Chef Ed made every step of my privately catered, sit down dinner for twelve as easy as possible. Every detail was attended to, the food was fabulous, the staff friendly and efficient and the at-home 80th birthday party was a big success. He suggested a six course meal that included mouth watering appetizers, a delicious main course of the local catch with chorizo and a fork-tender teriyaki steak. Dessert was his famous specialty, a decadent combination of nutella, ice cream, chocolate sauce and graham crackers. I would recommend Kuhola Culinary for any catering needs you might have, from small dinner parties to large celebrations.

If you’re looking for fabulous food made-to-order for your next party, celebration or just romantic evening search no further! Chef Ed is spectacular — a true professional with a passion for food and his clients. He is a one man show– chef, waiter, host, bus boy, dishwasher extraordinaire. Not only are all his dishes delicious but his service is beyond 5 stars. He had catered our wedding rehearsal a couple years back and as fate would have it I discovered him again(now with his own catering company) for my best friend’s baby shower. Again, never a disappointment! The ladies raved over his dishes(especially his perfectly stuffed French toast & not-overly-sweet bread pudding) and he was so sweet(came running over when we dropped a utensil to replace it and cleaned up everything as soon as we were finished). His attention to details were appreciated as well– provided real utensils, beautiful dish ware and restaurant-style napkins(no ghetto paper goods); made the food taste that much better. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Chef Ed. He answers emails/texts ASAP(even at 7am) and is so accommodating and helpful. I never thought catering a party would be this easy and affordable. He definitely is a great value and a much better alternative to restaurant parties. We asked Chef Ed for pupus to pair with beer and feed a group of 100 – 150 professionals moving from one open house to the next. He nailed it. The food was delicious and varied. I had multiple people ask for his contact info. In addition to his on-site professionalism and clean presentation, leading up to the event he was easy to communicate with, attentive and had great suggestions. A true collaborator. Thank you Chef Ed! I look forward to working with you again.

This was my first time using a caterer(besides getting food catered by a hotel or restaurant) and I’m kind of a food nerd so I enjoyed it. Chef Ed was very quick to respond and very accommodating to all my needs including my price point. I asked for $ 20 per person and quoted me $ 16 per person which gives you room for tax and tip. He was very flexible with the menu. I was only needing a couple of dishes for my 2 year old’s small birthday party. Menu was: –JD baby back ribs — DELICIOUS. Everyone loved them. Chef said they were even better fresh and had that crunch. He brought them all wrapped up with no holes(I imagine for transporting them) so they lost that crunch but were delicious. –chicken yakisoba noodles with vegetables — because noodles are my daughter’s favorite food. They were also yummy but if I were going to have a non-child event I probably would’ve picked something more grown-up. –truffle miso butter corn. They were also yummy. I told him I would pay more for organic corn and he said he would do that no charge — yay! I ordered food for 20 people, not everyone ate(party started at 3 and food arrived around 5pm, and people left early). I have a TON of food left. I think his portions are quite generous. Food was due 5pm, but he arrived early which was also awesome. He set everything up, was very nice and professional. I want to hire him again but I would prefer to have him cook or serve at event so I don’t miss out on that crunch again, and also order more grown-up dishes like I see in the pictures.

Chef Kuoha had done our silent auction event at our children’s school and was so willing to accommodate our needs! Not only was the food delicious, he was very professional! The other cooks and himself were dressed in their black attire, displayed the food in an extravagant way, and even ensured that he had beautiful utensils to accommodate! Although we only requested for 2 dishes to be served by him, he went all out! We had a carving station that was served with warm bread and it hit the spot. Thinking about it makes my mouth water! The Ahi served in Nori wrap was absolutely amazing, it was a wonder everyone grab it fast. If you ever want to plan a private party and need someone to cater, Chef Kuoha is who you need to hire! You won’t regret it!

Quick to respond, a great communicator with excellent follow-through, Chef Ed was a pleasure to work with. The night of the event he went over and above in his availability, flexibility, food prep, presentation and quality. When our wedding planner fell through at the last moment, we had to start planning from scratch. One of the biggest details was finding someone to cater our intimate reception. When I read Chef Ed’s profile on Unilocal,I was hopeful. I have to say that all my expectations were far exceeded, from my first email with Chef Ed to the moment he drove away. He stated that he wanted to get into the mindset of the client. With one email, this guy had calmed my fears about my food allergy. Chef Ed did all his research about the allergy, and I learned a thing or two about this allergy that I have been living with my whole life. That was the start of an experience that was extremely awesome. These words seem over the top — but Chef Ed is truly top notch. He created a 7 course meal that burst with flavor from beginning to end. It is truly impressive when a chef can create something amazing using a food that I never liked before. Chef Ed did that with one of the courses. Chef Ed says he is all about getting the wow from his clients. His service, his food, his presentation, his flavors, his attention to detail, and overall experience got a big WOW from my new husband and I. He stayed in our budget and created a dining experience we will always remember.

Chef Ed went above and beyond to accommodate a private dinner ON Lanakai Beach complete with linens, chair covers, centerpiece tiki torches and the most amazing 4 course meal. His attention to detail was impeccable. He was easy to work with, was very flexible and the food was AMAZING! This is the second experience we have had using Chef Ed and each experience was professional and the food delicious. From a party for 20 to a private beach front dinner, he exceeded our expectations. We hired Chef Ed Kuoha for a private catering event in Kapolei on 12⁄30. The menu included assorted sushi/nigiri(Ed brought along a sushi chef who took special requests), Maui french onion soup, salmon, Rib-eye steak, awesome side dishes and a delicious dessert(fondue — the kids loved it). He brings it all — including way nicer dishes vs what the condo had as well as serving pieces. If you’re looking to do a special event/in home catering — Kuoha Culinary should be checked out. We tweaked the menu until everyone was satisfied and then Ed exceeded expectations on all counts. It was a great time. And the place was spot clean when they left(actually cleaner than when they arrived). Thanks Ed!
