Went here with the whole family for a double birthday dinner. The food and atmosphere is out of this world. Not something you’d think you’d find in the mountains of PA, more like a great place on a hill overlooking a big city. We shared the appetisers around the table, and the flaming cheese was very unique and tasty. Everything was fresh and great. The main courses were also amazingly fresh and superb! I had the trout, my wife had the flaming filet, and the rest of the fam had crab cakes, salmon and the shrimp/seafood platter. Everything was great! And the service was fantastic!!!

Polymath park features three houses as part of the tour. We had lunch at Tree Tops after the tour and enjoyed sharing appetizers and entrees among the trees.

Decent atmosphere inside but nothing special. We sat on the deck with a beautiful view of the Laurel Highlands. Much better. I’ll update my stars once we’ve eaten our food. We had it packed up because we waited for an hour to have it served. The humus appetizer was delicious though. For the price, I’d expect better service.

Wow. What a find. Can’t believe this GEM of a place has been around for years and I’m just now learning about it! It was the perfect location for the most perfect night. We chose to sit on the deck which made you feel like you were nestled in nature– it was beautiful. The food was fantastic. I had the filet and it was prepared perfectly– no steak knife needed :) make sure you save room for the Lemon cake… DELICIOUS. The service was wonderful. You can tell that it is a family owned and operated establishment. They go above and beyond to make your experience enjoyable. I highly recommend this place. You won’t be disappointed. I surely wasn’t :)

We were in town(Thursday, June 11th, 7:30 ish) on an overnight trip to Fallingwater and as soon as we found this place online we decided that we had to head on over for a meal. Though we made a reservation through Open Table, the restaurant had no record us; however, they were happy to seat us anyway. This place was very cozy, but we were the only patrons in the inside dining room. The outdoor dining space was full of people, but it was right around dusk we didn’t want to be bombarded bugs(no outside seemed to be complaining about this, but we’re bug-phobic city people!). We ended up at a table along the window. I did not care for the chairs(though my friends thought they were comfortable) and opted for the window seat. It was comfortable but pretty tall and my legs dangled quite a bit and I was ready to have my feet back on the floor by the end. There was only one server working all of tables, but she was very friendly and worked tirelessly to keep everyone happy! I was there with two friends. I got the crab cakes, one friend got the filet with Gorgonzola and the other friend got a shrimp and scallop dish. We all shared our plates with one another. Additionally, we had the charcuterie and the goat cheese crostini apps. Everything was good, but by and large our favorite was the Filet. It was fork tender, juicy and delicious. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Goat Cheese crostini. It was very simple, but insanely delicious. I wanted to like the balsamic reduction off the plate, and almost did(haha). We all really loved the risotto. It was questionable whether or not we would all have room for dessert; however we decided to get one piece of the lemon cake and did not regret it. The whole experience was a delight and the surroundings were gorgeous. If I am ever back in the area I will definitely make a return visit.

Amazing food, limited menu and great location. Is a small place cooking out of a house but large deck and nice indoor area as well.

We drove over here from our hotel in the dark, and in the dark it was a little bit difficult to figure out where the entrance was — not very well lit. But the building and walkway looked interesting. Once inside, everyone was very nice and friendly, and we enjoyed a couple of fall cocktails. I got a delicious steak with bourbon sauce. My husband got a fish that was served with a fruit chutney that turned out to be strawberries, and it was a little bit weird — not to our taste. The risotto that was served as a side to both of our entrees was not the best. The texture was not warm and creamy like it should have been. But we had a fine time, and I bet the outdoor space would be really nice in the daylight if that had been an option for us. Prices were reasonable. One other thing — if you are sensitive to the smell of stinky cheese like I am, beware: they are lighting it on fire to serve it and the smell really permeates the space! But I bet it tastes delicious.

TLDR: Phenomenal plates, excellent atmosphere, absolutely the place to come for a perfect meal. We are in town for a long weekend trip. Read about Tree Tops in the NYT36 hour trips book. We made reservations to be safe. Before the meal a nice bread loaf came for the table — delicious. Ordered the special appetizer, filet mignon stuffed peppers, excellent. We each ordered a different plate — filet mignon with bourbon sauce, filet mignon with shrimp and scallops, New York style filet with prosciutto and gorgonzola, and veggie pappardelle. Everyone agreed, the steak topped the charts for the best steaks we’ve had. Very welcoming and warm staff. Enjoy!

What a lovely evening. We stayed at FLW-designed Duncan House just down the road(you could walk it, but take a flashlight). Our server, Linda, was delightful. She made sure that all the dishes that we ordered met my dietary restrictions. The bread was fantastic, made better by the flower pot serving dish. Wine was very reasonably priced. The menu is large enough to accommodate a variety of tastes, but not so large that you are left wondering what the house specialties are. The view is wonderful, as one would expect. The seats are quite comfortable. Ambience is just fancy enough for a night out, but not stuffy. Highly recommended.

The food was very good and the ambience was excellent. My friends and I ate there on a Saturday night. The live musician, the outdoor tables, and the setting in the woods among the tree tops made for a very relaxed evening. Most of the clientele were well dressed but I saw some customers in shorts. At our table, some of the best dishes were the salads. I had an excellent caesar salad employing prosciutto(I think it was) in place of anchovies — a different preparation than typical, but very successful. The amuse bouche(a small bite of cheese and bacon on crunchy bread, with prune sauce) was superb, as was the bread that came shortly thereafter. For entrees, there were a number of beef options, but I wanted something else. Some of the alternatives were smoked salmon(I prefer my salmon grilled), and smoked chicken. I decided to try the latter, with smashed potatoes. It was ok, but nothing to rave about. The next time I go I think I’ll try their pasta. My friend’s seafood trio was 2⁄3 excellent: she loved the scallop and jumbo prawn, but not the tuna. It came with a very tasty mango salsa. My dessert, peach pie a la mode, was unexceptional. I have made better pie crusts myself. Dinner was about $ 50 per person, with tip. If you want to get away from the bad food that typifies Donegal, drive a few miles out of the way and try Tree Tops. I’d recommend an outdoor table on a Saturday, when they(currently, anyway) have live music. They also do Sunday lunches, so the next time I’m bicycling in the area, I might bike to Tree Tops(the owner Tom told us that bike clothes are OK). They want reservations, however.

Wonderful Service, Food and Wine. We are traveling through the area and decided to eat here after touring Polymath Park. We ate on the deck in a lovely wooded setting. We started off with the flaming greek cheese(back in Chicago we call it saginaki) fantastic accompanied with pita and perfectly grilled tomatoes and zuccini. My husband and I both had the filet oscar and our son had the surf and turf. All steaks were cooked to perfection, two medium rare and one rare. For dessert we shared a slice of lemon cake, light and tasty. Wonderful wine menu. Tree Tops is a hidden gem, take the time to find it!

Went here with my family twice. The food is excellent and the service is fantastic! Our steaks were perfectly cooked, and the appetizer was delicious. We were welcomed with a bruschetta, completely complimentary! I would strongly recommend it to anyone in the area!
