This is the first time in a long time I went to the Hi Point so obviously I am not a regular. Three of us went for a few beers and dinner. There was a guy playing a guitar, it was 6 p.m. on a Wednesday. We ordered two plates of wings, the two guys had steak sandwiches with onion rings, I ordered a dinner of fried scallops with fries and cole slaw. The wings were great, just the right amount of heat, tender but cooked all the way to the bone and easy to eat. The guys both loved their steaks. The only dings I had with my meal is the scallops were overcooked to the point that the breading was so hard that it was like a shell, and split in two pieces when cutting and they were tough. They were dark brown and I should have sent them back, but I was talking when dropped off and didn’t see how dark they were until the server left. She didn’t come back until everyone was just about done. The fries were soft and undercooked, the cole slaw was tasteless. The only other thing I didn’t like, and a lot of servers do this, is grab the TOP of the drink glasses with their hands instead of the bottom so my lip surface has been touched by their fingers. Probably the most annoying issue was the guy playing guitar. He had an amp for his acoustical guitar and was way too loud for such a small restaurant. His appearance also was unappealing, wearing a visor and tank top with old cargo shorts, and had bare feet. He had a bucket in front of him, I suppose for tips. If I saw this guy sitting on the A.C. boardwalk with a bucket in front of him I would be unsurprised as he would fit right in, but eating my meal that was $ 98 and having to yell over him to hear my boys was inappropriate. To the owners, this guy sounded ok, but lose the unnecessary amp and have him clean up to a professional level, and I am sure more of your customers would appreciate it

Food is horrific. Service is terrible. This place should definitely have a Whites Only sign outside.

Excellent pub in Absecon. I stop in for the Hi-Point Special(cheesesteak with tomato and bacon) whenever I go to AC.

Seriuosly! Microwaved bread. Rubbery meatballs. Flat iron steak was sliced London broil with oily over cooked blue cheese(getting the picture yet). Romaine pieces on the chopped antipasto were impossible to chew had to cut 1 piece 3 times to get it bite size. The water was good. Lady at the bar throwing f– bombs so loud. No management to be scene.

I’ve been coming here for years. They have a good atmosphere and decent food. Prices are very good. They have a really nice appetizer menu that would meet anyone’s dietary restrictions. Menu is very vast. If you are a veggie lover like myself. ensure you ask for something to be made to suit your diet choice. If they have the ingredients, they will make it for you. They are very accommodating. Great staff, good service and good food.

Went for lunch because I heard the crab bisque is really good. Wasn’t disappointed. Nice bits of crab with a little spice made this one of my favorite soups in the area. Also got a beet salad which was really tasty. Bits of beets, goat cheese, and pistachios on greens. Service was really good. The waitress was fast and very friendly.

Great specials, friendly staff, 24 hours on the weekends! Whether you’re on your way to or from Atlantic City or the surrounding areas, Hi Point is the place to stop for reliably good food, brews, and entertainment! Thursday college night is the best party around!

NOTWHATITUSEDTOBE! Hi Point used to be our go-to place for take out at least once a week. Lately not as good. Ate in recently and had dinners. Just not good. New menus and apparently new chef and owner. If you are expecting same quality of food you were used to from before, you are going to be disappointed. Not to mention a lot more expensive. Lastly, if you think you can use a gift certificate from the previous owner, you would be sadly mistaken. Beware! They won’t accept them. You would think when you buy a business, you would want to keep LOCAL good will. Not this owner. He suggested we take our gift certificate back to previous owner and ask for our money back. That’s just not good business. We won’t be returning. It’s a shame. We miss the old Hi Point.

Great place! Staff is friendly, drinks are cheap and they have great specials! $ 0.75 tacos on Thursdays are delicious! Who can beat that?!

Most of these complaints sound like they were just rude people haha. The lady who ordered her food 3 hours before wanting it? Omg. The guy complaining that liquor sales and food sales are on two different checks? and omg poor him he has to stand his menu up. Hello! Most bar/restaurant combos are like that! Definitely not good reasons to give low stars. Anyway, this place is great. The wings have my heart&soul. Huge, meaty, not fatty, the sauce is thick & sweet & hot. The crab bisque is 100% on point, flavorful and meaty with the perfect kick. The waitstaff are all adorable and definitely not rude. It’s a laid back atmosphere where you can get a good buzz with new friends and great food. just chill out and you’ll have a great time.

The atmosphere is nice — like a local hangout. The menu is interesting and the food is good. The service SUCKS! The bartenders are too busy talking to each other to wait on customers. If you want to order food you have to stand your menu up and eventually someone appears to take your order. The food takes forever to get to you. Check was dropped off without a chance for us to order anything else. Oh yeah, if you start a tab and order food, the food order comes out on one slip for you to pay the server and the bar order is on another. Rediculous!!!

I was there on Thursday, July 23rd. I ordered food to go and paid for it at 11 am but let the waitress know that I wouldn’t be leaving until later so I asked her to not prepare the food until I was ready to leave. Three times she asked me if I was ready to leave(I felt pressured) and asked if I was ready for the food to be made. At 1:30 pm she told me that she was done at 2:00 so I told her it was OK to put the order in. I paid for fries but didn’t receive them. I called, spoke with(name withheld), and was told that an individual receipt cannot be created until the owner came in at night, then she hung up on me(she told me that she was really busy). I give it 2 stars because the bartender was awesome.

Stopped here on my way to a show in AC. Ordered the wings to split with my friend. They were huge and very tasty. They had several drink specials we enjoyed with our meal. The hi point special is recommended but I actually enjoyed the burger best. I actually meet the new owner and he was very friendly. I will definitely go back when I’m in the area.

By far the worst fish n chips I have ever ordered. Greasy, soggy and freezer burnt all for $ 13.95

Bar/Restaurant in Absecon, I didn’t realize until today how few restaurants are in Absecon. I went here with my mother for easter, she got the grilled salmon and crab bisque and she loved both, and noted how there was a lot of crab in the soup. I got the crab cake sandwich, with fries. My sandwich was pretty good, and the crab cake was a pretty good size. The fries were the only thing i didn’t like. They also have a lot of steak, and seafood options.

Bar atmosphere but good food. Spinach and crab dip is a must. Their sandwiches and wings are good. Would recommend.

The crab bisque is ridiculously good here. It is think and creamy and so flavorful. It has an awesomely savory and salty flavor that pairs perfectly with bread. I get a bowl of ot with a loaf of bread as my dinner since i haven’t really found anything else i liked there. The place is kind of a dive(and by kind of I mean definitely). Other food is mediocre bar food and there are many other bars that are much better in the area. Also, the service has never been satisfactory. I often felt ignored because the servers were to busy chatting in the doorway to the kitchen or to the regulars.
