I really like the climb up this mountain. The trailhead of kanan is easy to find and park at. The trail there has a few start paths but they all meet up rather quickly. The full climb up takes about 1:20 if you have a good pace. There are two points that are hand and foot climbing along the main path so not kid or timid friendly. The view is great from the top.

This is a daunting and perilous hike, fraught with large, rattling serpents. The very ground crumbles beneath your feet at every step, and the summit disappears each time you are close to reaching it, a la Shangri-La. Fierce coyote-like creatures mark the path with foul droppings of black and red, which are deadly upon contact with skin, as they contain a powerful neurotoxin. Do not attempt to climb Ladyface Mountain, aka, The Dark Hill, for you will pay for it with your life. BTW, I run up and down it 4 times a week for a quick 400 calorie burn. It takes about 45 minutes round-trip and in no circumstance do you need water.

Beautiful views on the way up and from the top, but be warned, this is not a beginner’s trail. The path is narrow, with loose gravel, and is very steep in parts. Those with a fear of heights may find certain parts of the trail a bit daunting.

Never realized this was just up the street from work. The view from the top is amazing! Many Angelenos don’t realize the beauty of the area. You will discover the many lakes of Agoura/Westlake. Plus, you can even see Palos Verdes on a clear day! Definitely a novice to intermediate hike as there are about three rock climbs, loose gravel, and many opportunities to walk the ridge. Those with fear of heights may have issues at times — will have to use three points of contact or lower your center of balance.

Your own weekend half day personal growth amateur Mt Everest hike. And you can leave your rope, spike shoes and oxygen tank at home. The view is amazing on a clear day. San Fernando Valley! Ventura! All of Agoura Hills! The Santa Monica Mountains! Like standing on the wing of an airplane! You will be bragging to your lazy office mates for a month!

LOVE this hike! My quads were very sore the next day. Definitely pace yourself with this one if you are a newbie at hiking. Takes about 2 – 3 hrs depending on experience. It took us about 2 hrs, but we spent 20 minutes at the top admiring the BEAUTIFUL view(great views the entire time!) and jogged down. Bring water! lots. The whole hike is on a ridge so you get views on both sides. We even saw a police chase when we were at the top! lol Great workout! Bring your friends

a short(3 miles round trip) but intense workout, definitely not for beginners or anyone with a fear of heights. even an experienced hiker can get the willies in a few places here :). the volcanic rocks are really beautiful and interesting. please be aware that a climb up the lady includes class 3 rock climbing — not a problem, but you need to keep 3 points of contact at all times. also put anything of value in a backpack as things can easy fall out of pockets here. you’ll work up a big sweat in no time on ladyface! views of the conejo and san fernando valleys are outstanding, and i really got a feeling of accomplishment at the top. an alternate descent continues westward along a ridge and then northward down a steep unmaintained and rough trail and then of course an eastward turn back to kanan and a bit closer to agoura rd.

This is a great hike for the intermediate to advanced hiker. You can start on Kanan Road after Agoura Road and the first bend heading towards the beach. You can either start right near the speed limit sign or closer to the bend. The easier hike it near the bend where you climb a tough up-hill route that is pretty well cleared. Towards the top the terrain becomes a bit steep and slick with all the uneasy dirt on rocks. Once you are the top there is a huge boulder that can be climbed to get a view of Woodland Hills, Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks NB Park, and almost Simi Valley. The best time to go is 30 minutes before the sunrise, as the sunrise is purely amazing while up the mountain. Once a the peak, you can either head back down, or traverse down the steep rock face on the Agoura Hills side of the mountain. I’d recommend using a harness for beginners and watch for unstable rocks. Make sure you bring plenty of liquids(40−60oz per person) and a snack. Round trip is between 2 and 4 hours. It is really a great hike and I highly recommend it.
