The food is good but not great. The sushi selections are better than most. The service can be better and the cleanliness of the restaurant needs to be addressed.

We came here for my husband’s birthday. It happened to fall on a Tuesday so the hibachi was half price. It was a great experience for the incredible price. My kids sat with us and were mesmerized by the«volcano» the guy built from onions. They also let me bring in a cake and brought it out and sang to him. The 50% off Tuesday was a great deal and my husband has already asked to come back to eat the dragon roll sushi. He says it was the best thing he ever tasted. We will definitely be back.

I came here with my children on Monday, their half off sushi rolls. It was phenomenal and a great deal! This is such a friendly, fun, family oriented environment. The servers are so friendly and attentive to your needs. I would highly recommend this resturaunt and will deffinetly be coming here again.

The service was good the atmosphere was nice, the California roll was mediocre. My wife and i went there for shrimp and steak at the hibachi. The salad dressing tasted like thousand island dressing with a hint of ginger, the soup tasted like a packet Ramen noodles mix. 5oz New York strip steak was the cheapest cut of meat i have had in a long time. It was tough and and serve to me with large pieces of fat left on it. The shrimp, vegetables and fried rice were ok. There are so many better Japanese restaurants around, so my wife and i both agreed we wont be going back.

My family and friends have been loyal to Volcano since their initial opening. Yes the prices are greater than other similar restaurants in the area but the initial quality commanded the higher prices. We have visited at least 1 time per week for the last year and tonight was a shocker. The filet was tough and lacked taste. The shrimp was small and tasted fishy. The restaurant was near empty at 7pm. This should have been a sign. Our waiter said things have been going down hill and he is quitting. I think we will quit this place too.

Really love great Sushi and Hibachi(lived on the West coast for a few years and got spoiled). However, the sushi here is mediocre, small servings and VERY expensive. The service was really lacking too. We had to flag down a waiter to order more drinks and it took a really long time to receive our drink orders.

After wanting to go to a negative numbering scheme specifically for this establishment, Unilocal now needs something more — perhaps a «Restaurant Most Deserving to Close» award. After having my request to send back a highly unsatisfactory entrée refused in the previous review, I looked at the original check again. It turns out that while they reduced the price of their sushi rolls 50% on Mondays, they kept the sales tax at the original rate. So, I was assessed 12% sales tax — see the uploaded photo. I thought OK, it is an honest mistake. In spite of my previous bad experience, I will just go up there and work out the situation. Unfortunately, the same manager who wouldn’t take the entrée back was there again. When I explained the situation, she said that was how it is set up in their system. I said that isn’t how the tax system works — a business cannot cannot decide at what price of goods to collect the tax, it has to be on the price at which the goods were sold. She continued to explain and argue. It is truly hard to believe that the manager of a business would argue with a customer when blatantly caught cheating that customer, whether by design or inadvertently. I eventually got the incorrect amount refunded. I’m here to warn the their customers to this abuse. I’ve got a couple more checks to review from the last 60 days. Certainly, I won’t go back in to get those refunds. I’ll just deny the entire amount with the credit card company and let them argue with these people. And now, strike three. The restaurant owner apparently believes that it is OK to falsely advertise special items. The item in question is the currently running Tuesday 50% off«hibachi»(really teppanyaki) dinner. The very fine print says that it excludes the shrimp appetizer. It isn’t really 50% off, is it? I bet that if tried to pay a check $ 4 short with a note that said — value of missing shrimp appetizer deducted, they would call the police. Seriously, can Volcano’s owners and management think of any other ways to cheat their customers? I bet they can, but I won’t be the sucker any more. Strike three and you’re out.

We go here for their Tuesday hibachi specials! I’m not a big fan of their fried rice and normally do the noodles. Their sushi are good as well. But I still am in love with blufin in rome!

Some think Hibachi is the same everywhere, but Volcano truly brings a fresh approach. The chefs are all amazing and engaging. Our last visit I couldn’t stop laughing! The food is amazing, of course. I’m not a sushi fan, but they have an extensive sushi menu and I understand theirs is outstanding. But the best part is the atmosphere and the awesomely energetic chefs. Too many other hibachi restaurants in the area have become complacent and seem to just go through the motions. The chefs at Volcano make you want to come back every week! Dinner and a party? Yes, please!

I would say the sushi is the way to go here. The hibachi isn’t that special but the sushi is. Definitely would recommend. Met my sister for her bday lunch or I probably wouldn’t have tried. Good stuff.

Having eaten here several times before, i have been severely disappointed each time. The food for the price was mediocre at best, and the service was just GODAWFUL. The chefs were not good or great just noisy and near impossible to hold a conversation over. And when it came time for the bill, it took them SEVEN tries before it was correct. Last time I am going to dine there, they have lost a customer.

Marginal hibachi. The fried rice was very bland as was the filet. Sushi wasn’t half bad but was overshadowed by the dissapointing hibachi. Service was great but prolly won’t be back

Went for 50% off Hibachi Tuesday… can’t beat half-priced meals. Tucked inside a Kroger strip mall, Volcano was packed when we pulled up, likely due to the special pricing. We ended up waiting about 15 mins to be seated at a grill. Service was a mixed bag… we waited quite a while for drinks to come out and for our orders to be taken. Our cook was awesome, full of energy, and very funny. We had a birthday in our party and they do a very nice birthday celebration with different lighting, instruments, and a nice cake. Food wasn’t anything to write home about but, at 50% off, I wasn’t exactly disappointed. We started with a couple of sushi rolls that I found to be very mediocre, at best. The soup was lukewarm chicken broth and the salad was so wet that all of the ginger dressing dropped to the bottom of the bowl and mixed with the water to make a soupy mess. The meats and seafood were all good, veggies were tasty, fried rice was good. I’d return for another 50% off night but not sure I would at full price. I guess it all depends on your expectations going in whether you’ll enjoy Volcano or not… if you eat sushi or hibachi fairly regularly, you’ll likely be underwhelmed but, if these are items you rarely go out for, you’ll likely leave as a happy customer.

Great sushi and great prices at lunch! Half price day is awesome when your kids can eat three rolls each! Service was very good as well. We will go again.

Always great food and service! Hibachi is not my favorite to eat, so I get the sushi rolls. Kids love the hibachi entertainment and food!

My boyfriend and I came here late on a Friday night. It wasn’t too crowded and we were seated immediately. I ordered the sashimi dinner and he ordered the sashimi/sushi combo. The presentation of both our dishes was amazing! It was so pretty I almost didn’t want to eat it. The service was good and the sushi quality was better than some high-end sushi restaurants I’ve been to ITP. We will definitely be back!

I wish Unilocal would let you do a ½ star because I think for sushi this place is a 3.5 start. Clean, nice service, adequate potion sizes, prices ok… I just love really really great sushi and this falls into the average/what you’d expect. That being said I was ok with my lunch:) If you need a place to come for a quick lunch and feel like sushi come on! If you want amazing sushi your going to nuts for, this is not the place:)

I went looking for take-out on a Saturday night because Takashi Grill closed down(sad face). Volcano Steak and Sushi is located in the Kroger plaza so there’s plenty of free parking. I immediately I smelled smoke from the grill and heard catcalls as the chefs were dicing meat and seafood and flipping it into the air. It’s pretty much Hibachi or sushi only on the menu. I really wanted stir fried chicken, rice and veggies but they don’t sell it. So the sweet server offered for to add veggies to my chicken fried rice for an extra $ 1. Even though the restaurant was busy, my to-go order didn’t take long. Volcano has a 100 health score and a few flat screened TV’s tuned to sports. But don’t let the bright lighting fool you, this is definitely a date night place. ‘Sexual Healing’ played in the background as I looked uncomfortably at the few families and small kids who were present. The deejay must have sensed my anxiety because he soon played ‘Fever’ and then Justin T.‘s ‘Rock Your Body.’ I checked out the restroom which was clean but not odor free. I wanted to yell out ‘courtesy flush’ to the girl in the next stall. But on to the food… It’s really good! For around $ 12 I got chicken fried rice(they don’t have brown rice), with veggies such as zucchini, squash, carrots & mushrooms. It wasn’t enough to feed four people like the server suggested but it was a nice sized portion and pretty darned delicious. I’ll definitely visit again. I recommend dining in so you can watch the show.

This is ITP goodness for us OTP’ers. The atmosphere, sushi and hibachi are first class. Great attention to detail, engaging people and solid food quality. Freshness and fun are on the menu here. I’ve had their Angry Dragon roll and it’s spectacular! If you’re in West Cobb, treat yourself without driving all night.
