Best pancake of my life! I’ll qualify that by disclosing I am 49 years old. Really great breakfast, reasonable prices and good service. Low risk option for a great meal…

This was a great find in downtown Aiken. The food was fabulous and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We had the lunch special of a panini with black forest ham, spinach, Brie, and mango chutney which was fabulous! We split the sandwich and got a side of chili cheese tater tots. Plenty food for two with some left over. The sandwich had a slightly sweet and salty taste. It was great!!! The tater tots covered in chili was huge. Definitely need a fork. Plenty of seating. If in Aiken, I would give them a try!

I had a strange experience at What’s Cookin’ Downtown. I held the door for another gentleman as he walked in. 3 times the employees thought that we were together even though I didn’t even speak to the stranger. The person who I am assuming is the owner awkwardly hovered around the restaurant. He interrupted two of the employees while they were talking to me: Cashier: «And what side do you want with that? The sides are right here. We have –« Owner: «See ‘em?» Yes, they are right in front of me and she is reading them off to me. Me: «I’ll have the coleslaw» Cashier: «Alright – » Owner: «It’s good today.» Anyway. .. the setting. I was surprised at how large this place was. There are two entrances and the restaurant just keeps going back and back. Nice atmosphere. The Food: I got a reuben with coleslaw for a side. The reuben was on flattened, nearly burned bread. I think it was rye? I saw that the Cuban sandwich was the special. Did they accidentally flatten my sandwich thinking it was a Cuban? The corned beef was delicious. Sauerkraut spot-on. The coleslaw was pretty good. Even though you get a side, you also get chips. .. which were just crumbled Lay’s… Overall, just an average experience. I may come back by here but it won’t be at the top of my list.

I went there last month, upon the recommendation of a friend. I was so impressed with their takeout casseroles and desserts. I bought enough food for my family of four to eat the main dish at dinner for an entire week!!! The food was so good I went back to try the dine-in menu with a friend. We got sandwish which came with two sides, dessert and a drink. I ended up taking half of the sandwich and the dessert home for my dinner. I recommend this place highly. Great customer service also.

I love WHAT’S COOKIN’! This is the second time this week that I have had their chicken salad sandwich. I am sure it is the best in town. Chunky chicken, fresh grapes, and nuts it’s ah-mazing!

Tried to eat breakfast there this morning, looking for something different. First thing we were told no French toast no pancakes. So we ordered biscuits and gravy and two eggs. Was then told we not not making biscuits & gravy either. Why open for breakfast if are you going to serve is eggs and grits. Could’ve been better if the server was a little bit more friendly. Needless to say I can’t rate the food because we never got a chance to eat!

Great breakfast Tasty. Fills you up, tastes great, and inexpensive. Great view of downtown. I really wanted to try the cakes, but it was too early. My only complaint: blinds are badly needed to block the sun.

The power is out. All the other restaurants we tried couldn’t make a sandwich without electricity. «What’s Cookin’ Downtown» gets a 5 star rating for good food and entrepreneurial spirit! We are eating sandwiches in a power outage!
