Had dinner there last night, awesome, never disappoints! I had the special, I am going to butcher the spelling, beef bullonnaise, very good. My husband had fish and chips. Light, not greasy, chip seasoned just right.

De-freakin’-licious. I’m an Austrian Jew, so I guess this place is right up my alley. Unsurprisingly, the menu isn’t much different than your average German restaurant, or Hungarian restaurant, nevertheless, the execution is excellent. Amazing to find it in this part of the world, no less. I loved everything we had. My spätzle with caramelized onions and emmentaler cheese, absolutely wonderful. So rich, I took half of it in a doggie bag. My wife’s goulash was excellent, the pretzel appetizer with ham and cheese dip is all home made… mmm! Only slight downside was the bottle of wine we had, but, that’s not the restaurant’s fault entirely. Dessert: A caramel pecan cheesecake. Yes to all three. It was our first anniversary meal! It was certainly special.

The wings were to die for. Good, Friendly service. Waitress was on point. We sat outside on one of the nicest nights of the year. I ordered the goulash. I have never had this kind before and not sure I will again. Sauce was good but dumplings where doughy. My partner had wiener schnitzle. was ok at best.

Finding the Haflinger House was absolutely the best part of our recent trip out to Western, MA. To say we were shocked to find AUTHENTIC German/Austrian food out there is an understatement. The food was unbelievable and was spot on in terms of taste, smell and looks for the food I had in Munich and its surrounding areas. We started with the Bavarian platter which contained AMAZING sausage and sauerkraut. My wife had a delicious Lobster Spaetzle and I had a perfect Weiner Schnitzel with Jaeger sauce. If you are in the area I find it hard to believe there is a better choice for dinner.

As former Red Sauce regulars who always ordered filet mignon and calamari, we have been looking for a new local place with quality food. We tried Haflinger tonight and were very happy with the food and the service. We did not try the filet mignon or the calamari because there were so many new and different things to choose from but we are looking forward to going back. The cordon bleu was very good as was the pork schnitzel. We will return!

At first I was a little put off because when we came there was barely anyone in the restaurant, but the hostess said if we didn’t have a reservation she only had room in the bar. But we soon found out why, by the time we left, the place was full. We loved sitting at the bar though, we had a great bartender who made fantastic drinks just to our liking, we had a wonderful lady singer, near us at the end of the bar, who really sang well and I’m sure we got our food faster than the tables did, or so it seemed! We also met a couple next to us who lived in town and was extremely friendly and told us about a local race on Greylock mountain that we should visit. Everything was awesome! I got the haus made crêpe(usually an appetizer but we were staying in a local B&B so I couldn’t take home leftovers) — Yum! My husband got the wiener jaeger, which he was talking on about the next day! The black forest had no Kirsch as I was hoping for, but was still good! My husband got the apple strudel which he really enjoyed!

Had dinner here last weekend and our food was outstanding. Service was good, and everything came in a timely manner. We both finished our generous portions of food, I would have licked the plate. It was that good!

The authentic food here is very good. The specials are always interesting and well made. I have only eaten in the bar area, which is easy and laid back. The apps are all freshly prepared and they have a decent wine and beer list. This is a nice little winter spot to warm up and eat good Austrian food!

My husband and I came here tonight because we both love German/Austrian cuisine. This restaurant is a bed-and-breakfast. So right off there was an intimate feeling. It is located in a wood-framed house. When you walk in you can see a beautiful small grand piano and a bar area. We were led to a dining room which could probably house 30 people. For appetizers we had the potato pancakes which came sizzling hot with apple sauce. For entrees ordered the Jäger Schnitzel and the Ungarisches Gulasch. Both came with a house salad. For dessert we had the velvet cake. Everything was delicious. Our server, Ann, was helpful and kindly accept that we had a 10% off coupon. So with tips it came to around $ 55. Not bad for a special night out! Tips: make sure you call ahead to make reservation! :)

Are you kidding me? How are you people writing these glowing reviews? This was, by far, the worst meal I have ever had. Goulash Crepes sounded great, imagining hunks of Paprika scented meat in a fluffy, soft crêpe. What I got, ice cold, dog food in a blackened, crispy mess. Potato pancakes that were leftovers from Pompeii. When we got the bill, we were expected to pay for our cremated dishes. When I pointed out that we were being asked to pay for inedible food, we were told that we had eaten some of it so were required to pay. Several phone calls to an absent manager, and we were off the hook. The waitress then tossed the check at us. Disgusting food and combative service does not lead to glowing reviews. Beer was good though.

I would consider this a good place, food was good and more upscale. A little odd for me since it used to be a rest home my mom worked at and I spent a lot of time there as a child. Getting that thought out if my mind was not easy but all and the food was worth going again.

I went here for mother’s day with my parents and grandmother. The haus had hired a wonderful violinist duo to walk around, really completing an already great vibe. Despite having a specialty menu for the day(the stuffed shrimp was superb) I am comfortable that the every day fare will not disappoint. Even the sides stand out in my mind — carrots and kale topped with a large fresh asparagus lightly drizzled with a Bearnaise sauce, creamy mashed potatoes– as being made with care and fresh ingredients. The vibe is that of half way between a small restaurant and a bed and breakfast. It is quaint, but not too small, cozy but a bit noisy. The staff waits on you in a manner that crosses the border from attentive to matronly. I never felt rushed. They really have succeeded in creating a setting that is as comfortable for a romantic date as it is for a family gathering. So, Haflinger is good for any occasion, but most importantly, I’d go back for the seafood chowder.
