We visited the area for our anniversary and had passed by this place and decided to give it a try, based on several good reviews. Like several other reviewers have commented, the food was nothing exceptional. Hits the spot but nothing that you would rave about.

Another one of those ‘Turn now, honeykins’. It’s always packed and today, we are blessed to finally be able to satisfy our curiousity. And from the Chocolate Milk Shake addict… ‘The Best Chocolate Milk Shake within 30 minutes from our home.‘ They make their own ice cream! And for me… The best sugar-free Butter-Pecan. With hubbykins’ love for ice cream, I have to occasionally get SF. They have burgers and other food, which we will have to try before September 13(when they close for the season). And it smells so delicious inside. There are wooden tables with benches outside where you can sit and savor your oncoming sugar high. There is a stream at the back, a couple of ducks, cheerfully chirping birds, butterflies.

Every time we are in the area we eat here. Nice little drive in with picnic tables outside to eat at. Best homemade ice cream ever!!!

Not sure on the hype of this place. I’ll start off with the Icecream is good. The fries are ok nothing out of this world. But to read the reviews of «best burgers around» these people must have never left this little town. The burgers are small over cooked rubbery hockey puck like burgers. Would not recommend. Stop for Icecream pass on food.

Great homemade ice cream. Burgers and fries, steak sandwiches and hot dogs are as expected for this type of place, nothing stellar but nonetheless solid. Great atmosphere, great place to take the family. 5 stars.

Best place for stop by to take an easy delicious meal. Burger and Hot dog are good also the fries are perfect. Do not forget to keep a space for home made ice cream that you will not forgotten. They have outside seat that’s the reason why they open only in the spring and summer. The seats are so closely to the nature as seen in the picture. If you pass by this place are worth to be.

The best homemade ice cream for miles. It has a down home feel that cannot be recreated. We wait all winter for them to open. Its lovely to sit outside enjoying ice cream and feeding the ducks by the stream out back. We even get a scoop of vanilla for our pooch!

Tried Boehringers for the first time and LOVED it! We only went for the ice team but the food smelled delicious. I would venture to say it is the best ice cream I have ever had. And it is cheap! I got the lemon icecream– it was the perfect blend of tangy lemon and sweetness. My husband got the peanut butter which was also amazing. We will go back to try the food. Cash only!

It ‘s so nice when a town has a traditional burger joint that’s been around for years. Just walking in reminded me of dear places from my childhood. The flavors are satisfying and familiar even if they aren’t exactly what I grew up with. It was a beautiful day and eating under the trees at picnic tables was supremely comfortable. The ducks were friendly and appreciated our leftovers. Excellent food, excellent service, and an ambience– well… If you squint you can pretty easily imagine the clientele in their original poodle skirts and letter sweaters.

I love this place. Old school classic that doesn’t need to be changed in the next 50 years. Keep up the great ice cream at great prices. Where else can a family of six get out with everyone loving the ice cream and under $ 20? So glad I Unilocaled this placed when we first moved here a year ago!

If you live nearby, and you’re not going to Boehringer’s for ice cream, you’re doing it all wrong. Simple, cheap food. The ice cream is unreal. Quit throwing your money away going to Baskin Robbins down the road. You’ll thank yourself later for dropping your dime here. Kids love the nearby creek that sits below the picnic tables. Be sure to be nice to the resident ducks!

The food’s cheap, the staff is mostly high-school kids… avoid the hockey-puck frozen hamburgers and you should be just fine. The fries and ice cream are noteworthy but make sure they repeat your order back to you — when the place is busy, mistakes are common!

This place is classic Americana, with an old school vibe. Excellent chicken cheesesteaks and home made ice cream. It’s pretty rare to find a place you can have both hot and cold oral pleasures at the same time… again, talking food here kids.

Cherry vs lemon. That’s the running flavor battle I have with a friend. While I refuse to admit it to him, the cherry is outstanding but the lemon … the lemon is why I weigh 12 lbs more now than I did a year ago. The saving grace is that they close for the winter. I haven’t zeroed in on the exact dates but it’s roughly late October thru March. The french vanilla is also very good with a creaminess that is just short of buttery. The only clunker I’ve tried is the chocolate chip which is so heavily flecked with coffee ground-sized chocobits that give it has a grainy texture.

Its a classic with a simple menu that is done right. Picnic seating by the creek with a good burger and dog.

Situated along the creek my grandmother used to swim in as a child, Boehringer’s has always been a family favorite. On any trip back to PA, we always stop here multiple times for their fantastic cheesesteaks and ice cream. My son sawand caught his first lightning bug here. Bought I just wish I lived closer.

I have been coming to Boehringer’s my whole life, since it is conveniently located between my parent’s house and my grandparent’s house. Only open in the spring and summer months, Boehringer’s is an eagerly anticipated treat. They have great fries and other tasty hot food, but the real magic is in the homemade ice cream. The lines here can be long, but since it has an out-of-the-way location and a shady spot to eat your yummy food, you won’t mind.

If I had to complain about Boehringers… it would be it is too far away from my house! Living in South Carolina(9 hours away) is the only problem that comes to mind everytime I think about this little gem. Growing up we would eat here every chance we get and every time we are in the area this place is at the top of the list of places to visit. My personal favorite is the barbeque sandwich and a butter brickle ice cream. Boehringers will close down during the colder months, but this is a MUSTSTOP for anyone craving good food, at a great price, at a neat location!

What more can I add to the previous reviews? Not much. This is a great drive-in along the creek in Adamstown featuring typical drive in meals and outstanding ice cream. The ordering process can be a bit confusing. If you stand there long enough, you’ll hear, «Are you waited on?» about a dozen times, as there are no distinct ordering and waiting areas. Everybody comprises a conglomerate of people, each left to find out who has ordered and who is next. There are many workers behind the counter, each scurrying around to take individual customer orders and avoid bumping into one another.
