I’ve been to Incollingo’s about 5 times since its recent opening in my neighborhood and I have been disappointed with each visit. For one, I’ve found their produce section to be small and very lacking — I went there one day to buy coconuts only to find they didn’t have any. Granted, they aren’t a super popular fruit, but for summer months I would expect any supermarket to carry them. Also discovered that their organic produce section is almost nonexistent with only a few organic Wild Harvest mixed greens/spinach boxes. I visited again in search of a meat thermometer… couldn’t find one, so I asked customer service if they carry them and they said no. Again, not an absolute necessity but something that should be carried nonetheless. After experiencing a bit of rudeness from a cashier today I decided that this will be my last visit.(Context: She told me to swipe my card and I informed her I already did, and she replied that yeah, I «didn’t want to wait for her to punch in debit» even though this usually comes up as an option on the keypad and I only swiped after she told me the total). I had high hopes for Incollingo’s, since it would save me a further trip to Shoprite and give me an opportunity to support a smaller local business. Overall decent prices, I’ll give it that, but sadly it doesn’t really provide a good enough alternative for me to continue shopping there.

Incollingo’s recently has opened up a new small but full service supermarket in the Smithville section of Galloway Township. This building previously was host to a Foodtown that was short lived in their efforts to stay in business. Although occupying the same space, Incollingo’s has cut the square footage in half, tightened up the inventory and got rid of the odd hardware/grocery store concept that Foodtown launched as their grand finale to closing the doors for good. The vibe seems more community oriented as the store is smaller and likely will be able to carve a niche out in this small community. There is potential that the area will benefit greatly from this market anchoring the shopping center that has been barely keeping a 50% tenant occupancy the last 5 years. The décor is kind of lackluster with lower end finishes, shelving and lighting. Prices are higher than a larger market but the sales I’ve seen are reason enough to pop in and shop around. There is a full service deli that has a regular offering of fresh made subs and hot food selections. This store is a valuable resource for the region and it’s needed in this part of the township. I look forward to seeing this place find it’s identity here and hope to see it transform into a nicer more refined version than it’s Egg Harbor City sister store. Time will tell but they are off to a good start… try it out and support the local micro economy here in Smithville.
