Before you can understand how happy I am here let me tell you about me…
I will never run a marathon or a half marathon. A year ago I weighed more than a lot of the players on the Patriots. I would watch the Biggest Loser and think «wow you weight 25lbs less than I do.»
My doctor scared me to death.
My daughter took it as her personal mission to get me in shape. I am not skinny but i no longer shop in the plus size section of the store. I have accomplished this by running 3 – 4 miles a night (living off veg and fruit helps too). My sneakers, which i bought a year ago at an outlet store just were not helping. I go home with blisters every night.
I went to a store very close to home to buy sneakers. I walked in and everyone just stared at me. I get it, i have a lot more body fat than anyone else in that store. No one even said «hi» I walked through the store, looked around, tripped over an employee and still not a word. I stood looking at sneakers and not a word. It was a pretty small store, no one missed me. I walked out and came to Unilocal for another store.
I drove a half hour to the next closest place that specialized as a store for runners. I didn’t want to buy from a mall store, i wanted a nice pair of running shoes from someone who would know what i needed. Sneakers are to expensive for trial and error.
I walked in and immediately was asked if I needed help. I told him i ran 3 – 4 miles a night and that my sneakers were causing blisters. His reply was «your in the right place.» I did all i could not to cry after the place I just left. He measured my feet, watched my walk, explained the socks and suggested a pair of sneakers. Honestly I would have bought anything he recommended at that point. The sneakers I put on were truly the most comfortable pair of footwear I have ever worn.
I don’t know if they cost any more or less than anywhere else, I know they had exactly what I needed with people who took the time to explain it all to a person who till this day had picked sneakers based on color. Most importantly they made me thankful I didn’t just go home and order a random pair online.
I will never go any place else again.

I visited Marx for a new pair of running shoes. I was extremely impressed with their knowledge and experience in regards to gait and stride. Based on their assessment via a short run on the treadmill, they can assess your gait and make a shoe recommendation. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and the shoes feel great!
This is a place for runners of all levels, don’t be intimidated by this being a specialty store. Going forward, I won’t buy my shoes anywhere else and I already recommended them to my friends and family for their next pair!

This is the place I come back time and time again for running shoes for my runner daughter. I found all the salespeople adept with all the particulars and peculiarities of feet, and my daughter’s feet has their own special needs. So short of going to a cobbler (haha), we come here. They spend lots of individual attention on my daughter’s needs, and will take out different shoes for her to try on until she finds the pair with the best fit. We have also gone to other specialty running stores, but we eventually just come back here every 6 months or so when her shoes are worn down. We pay for excellent service for special running requirements. We are very happy with them.

Needed a new pair of my Asics, and had heard some bad reviews of the latest versions. Swung my Marx for some expert advice and the chance to try out some other shoes if needed. The employees were all great, answering all the questions I had.
They checked out my old shoes for my stride and didn’t push any shoes in particular. Tested another model and wasn’t very happy, so I ended up with the latest version of my regular runners, and left very pleased.
Prices are not much higher than buying from say, Amazon or Zappos, and you can sign up for a 10% discount on every future purchase — pretty slick.
Plenty of shoes to pick from on-​site gait analysis, and all kinds of other running gear can be had here. Full service running store for the burbs!
