We were at the tail end of our weekend of wine tasting in wonderful Lodi CA. We met some great people, had some fantastic wine, had a picnic lunch and were looking forward to ending the day with more friendly encounters. Then we arrived at Fields and encountered«Sheldon»(we gave him that name!). I wonder if Fields owner/s are aware that the person representing them at their winery is a total turn off. Example: when I had my first taste of their Zin, I said“wow! That was bold!” I must have offended Sheldon because he came back right away with«BOLD??? I never heard that before! Are you sure???» It went downhill from there. We went through at least 6 varieties of their reds, but there was hardly any distinction among them. They all tasted the same. All the while Sheldon was being absolutely haughty. The 2 stars rating not because of Sheldon alone. The wine was just not to our liking and Sheldon just made the experience worse. We met so many nice people in Lodi and we plan to keep returning, but not to Fields.

Really great, small production wines… Rhone blends, big zins, and all around great value for the quality of wine.

This family winery is awesome was great! Their staff(Brian) was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about their wines. They were able to express their expertise to our seasoned as well as our first timer tasters. They offered great dinner recommendations for our group visiting from out of town. We’ll definitely be back and will recommend several other wine lovers from The Silicon Valley to visit or join Wine club. Thank you again Brian for you hospitality!

Finally made it down to the Lodi area to try the wineries and this was our first stop. Small bar for tasting in their warehouse/winemaking area so nothing fancy. Michael was friendly though and very knowledgeable about the wines. We liked most everything especially the Zinfandel and Syrah. Wine is also very reasonably priced. We joined the wine club and can’t wait to see what else they have to offer!

Stopped to taste their wines. The elderly man with the gray hair, who must be the manager, came running out to move his car because he told me he didn’t want to get a door ding. I had parked over 3 feet away from his car. He was rude. I will never go there again. The man was extremely rude. First impressions mean everything. We went across the street to Lodi Vintners. Great people and fantastic wine !!!

First stop ever at Lodi wineries and rates right up there with the many good wineries in Sonoma County. Michael, the man behind the tasting bar, was friendly and well-versed without being pretentious. We loved both Zins — the Century Block(more to my wife’s liking) and the Sherman Family vineyard(a little more spice). Both balanced and not the over-the-top fruit and alcohol bombs that ruin good Zinfandel. The rose was nice and dry and loved the fun Il Ladro red blend — a good wine plus fun story. Syrah was also good. The are gearing towards more Rhone blends for 2014 and beyond so can’t wait to go back and sample in a year or two.

This is another Lodi winery for wine geeks. The syrah and zins were especially nice. The syrah was not overripe with that white pepper you get in Paso Robles syrah. A nice meatiness to it. I also liked the Rhone blend.

Really delicious wines. We had a hard time picking which bottles to buy cause they were all so good and ended up joining the wine club. Beautiful grounds, too. Fruit flies were aggressive, as they have been at all the wineries during harvest, but they provided covers for the cups so you don’t have to drink them.

Very good red wines and enjoyed the flights. The tasting room here is more casual than downtown and I actually like the service more here.

This is a fun little boutique winery in Lodi area. They are located outside of Woodbridge on the way to Acampo. Many times the owner/winemaker will be there helping with the tastings. We really like the White Cuvee, Syrah and Merlot. I’m not normally a fan of Merlot, but he has really done something different with his. They also have a tasting room in downtown Lodi on School St. You can even buy a glass of wine there and just chill on there couches.

Went to the tasting room in downtown Lodi, took home a bottle of Merlot, White Cuvée(which was my favorite) and Syrah.
