We have given this place 4 tries. Each time the service had been less than acceptable. Tonight was no exception. The service was slow and items were left off our entrees and brought to the table 10 minutes later. No apologies or relief.

Food and service were adequate. $ 8.99 for 2 eggs sausage toast and grits $ 2.59 for Coffee. They ran out of half and half in single serve cups and brought cream is m a plastic to go sauce cup. On par with IHOP, Waffle House in terms of food. Menu is minimalistic with just a basic choice options for breakfast. Obvious that their focus is not on breakfast and would recommended they expand their menu to give more options. Doubt I will ever return as I was not impressed and there are many other options for food in the area.

Gabriel’s at the Old Mill NOTE: the building is nice and the atmosphere is too. This restaurant was delicious in the past year on 3 occasions and they always had extra items not just what was on the menu. On Saturday, 10-24-2015 I took the family for an early dinner to Gabriel’s at the Old Mill as we would beat the dinner crowd plus we were going to walk Acworth’s Main St and enjoy the cars on display for the Acworth Annual Car Show. The restaurant was slow, and that was fine so we expected GREAT service and GREAT food. We got neither. 1. We were given an «L» booth to sit in with a giant support beam in the dead center of the table. To say this was odd was an understatement. 2. The waitress Michelle was a sweetheart but new, and also had a party of 8+ she was serving. She was swamped, and this became an issue. She didn’t even have the time to get us, or process our check. Sorry Michelle, but true. 3. The food was something, and that something was far from great. I ordered the only steak on the menu, their ribeye, and it was pathetic. it’s wasn’t even ½″ thick and was comprised of more course-grizzle than beef. I should have sent it back — it was ridiculous. The«cook» who prepared it wouldn’t have eaten it. 4. Then green bean casserole tasted like canned green beans; just awful. 5. The slider trio was OK. Tasted like Chili’s or any other chain restaurant. I have to state, this place has gone seriously downhill and can no longer recommend it. 2 thumbs down. We’re done.

Enjoyed past visits but tonight’s meal was well below average. The country fried steak had no flavor. The sides weren’t the best and we only ate half of them. I am really hoping they get back on their game.

Last night was our 2nd visit here and again we throughly enjoyed every aspect of it. The food and service was phenomenal! We ordered the collard green dip for an appetizer, and it was DELICIOUS! Out 1st visit we had ordered the hush puppies and they were good, but that collard green dip blew them out of this world; it’s definitely a must! We ordered the sliders to share(beef and chicken) with a side of sweet potatoe fries. Yummy! The last visit I had tried all 3 sliders and wasn’t a huge fan of the salmon and hubby had country friend steak which was delicious. We decided to share the sliders and again they were delicious. Also, I need to add that the bartenders are so nice and friendly; we love sitting at the bar most everywhere we go and this bar staff was fun and the martinis were delicious as well. Hubby was plesently surprised to see they had cinnamon rolls… so of purse that was his dessert and mine was the lemon merengue pie martini. Can’t wait to go back!!!

We had 8 ppl(6 adults, 2 kids) in our group. The server was very nice and made zero mistakes. He kept all of our drinks full. We all ordered something different because we knew we were all going to eat off each other’s plates. For our appitizer we ordered the signature collard green dip with fresh pita. It was very good. Then we ordered Salmon patties, shrimp and grits, a burger with fries, chicken tenders, a veggie platter, and a couple of salads. The grits were a bit bland but the toppings were awesome. The salmon patties were delish. Veggies we ordered were the green beans, mac and chz, and fried okra. All veggies were good. The desserts were the best part. We order the strawberry cake, pecan pie, banana pudding, strawberry cake pop, some kind of cookie pie, and chocolate pie. The only one in personally wasn’t fond of was the chocolate pie, but I was the only one that didn’t like it. My fav was the banana pudding. It was very sweet. Second place went to the strawberry cake. Overall it was an awesome experience and I will be going back.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. It was definitely worth the half hour drive for the experience. The interior is wonderful and the story behind the old mill is great. The first thing on the menu is collar greens dip… it doesn’t matter if you don’t like collars, order this anyway because it’s great. Add up the great food, the friendly service and the terrific atmosphere and this place equals a real winner. We can’t wait to go back and take friends with us.

This place has a wonderful ambiance and a great bar staff. My fiancé ordered the country fried steak(highly recommended) and I just got the four veggie plate. The food was delicious. Overall great experience and we will return next time we’re up this way.

If you’re here at the Old Mill, I don’t have to mention the ambiance… but I will — AMAZING! The servers are attentive, quick and make sure you feel you’re at a special place. We had a large group and everyone loved their food(and that doesn’t happen). The Southern fare is well done without unnecessary complication. The Collard Green dip is a must have starter. The Salmon Cakes were delectable and meaty, but left me wanting more of them. After having tried the Sirloin, I quickly fell into order envy. They may specialize in Southern Gourmet Fare, but they could easily double as a tremendous steakhouse. The owner visited us and was a delight. Our experience was complete and we didn’t even touch the mind altering desserts…

I’ll be blunt: Based on today’s lunch, I can take or leave Gabriel’s. I ordered a grilled chicken slider and a small«blue and green» salad. The slider was pathetic: an overcooked, under-seasoned segment of chicken breast, topped only by a stingy slice of pickle. The salad — field greens, fruit, blue cheese, nuts — redeemed the meal. Their homemade ranch dressing is good. Sandwiches looked mediocre, though the«housechips» — homemade potato chips — were well received by my friends.(I was there with book club.) If I ever return I’ll choose a salad topped with salmon. To the restaurant’s credit, they offer a few different salads, both large and small. As evidenced by the name, Gabriel’s is located in an old mill, which is definitely a cool building, but with horrible acoustics. It was too noisy, and difficult to chat. Taking all into account, Gabriel’s ranks three stars. Maybe 2.75.

Not nearly as good as the Marietta location. It’s the Bridgetown Grill effect her folks. Small location in Marietta branches out to mega sized restaurant and the whole thing goes south. Buttermilk fried chicken was soggy. Vegetables came out later. Waiter never came back. Prices higher for the same food and the same quantities as opposed to the Marietta location. So all in all about 30% higher, worse service, food not as good. Love Gabriel’s but the Acworth posh locale doesn’t get it. Plus a patron making farting noises that in turn made his child scream at the top of his lungs.

Loved dinner tonight! Great evening on the screened patio. Enjoyed my chicken breast with delicious collards and fried okra. I recommend this location for its relaxed and historical setting.

Decided to give Gabriel’s a try for lunch. Overall, the meal was good. Had buttermilk fried chicken mashed potatoes and creamed corn and a biscuit. Nice boneless chicken breast. Side portions were a bit small. It was not very busy yet I had to ask for a drink refill. Going to give them try for breakfast soon. I always require more than one visit to a Restuarant unless they just fail miserably on my first trip. Will definitely give this place another chance. I’ve eaten at every restaurant that has been in this location. The atmosphere in this old Mill is amazing.

I was very pleased with our recent visit. One of our meals was under-cooked but the staff and chef were very responsive and quickly replaced the entire meal. They also gave that person a free dessert. The prices are very fair and a lot better than the previous establishment that was here before.

I love this place ! A few of my friends an I decided to go this past weekend. It’s very hard to get a table if you don’t have a reservation on the weekends. One of my other friends had gone before and warned me. We called ahead a got a 7:30 pm reservation on a Friday night. Seating is very limited so I felt very lucky that we got right in. I heard of you didn’t have a reservation the wait was up to 1.5 hours. Anyway everything ran so smoothly service was wonderful! Our waitress was so sweet and was on top of all our needs. I really have to give her major brownie points because she knew all the ends and outs of all the dishes. She also was on top of having everything refilled and kept clean on our table. Management also came around and had conversations with every table which was very cool to see and made me feel very welcomed! Now to the food, Amazing :)! When my friends and I all go out we order our own plates but we all share. We had no complaints about any of our food. Our plates ranged from Salmon cakes, steaks, a burger, chicken, and seafood. All of the plates were beautifully arranged and left me wanting more :) Overall our night was a great success and I would definitely go back! The reason I have to give The Old Mill 4 stars is simply how difficult it is to get in. I can see that being a real problem for fans! Other than that I will keep going back probably during the week when it’s not slammed packed !

We’ve tried 4 times. I’ll admit I have high standards when it comes to going out to eat. I expect my food to arrive still hot, my drinks to be refilled and my check to be brought when I’m finished eating. 1st time was dinner, the service was ok for a nearly empty restaurant, but the food was just decent. The 2nd time for breakfast — horrible service, the waitress seemed inexperienced and confused. The 3rd time was fantastic — the service was great, food was hot, my bacon was missing but she got it immediately for me. This 4th time my food came out cold, my guests pancakes were burnt, I had to get my own sugar, my own refill and my guest had to make due with his watered down soda because she was not even coming to this side of the room. Overall I feel awful posting a negative review on this woman’s life line, but they need an overhaul of the waitstaff if the restaurant is going to succeed in this location. It will take awhile for me to go back to this location — I’ll have to make the drive to Marietta to experience her tasty treats!

I wanted to like this place more than I did. We are big fans of Gabriel’s on Whitlock in Marietta so, we were excited to try the new restaurant. We arrived at 5 pm on a Saturday with a party of four and were immediately asked in a stern expressionless tone by the hostess«do you have a reservation»? I indicated that we did not. She said again in a stern tone…“well it’s probably going to be 20 to 30 minutes”. That seemed odd as there were not a lot of cars in the lot and there was no one else in the lobby waiting. However, I said that was fine. So, I had a fair amount of time to observe the hostess staff. There were three around most of the time and they all seemed to make it far more complicated than they did. It would take a consensus of all three before they seemed to ever make the most basic of decisions. There was a party of 8 that was called for and only 2 were there but, they sat them anyway. That was literally the only table sat the entire time we were waiting. There were several other folks that came in after us and were always asked about a reservation in the same tone and the answer was the same by every single customer…“no” and just before we got seated, I noticed the quoted wait time was 35 to 45 minutes. I wondered to myself«where were all these people causing the wait time to increase? I concluded that maybe they had a mad rush just before our arrival and that all the tables had just been sat nearly simultaneously and that it was going to be a long time before the tables turned. However, after only waiting about 15 minutes and after much debate between the three hostesses deciding where to put out party of 4, we were called to be seated. As we walked through I noticed two distinct things 1) the atmosphere was nice and had an old mill feel 2) the restaurant was only half full at best. Pretty shocking considering the wait times being quoted and our wait as well. I will simply say that whole process needs to be tightened up whether it be training the hostesses they are not performing brain surgery, simply seating customers or better scheduling the arrival of staff. As far as the rest of the experience, it was good overall. Our waiter was Robert and he was very nice and personable however, there is a fine line between ample talk and too much and he was visible and conversational a little more than we needed him to be. He also used the phrase«I got choo» at least 40 times whether we were ordering drinks, food or an extra napkin. It was honestly getting on all of our nerves. He just needs to expand his«catch phrase» vocabulary a little more. We ordered the collard green dip and it was tasty but barely warm. The fried pita chips were good. Here’s a summary of what was ordered and the feedback on each: Cedar plank salmon was cooked perfect and excellent tasting, the meatloaf was above average and ample portioned, the shrimp and grits were average and best and the shrimp were bland. The sides were pretty good but, none were served hot. The squash casserole was okay but the squash was still very crunchy. We ordered dessert and the peach cobbler was good but short on peaches and the red velvet was great and consistent with what we’ve always gotten at the Marietta location. Perhaps they are still getting the bugs worked out as they’ve only been open a couple of months now I think. We will try it again down the road and will hope for a better service system and food quality experience and one that we’ve always experienced at Gabriel’s in Marietta. One disappointment was although very early in the dinner hour, they were already out of Banana Pudding. Considering this is a restaurant that prides itself on its homemade desserts and Gabriel’s Desserts is the crown jewel and their very reason for being able to have this location… I’m not sure how they ran out.

What a special treat! Gabriel’s made our wedding cake which was the hit of the wedding. Charlie arranged for us to have lunch and strawberry cake on Valentines day for our one year anniversary! The staff was super professional and friendly. The food was some of the best we have had and the atmosphere is so neat in the old mill building. Even though they have not been open long… they have their act together and I predict will be a very popular spot in Acworth! We will certainly be back for the grilled pimento cheese sandwich and tomato basil soup!
