Akron Rubber Ducks

The Akron Rubber Ducks is an extremely cost effective and fun family night out. I highly suggest purchasing the ten-​flex which gives you 10 tix for any time. The tickets are $ 5 – 8 each and the food is really good. Lots of entertainment between innings for the kids.
The parking is also cheap — $ 5

As always they are a great place for the whole family. Tonight was expecially nice as it was a double hitter game and there was fireworks. They do fireworks on Fridays. There is always a wide verity of activities and great food.

Came to the stadium today with a BIG group and a bunch of vans/​busses, as well as most people who were at the game today. I just wanted to give a big «thank you» to the entire stadium/​events staff. Everyone from the people working concessions to people directing busses were so kind and patient and it made everything a whole lot easier! What an awesome experience.

I remember cheering on the Akron Aeros when Canal Park Stadium first opened. I also remember when the Aeros were The Blast; named in honor of Judith Resnick who died in the Challenger explosion in the 80s. Maybe a better name would have been «The Akron Cringe».
But with another change after more than a decade — The Akron Rubber Ducks — I was eager to revisit the park after a years-​long absence. It was even better than I remember! My friends and I went to a game this weekend, and we had an absolute… BLAST!
It is such a beautiful ballpark! Every seat in the stadium is a good one. The food and beer prices are substantially less than Progressive Field. All the in-​between play entertainment was awesome, too.
We went on Black Keys night — we got vouchers for a Black Keys bobblehead and enjoyed a super sweet Black Keys-​themed fireworks display after the game.
My favorite part of the entire game, though, was the antics of the Zooperstars, those huge inflatable dancing mascots with punny sports names like Harry Canary, Tim Tebull, Clammy Sosa (that one was kind of gross), etc. The Nolan Rhino dance-​off with two of the baseball players literally made me cry from laughter.
Tip: We bought a 3 Dog Night hot dog from the food stand… and I have to report that it was a mistake. This is a turducken of hot dogs — it’s a hot dog inside of a brat inside of a kielbasa. It sounds awesome and delicious, but truly impractical and nauseating. That novelty wore off after about 4 seconds. Three of us did our best to eat it, but it still went largely untouched.

I really enjoyed Canal Park and my experience at the Akron Aeros game. For anyone that remembers, this used to be a dilapidated part of downtown Akron with about 30 various vacant lots and blighted buildings. They built this $ 31M, 9,000, seat stadium in 1997 and have generally kept very good care of it.
The team does a lot when not in play to make the experience fun for all. This is a perfect night out for families that don’t want to spend $ 1k at Jacob’s Field to watch the MLB Indians.
Here in Akron, tickets are easy to come by, $ 9, they’ll book them over the phone and just pick them up at will call.
Ticket salesman on the phone suggested parking in the Akron Children’s Medical Center lot at 199 Bowery St, to take the bridge over the canal right into the left field entrance. While there was no wait at the entrance, I would avoid this parking lot on a fireworks night as they use the park at the bottom of the garage level as staging area for police, fire and the pyro team. Most of the walkway from the garage to the ballpark were roped off, and they made you walk completely around a medical building to avoid the pyro area after the event to get to your car to leave.
They have a crystal clear jumbotron (said to be largest in minor league baseball) with lots of graphics and a few cameras. Don’t give your kids high hopes that they’ll make it on the jumbotron as it appeared that they only had one roving camera, and the other cameras didn’t appear to have very good lenses, or at least the operators never used their lens. I’d also avoid looking at replays as it was the worst sequencing of baseball plays I’d ever seen. So bad that the high home camera tried to go so tight that he’d miss the throw at home and the runner crossing the plate. At one point during the national anthem they even hit the replay wipe instead of a dissolve! The dissolves were super slow too… a true example for TV 101 of what not to do.
Our children really loved the inflatable slide in the right field fun zone. $ 1 per ticket, but our one son landed in a pool of water, getting his sox wet and he refused to wear them the rest of the night. The staff were complaining to each other that they were being inundated with children and that they needed more interns to run the attractions. If that’s the case, perhaps they need some paid staff members to do better and supervise the fun zone.
The seats were great behind home plate, but the net they use is tough to see through. Suggest you get seats unobstructed by the backstop netting. One of the seats in our group had a pretty significant crack in it.
The team did really well, but fans largely are unaware of who these guys are. Perhaps the scoreboard could do a better job at player bios or even videos snippets on where they’re from. Then link the Akron players to the MLB team. The Indians have long had a Dominican training facility, but no one would know it at the Aeros games as they don’t mention a thing about these kids backgrounds in baseball.
If you’ve had too much to drink or one too many hotdogs, the restroom facilities were remarkably clean, well kept and generally a pleasant experience. My lovely wife described the women’s room as immaculate (for a sports stadium). They covered all the basics. Clean stalls, running water, soap filled, and paper towels in the dispensers (something their major league counterparts could learn from).
Can’t wait to return. Next visit I want to bring 20-​friends and try out one of their suites.

I ran in the relay portion of the Akron Marathon and the post race was at Aeros Stadium…
Wow!!! It was beautiful! I don’t really know if it was the GLORIOUS sunny day and that fact I was all hopped up on endorphrens from running 5 miles but I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that race finishers were all camped out on the playing field of this very well appointed facility!
Oh btw… All the beautiful people are runners and marathoners because it was CHOCK FULL of freakend gods and goddesses…

Canal Park is like a mini version of Progressive Field. All the sears are great, and very inexpensive. You can park for about $ 5 anywhere near the park in a number of lots.
My kids love to go. The park is very clean. They do a great job between innings entertaining the kids. The food is just typical ball park quality and a bit $$.
Unless you are a diehard Major league fan who doesnt care for AA baseball, this is much better value and you can see great baseball with some up and coming talent for a great price and atmosphere.

Great. Very reasonably priced with great promotions. Good for a night out.

For being only one county away from Jacobs Field (I refuse to call it Progressive Field), the Akron Aeros really know how to attract fans and put on a good show.
The stadium, which can seat about 5,000 on a good day, is situated where the former Anthony Wayne Hotel (?) used to be. For all it has to offer, it also has a great view of the sewage dump known as the Ohio & Erie Canal. It also has some of the best cuisine in all of baseball.
This past offseason, the Aeros brought in the Head Chef from the Charleston (SC) RiverDogs, whose stadium was featured on «Man v. Food». He has installed insane dishes that have been featured on the Daily Show, Good Morning America, and they’ve even reached out to be on an episode of MVF (I’ve heard a rumor that they want to come to Akron, but I don’t know if that’s true). They have a kielbasa/​sausage/​hot dog concoction called «Three Dog Night», a hot dog/​hamburger/​bacon delicacy called the «Nice 2 Meat You» Burger. They also have a 5-​pound ice cream helmet and a foot-​long hot dog that comes with over 40 toppings.
Then there’s the Dollar Beer Nights every Thursday night. I don’t remember much about these nights — I’ve been to two — so you know it’s pretty awesome.
Oh, then there’s the baseball team. Unlike Cleveland teams, Akron teams can actually win shit. The Aeros are regular competitors for the Eastern League crown, so if you are in Ohio and want to check out a good baseball team, you need to come to Akron.
All in all, this is my favorite baseball stadium — and I’ve also been to two MLB stadiums.

What a great baseball stadium. Not a bad seat wherever you are assigned. Clean and well managed. Spacious and located well in Akron. Parking isn’t too tricky and tix are not expensive. A wonderful way to enjoy America’s «favorite pastime» in a super ballpark. Batter Up!

Canal Park is a slightly smaller version of the big league stadiums situated in Downtown Akron less than 10 minutes from our house.
Parking was convenient and inexpensive — $ 5 and 3 blocks away @ 15 minutes before first pitch.
Ticket prices were great — $ 8/​adult for reserved seating.
We also saw a good baseball game without the hassle, expense and travel of a Cleveland game.
I can see this being a go-​to activity for our family on a weekend afternoon!

The Akron Aeros are a good team to come and watch if you’re in greater Akron and want to watch inexpensive sports. Their stadium, Canal Park, is very nice and clean. It’s easy to navigate and you can’t get a bad seat because of it’s size. However, I do have a bone to pick with the team. They’re a slow team. I went to a game against Erie, and it took four hours to play! They aren’t the best team, but it’s minor leagues, so it’s no big surprise. At the end of the game I went to, there were fireworks, which were great. They were very unusual, a nice change from the standard fireworks display. Overall, if you have plenty of time and want to watch an inexpensive baseball game, head on out to Canal Park.
