I hate this bar. It’s dance club loud, in a lounge. Most of the patrons are college student shells. If you have no personality and like to drink in excess, this is your place.

Ok Akronite’s. When it comes to a great selection of IPAs Akron pubs come up short. No you say,? well to be fair I’m native San Diegan so I’m tainted. But for me It was tough to find a GOOD hoppy/citrusy non malty IPA. Then I was referred to «69 Taps». Hated their(not open till 4 pm) deal. But i’m sure THEY know the local market & cost to staff this place so. Any way, excellent selection & the gal who was serving me knew far more about good IPAs than any place I when to in town.(On Tap, Winking Lizard„(Baxters came in second place for brews & knowledge). Place next door to Baxters, & a ½ doz. other places not worth mentioning. I went there on a Monday & their special was a steak dinner for $ 4 bucks ! Crazy deal. 69 Taps has a cool patio out back as well. If you are a «IPA» Nazi then do yourself a favor & hit this place up.

This place is just awful now. It’s been on the decline for a while but it has definitely hit rock bottom. The only two servers working decided to go on a 10 min. break together and smoke weed on the patio while leaving the bar unattended. Upon returning to the bar, they didn’t even wash there hands. This was the last time that I will ever go here. They need to properly train there staff. Just avoid this place at all costs. The cheap prices aren’t worth the awful service/environment.

Probably my favorite place to get a drink, it’s a hole in the wall, smells like piss, the floors are sticky, lately the bartenders kind of suck, but they have a lot of beer and it’s a pretty good deal at happy hour. Has a nice patio in the summer and on Friday nights you can get a good view of the Aeros fireworks. On Monday nights they have $ 4 steak night with the purchase of two beers, which isn’t bad. Other than the steak I would stay far away from their food!

Typical college area bar with lots of seating, good bartenders and a big patio.

I’m an avid beer drinker and whenever I order beers here they tend to taste worse than what I’m accustomed to. It’s like they don’t clean the tubes that the beer flows through or something. $ 4 dollar steak night on Monday’s from 6 – 9 is the way to go!

They have a great selection of craft breweries. Their prices are really good especially during Happy Hour. The service is great they’re friendly, talkative and smiling. It’s got a divey feel but the beer selection and the service really make up for it.

I haven’t been to this bar in a while but I used to come here a lot in college for Thursday night(Ladie’s night) because they had $ 2 Long Islands. Those things were no joke, they would really mess you up(and sneak up on you!). Any other night besides Thursday was always really slow and pretty boring. Thursday however was packed. Also annoying, packed with undersagers… yes, Thursday night was also 18+ night. The odd thing about this bar is there’s no dance floor. However, the girls still dress like sluts and act like there’s a dance floor even though the music is coming from a juke box in a game room. Classsss all the way. This place is cool because of the 69 taps, so if you’re into beer, have at it. Beer and I broke up a while ago when I realized its the reason why I get deathly hangovers so I’ll just stick to the $ 2 Long Islands and have myself a good time.

PROS: –Great beer selection –Super Happy Hour on Friday, 4 – 9. $ 2 and $ 3 drafts. –Great location. If you want to do dinner before or more bars everything is easy to walk to. –Nice patio for the summer months. –Usually it’s not too crowded and we usually are able to find a seat at the bar on a Friday night. –We’ve never had a problem with service and typically my bar isn’t even gone before they’re asking what’s next. CONS: –The bar needs a serious scrubbing. Sticky floors and very sticky bar area. Bathroom also never really gets cleaned it seems. –Food is gross. Everytime we try to order the fryer doesn’t work or something so they microwave. SO nasty. Learned to just eat before/after. Overall, a bar we love to visit and will keep visiting especially if they keep happy hour just as is :)

I like this place because I can walk here along the Tow Path,(nothing like a beer after exercising) and they serve Roo Brew! The beer slingers are quick and friendly.

«meh». Great selection of beer; terrible service and music too loud. Did I mention they have 69 types of beer on tap?

This place has the worst service, they have 4 – 5 bartenders, half of them hide out in the back. I waited for a drink one night while 2 of the bartenders poured themselves a couple of pints, started drinking and talking about their days, ignoring us the customers. There were 5 other people waiting for beers and we all couldn’t believe this was happening. If you go here, order 2 or 3 drinks at a time.

Terrible service, everything is sticky, and the drinks are really weak. However, if you stick to the specials it is the perfect place to start your buzz.

The music is way too loud and it’s way too crowded in here, but it’s worth it for the beer selection they have.

This has been one of my favorite spots since college and, since moving away, I am only able to stop in a few times a year. The beer selection is clutch and, since the opening of Barley House, it is never overly crowded and uncomfortable. I have noticed that the bar service has been much slower lately since the last time I was there(about a year ago) when there were different bartenders. The bathrooms were a bit nastier than I remembered, too, and I don’t appreciate my jeans getting wet at the bottom from floors. Also, some of the prices for«premium» beers were a little higher than I’d expect for Ohio costs — they were more like the current prices I pay in Chicago. The outdoor patio is amazing when it’s warm out and it provides some fresh air when you’re a bit boozy. One warning — be careful of the 20+ stairs from the street into the bar — my friend Kelly had a St. Patrick’s Day drunken misfortune of falling down all of them. It wasn’t pretty.

For you beer lovers out there(69 taps!!)…this is the place to be. Especially for happy hour till 9:00 for $ 2 pints on Fridays. It’s low key. a good place to just hang out and relax with friends without all the hype of a ‘club’ bar. Good selection of booths, tables, bar area… and good weather brings a small patio option. Minus one star for smokiness.

Good beer selection, but nothing that you couldn’t find elsewhere. Tends to draw the wrong crowd for the beers that it has, so the truly good beers(Dogfish Head, Bells) are usually sold out or spoiled, but the draft specials(coors, bud light, etc) are always around. Draws a mixed crowd, and is sure to please everyone in a group. Nobody will hate it, but nobody will love it, either.
