad. Soggy from being over saturated in oil. Regret not trying the onion rings. Saw those at someone else’s table and they looked better than the fries. Salad was small but ok. Fried pickles were pretty good. Overall, I doubt I come back here. I just expected better based on other reviews.

Everyone talks about how good the hamburgers at this catfish joint are. Well, their right. Burger was cooked just right and the fries were yummy. I’ll be back.

This place is fantastic. I am in town for work and have been searching for good places to eat. Based on the few Unilocal reviews, I decided to take a chance here. From the exterior, it’s a little old or divey(well, from the inside too), but when I drove up, the parking lot was full. That’s a good sign. I walked in, they had only one waitress working and she was fabulous. The other employees helped her out as much as they could and got my order(and all the people who walked in after me). The food came out quickly and it was worth an chaos. I ordered half a pound of boiled shrimp and the small fried catfish plate. I have nothing to complain about. The shrimp was big and delicious. It was simple and yummy. The catfish was very good and the cole slaw was yummy. If you’re in Abilene, you should really go to the Catfish Corner.

We were in town and looking for a place to have a quick bite on a Saturday around lunchtime. This place looked crowded, so we stopped in. The food was great. Very down home, fried catfish cooking. It reminded me of the yummy sides and fish served at fish frys when I was a kid. Later we told our friends about it who are native to Abilene and it turned out it was one of their favorite spots too. I’m glad we serendipitously arrived here!
