If you want a wonderful lunch experience stop in to see Sally. On my second visit, I enjoyed the fantastic chicken salad sandwich. My daughter picked the freshly grilled hamburger. We walked across the street and sat at a picnic table in the park right on the south fork of the Holston River. My friend Stuart enjoyed brown beans and cornbread. We rode in on horses. Cycling in on the Creeper Trail is also popular. If needed just come by car, but don’t miss this piece of Americana or the apple pie.

We stopped in as we were riding from Damascus to Abingdon on the Virginia Creeper Trail. Very cute little country store/bakery. We were not planning to eat but there baked goods looked so good. So my family picked out a few items and they were all so delicious. Make this a stop along your ride in the Creeper Trail. You will be glad you did.

Old Alvarado Station in Abingdon Va. We stayed there this past weekend in a Lil apartment above the store. It’s was a great experience and a lovely location right off the creeper trail and Horton River. I highly recommend it to anyone traveling in the area or looking to get away. The apartment was cozy, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed in it. Sally the owner was such an amazing and sweet person and gave us a free delicious country breakfast each morning. I her shop she has items made locally from jams, salsa, painting, walking sticks, and a few other things.
