I don’t know what they could do better – they were friendly, they have stacks of $ 2 records to dig through, they played cool music in the store. I mean there’s nothing to improve upon in the land of used records. So we found some John Lennon, Alarm and Frankie Goes to Hollywood in the $ 2 bin. AND we found the old Jungle Book storybook album. They have tons of stuff in the«we know what it’s worth» bin. You can get your Hendrix, Stones, Queen and Marley if you want to pay what it is reasonably worth. Or you can dig and dig and hope you get lucky in the $ 2 bin. We did a little bit of both. They do keep the new arrivals separate so if you are a frequent shopper you don’t have to revisit the stuff you’ve already dug through – I LOVETHAT. My daughter is of the«it sounds so much better on vinyl» so she is very excited about finding the Record Guys.

Hard to vouch for a place that keeps a record player that isn’t theirs. Had one send for repairs and they kept it claiming they had never received it. Not an honest business.

This is always a fun place to stop by when I have day off. Well set up, decorated, and generally inviting! Has the look and vintage feel you’d expect from a classic vinyl shop! Pretty robust collection, though I wish they had a larger selection of punk. It would also be nice if they carried more recent vinyl offerings but not entirely necessary. Huge collection of rock, country, R&B. Plenty of stacks to dig through. They have some rad posters and t-shirts available too! Probably coolest is their selection of restored record players. They have always have a lot to choose from, they’re in great condition, and reasonably priced! The staff is very friendly and helpful. I’d have to say that this is one of my favorite shops in Abilene and I believe its existence makes the town a better place!

What a great find! I visited Abilene for my son’s baseball tournament and had some free time. I am glad I found Record Guys. Kevin and Jon Howell are two of the most knowledgable music people I have ever talked too. As a former used cd store manager, club promoter and club owner I am hard to impress. Kevin showed me a vintage technics Sl-D303 turntable that I ended up picking up with a jvc reciever and vintage advent speakers for only 250 bucks. There have an incredible amount of clean used vinyl for 2 – 5 dollars plus a lot of collector vinyl for way below ebay. I went back three times over a weekend and plan on making the 4 hour drive from San Antonio to pick up more classic vinyl. Thanks guys for making my trip well worth it. See you soon!

Abilene is lucky to have this place. –Super friendly staff with huge smiles on their faces. –Well organized store. –Best used LP prices I’ve ever seen at a record store(competition includes Waterloo Records, End of an Ear, Zia Records, Breakaway Records, Doc’s Records, Good Records, Antone’s Records). –Decent inventory(I look forward to seeing what they have next time). –Smells like your grandparents basement(this is a good thing). Haul $ 27.00(!!!) Black Sabbath — Paranoid LP(original pressing) Black Sabbath — Masters of Realit y LP(original pressing) Golden Smog — Weird Tales CD The Velvet Underground & Nico — s/t CD

Record Guys is an incredible place with personable, knowledgable staff and a great selection of records! The records are usually between $ 2 – 5, unless you’re looking for a rare album(and even then, I’ve never seen one for more than $ 20.) The guys at the store remember me when I come in and usually have recommendations based on what I’ve purchased in the past! They’re easy and fun to talk to, and they’re almost never wrong in their predictions of what I’ll enjoy. I strongly encourage anyone beginning a record collection(or supplementing their established collection) to keep an eye out for a Record Guys brown bag sale. For only $ 5 you can sift through boxes of in sorted albums until you’ve filled up your large brown paper sack! I’ve found some real gems(Beatles, Rush, Rolling Stones, REM). All in all, Record Guys is a bright spot in the often-mundane music scene of Abilene.

I am not really into records at all. I don’t hardly buy music anymore. I went in here one time because I bought an antique 78 record player, and wanted a couple of random records to throw on it. I don’t know much about record stores, but I have to say, this one was awesome. They sell all kinds of records; 45s, 33s, 78s. They sell record players, in case you don’t have one to play the records on. They have a huge selection of records; all kinds of awesome bands. The guy working behind the counter was the owner’s dad. He was extremely nice, and extremely helpful. He walked me through basic record selection, how to set them up, how to play them, all kinds of stuff. The customer service in here is exceptional. The store front is awesome looking, and walking inside is super cozy. It’s just a great place in Abilene; a real charm for sure. I can’t say I will be returning much, because like I said; I’m just not into records or buying music(I listen to the radio, mostly). But this place is great, and I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in music to give this place a shot; it’s awesome!

I agree 100% with Noël K.‘s review. Record Guys is a real highlight of Abilene. The owners are eager to make sure you have the best experience you can and will go out of their way to ensure that you leave with what you’re looking for. With a distinct lack of the indier-than-thou pretentiousness that is so common in indie record shops and a great selection of records to be had on the cheap, this is a business that is definitely worth supporting.

One of the few highlights of Abilene. The majority of records are priced 2 — 5 bucks. Record guys definitely care about making records available to the geeks who crave them. You will not encounter any hipper-than-thou bespectacled pretentiousness(which is a truly beautiful thing to those of us who are accustomed to shopping for records in larger cities) — the record guys are all so chill and actually have a conversation with you while you shop for records rather than vehemently arguing with their fellow employees about which live Cocteau Twins bootleg is superior. Or whatever those guys argue about. If you don’t support this shop your rights to complain about how lame Abilene is are officially revoked.
