Went for the Chicken Sandwich(5.49) after asking if it was pulled chicken and getting an answer that it was. In reality it was mostly just a fatty whole thigh, with lots of unmelted fat and flabby skin. Smoke flavor was ok but the meat itself was bland and heavy. No seasoning whatsoever, and I wasn’t impressed with the sauces. Versatile places do poultry lean and juicy, but this was anything but. Overpriced(even as the cheapest sandwich) but saved somewhat by the complimentary homemade bread and cornbread.

Get the Brisket!!! Juicy beef, fat trimmed, and tasty BBQ sauce! I got the sandwich with a side of brisket at noon for the first time. I came back for the same thing for dinner and it was delicious! My family got the bbq special and a side but I would recommend this place primarily for the Brisket. We didn’t eat inside because I was in a rush today. I am happy to have found this place!

Went through drive thru. Could not read worn out menu. Paid 20 for a three meat meal, should have gone to Whataburger… would have been cheaper and more meat.

Brisket and ribs are good but the sides were not impressive. What looked like mashed potatoes turned out to be potato salad. I don’t like cold potatoes so I was disappointed. They have no hot potatos like fries, mashed or backed potatoes.

Staff seemed a little confused in getting orders input. Food was so so. Kitchen is open to public view but customer area was a little dirty looking & dull. Will not go back

I had the brisket sandwich and it was amazing. Juicy and full of flavor. Great place to stop for a quick bite and a beer

My parents live here in Abilene and whenever I’m in town we love to go here. Everything is just plain good and I’ve never had a bad meal. I usually get the brisket and you can’t miss with that. All the sides are great but I’ve never gotten to the desserts yet I always eat too much. Love the casual atmosphere too. I know it’s great for lunch and gets really crowded but it’s great for dinner too! Don’t pass this one up!!!

I just wrote a whole effing review that UnilocalLOST. So I’m going to have to write it again which will make it way shorter and me way more agitated – which in no way should reflect on the restaurant. Jalapeño creamed corn is good, green beans standard, whipped potato salad pretty good, jalapeño cornbread is good. Brisket is okay, burnt ends are too tough. You have to get those right. Burnt ends are the alter where you pray to the BBQ gods, gotta get that right, baby. Jalapeño smoked sausage is good. Sauces – all of them – are good and made there. Main thing I like is that you get a one time pass down the self serve sides bar. If I went to college there I would make this work for me.

Yep, as others have said we just paid for Kraft macaroni and cheese(Kraft type I mean, I doubt it was even Kraft it wasn’t even that cheesy) with a little brisket on top. Drinks tasted funky as well. Meat was okay but the portions were small and the brisket is definitely not up to Texas bbq standards. The tables were also dirty and the staff, while not quite rude, were definitely not pleasent. Oh, and just for the record being forced to listen to contemporary christian music did not enhance the dining experience. Pretty much made it worse.

A busy lunch time. Food was good although the corn — always a favorite — didn’t seem to be quite the same. Well worth a visit.

Did I really pay almost $ 7.00 for Kraft Mac & Cheese?! From reading other reviews, I wasnt the only one to see it. What is so funny is that I was on my way to the grocery store to pick up mac & cheese for my daughter. I thought, «let me stop here and get the real stuff.» I don’t want to annihilate the place, but I honestly hope they see this and make some changes.

She definitely has the better potato salad and the classier restaurant. Prices are a little more than Joe Allen’s. Meats taste the same to me.

Walk in and order your meats. I thought the pork ribs I got were incredibly tender and flavorful. The sausage was also quite tasty. Brisket was good as well. I would recommend it!

I just left Sharon’s and I can say that the ambience leaves a lot to be desired, but it is by far the best ribs I’ve ever had in this state. slow cooked, meaty and all the fat was rendered out. sauce was nice and tangy perfect ribs and I went twice to make sure, I also tried the German sausage and the brisket. the sausage and brisket were good.

Sharon’s meat is decent. I guess it depends on who is in the kitchen on that particular day. Its good enough to take our much more sophisticated«Yankee» family members when they visit for good eats and a good time! I love to pile my plate up with all the sides that will fit without spilling over! They are amazing! Jalapeño Cream Corn(5 Stars), Baked Beans(5 Stars), Green Beans(6 Stars).

Good BBQ! People were friendly and the food was good! Try their creamed corn and the jalapeño corn bread, plus the pork ribs, of course!

I have been a customer at Sharon’s for many years and enjoy their food, however, as I went through the drive through tonight to order to-go for my family, including my daughter, I was informed I am no longer allowed to order kids meals through the drive through. When I called later to speak with the manager on duty, Nate, I was informed this was a rule implemented by the GM and he had to enforce it. I will likely not return due to this new rule and the way it was handled for this long time customer.

Really good brisket and ribs. There were 5 of us and we all agreed that the jalapeño corn was out of this world

My favorite BBQ in Abilene. I usually get a brisket plate or sausage plate. YUMYUM However, they tend to fill a to go container so full that the lids barely stay on. Be careful when you order to go items.

As soon as you step through the door to Sharon’s, you’re greeted by a great smokey aroma and a display case showing off their different meat options. The interior is set up with cozy frontier-style décor plastered across the walls: chairs, old photographs, and other assorted wooden nick-nacks. The frontier motif seems to fit well with their boot-and-hat clientele. As pleasant as the dining room was, the restrooms were pretty gross. I’m assuming they mop the floors once in a while. However, the walls, trashcan, soap dispenser, and fake decorative plants looked like they had never been cleaned or even dusted. The menu I saw online advertised both jalapeño sausage and German sausage, but when I arrived I noticed that there was no sign or mention of the jalapeño variety. Disappointed, I ordered a Mini Combo plate with German sausage and brisket, and potato salad, red beans, and jalapeño cornbread on the side. The potato salad could have used more crunch for a texture change, but on the plus side it was full of flavor. There was an interesting degree of sweetness to it too. As for the beans, there were no visible spices, and there wasn’t much in terms of taste either. I could taste the jalapenos themselves in the cornbread, but I didn’t get any heat from them at all. The cornbread was decently moist and spongy, but kind of a let down overall. The sausage had a great snap to the casings, and I could definitely taste the pepper and other spices. I tried the sausage with both the regular and vinegar barbecue sauces they had available. I liked the taste of the vinegar sauce, but it was so runny that not much stayed put on my slice of sausage. The regular barbecue sauce was good too, but basically tasted like a slightly thicker version of the vinegar sauce. I wouldn’t really describe the brisket as sliced or chopped, but rather just large chunks. The brisket wasn’t inedible, although it was fairly lean and dry. Sauce was definitely needed with this offering, which certainly helped things, but a mediocre barbecue sauce can’t make up for dry meat. I had a hard time choosing between Sharon’s Barbeque and Joe Allen’s Pit Bar-B-Que, which both had top ratings for the area. At the last minute, I changed my mind and opted for Sharon’s. Some after-the-fact internet researching told me that Sharon is Joe Allen’s ex-wife. Apparently she didn’t get the barbecue recipe in the divorce.
