Have heard about their grinders and been wanting to try but would always come when they are closed. Grinders are big and taste good but the bread is a little too thick for my liking. The soppersosda is great, home made, hot capicola is good and they had great prices on bacon. All the staff was nice and pleasant and I had zero wait time.

This spot for a deal of time I didn’t even know existed & mostly the one I knew of was Frigo’s in Springfield, MA but as of this review I’m now corrected They got a variety of sandwiches whether be cold or hot ones & the bread is fresh & there’s plenty of variety no matter what you’re looking for in terms of coffee, pickled-jarred foods, meats by the pound etc… Note they don’t accept debit or credit cards but worth every penny you spend there.

Every town should have one of these. They are the BEST for grinders, pizza dough, delicious sides, sauces, and pretty much anything you could want from your dream deli. We LOVE you Pajers!

i LOVE most things at Pajers! I love looking at the random canned and bottled goods as well as the awesome CHEAP things in the freezer section. My husband and I love to come here on the weekend(when we have cash!!!) and get grinders or some antipasta to go. We have also purchased the ground beef from here which was super cheap compared to local supermarkets! I can’t really say if the staff was overly friendly or not, but the price would be more important to me than that. It is pretty annoying that they don’t take credit or debit, but it’s a hole in the wall shop with amazing food– I’ll stop at the ATM on my way! The location in Agawam is pretty convenient for me, but the intersection is super annoying and you just have to pray when you back out of the parking lot that other cars aren’t coming!

One of my favorite places in Agawam. Fresh fresh fresh. The bang for the buck is incredible. The staff is amazing. What they have to offer is truly unique. My mother has gone here since before I was born. A family owned business that is a privilege to have in this town. A place that needs zero advertisement and runs completely off of word of mouth. If you are new to this town go there, you won’t be disappointed with the quality of food. Also they only except cash.

I think their homemade Italian Sausage is very good and reasonably priced. They also have a nice selection of other Italian Imported products at fair prices. I strictly base my rating on that… not on service. The grinder I had was ‘meh’. I wouldn’t drive out of my way for it, even if it was super sized. They only take cash. And don’t expect a smile, trust me on that one. :)

Now here is a very special place… I have been going here for years… Its a old spot … but it adds to the charm… For just a few dollars you can get one of the best and largest sandwiches in town… For the price it is unbeatable … The roast beef sandwich is my favorite… although there Hot Capicola is great as well… Fresh and authentic … Definitely give this place a visit… Your money will go a long way… And the quality is great… 5 stars hands down

My stepdad’s family is from Agawam so I grew up loving this place. Fond memories… like when I was 11 or so and they ran out of their hot sausage. They substituted the sweet and a seeming handful of hot pepper flakes. Damn, I drank a lot of water that night… This was back in the days when I still called a sub a grinder and was none the wiser. Serious good times. So… don’t tell my out-of-state lady friend to whom I hyped this place up something fierce, but I was a little disappointed when I came back for the first time in a decade or so. The biggest problem was, despite the fact that it was not a cold-cut sub, it wasn’t terribly warm. The bread wasn’t toasted, the cheese wasn’t completely melted, and the marinara sauce wasn’t exactly burning the roof of my mouth. The sausage itself was excellent, as always, although it ran at about the temperature of Italian leftovers. All that said, you get a lot for your buck. Coming from California, where Subway can run as high as $ 7, it was nice getting reacquainted with Pajer’s. That said, given that the volume is mostly comprised of the bread, carbophobes should stay clear. Summary: It’s hot and it’s cold. Yes and then no.

Yes, the grinders are large and filling, but I wasn’t too impressed with the overall taste of the bread and limited toppings. Also, what’s up with cash only?

Thank you Shane for making me aware of this truly spectacular place. Yes its an Italian grocery with all sorts of canned and bottled goods. Yes it has a large refrigerated case for home-made entrees, sauces, soups, etc, yes you can buy a bag of pasta as big as a pillow for $ 5, but the real star of this show is the crazy gigantic and CHEAP grinders. Prices are $ 4.50 or $ 5 for a small and $ 9 or $ 10 for a large. We ordered two smalls– a ham and cheese and an Italian Combo. The size of these things are stupendous my small Combo was 4″ wide, 8 «long and had a ton of cold cuts on it. It was sooooo good. The lettuce, tomato, and onion were crisp and fresh, the cheese tasted great also. A «small» grinder can easily feed two for lunch. I cut mine in half and saved the rest for tomorrow. Two meals for $ 5 –can ya dig it? We also bought a nice slab of lasagna for just $ 3.39. It had meatballs and sausage in there. What a fabulous value. Another reason why I love Unilocal, because otherwise I never would have known this place existed.

I’m not rating this tiny, run-down Italian market located on one of the most absurdly shaped intersections in southwest mass four stars for the imported canned goods which only an old timer could appreciate. I’m not rating the selection of frozen soups, the bags of pizzelles, the olive oil… no. I’m not giving the $ 1 ham steaks, or super cheap Italian charcuterie, or the insanely low prices this rating. No amazing macaroni salad is being talked about here. Stuffed peppers? Nope. Sausage? Absolutely not. I’m giving Pajer’s a four star rating because for seven bucks you can buy a two foot long mammoth grinder made on an entire loaf of bread. SEVENBUCKS!!! The anemic grinder you could buy from Subway for seven bucks makes this convenience food look downright heroic. You could strap four Subway grinders together and it still wouldn’t be half as magnificent. These are grinders on sandwich steroids. This is easily the biggest lunch I’ve accidentally bought all year. How they stay in business with this price structure is beyond me. Local secret for sure.

One of the best places to get a grinder in Pioneer Valley, and the best sandwich value that I have found. The grinders are huge and under-priced for their size. They have a good variety of deli items for sale as well, which I have not tried yet but they are also inexpensive in price. Bring cash.

A friend brought me here when I was in Agawam a few years ago. It is still one of the most memorable grinders I’ve had. At first it seemed expensive, but this thing ended up being 4 whole meals for me. The quality of the meat is very good. I look forward to returning to this legendary grinder shop.

I found this little Deli & Meat store when I got lost coming back from Feeding Mills. Wonderful deli meats, haven’t had the grinders yet. The only thing missing were the Stella Dora cookies my grandmother had to go along with the Ginger Ale, though they did have pizzels.

Best Italian cold cut in Agawam! My dad loves Pajer’s because it reminds him of the little Italian stores he grew up around in northern Jersey. You can get assorted items in jars and cans such as marinated musrooms, artichokes, peppers… as well as fresh made goods, meatballs and sausage, etc… And like one reviewer already said the subs are as big as a elephant trunk!

I have a hard time believing anyone within a short distance of Pajer’s could require any kind of government assistance– one sub could feed a family of four for two days! Or me on a car ride back to Boston. The subs, sorry GRINDERS, are colossal. My boyfriend brought me here and I thought there was a mistake when I first saw my sandwich. It was the size of my arm. And incredibly delicious. My boyfriend suggested I eat half for lunch and half for dinner. But… I hate reheating subs. So I ate the whole damn thing and didn’t need dinner… or breakfast the next morning. And the price was still about $ 5. Insane. The store also has some Italian wares such as gnocchi, sauces, olives, artichoke hearts, etc. But, really I only have eyes for the meatball sub. Maybe I should suggest a visit to Agawam…
