Phenomenal food and exceptional service. The pork especially was just perfect. The Pollo taco was good too, but, one should definitely get the Pastor and Chorizo. Really really good. Lives up to the hype. Would highly recommend this.

I took a chance on the other five star reviews and I’m glad I did. This is wonderful food.

Super delicious! This place is attached to a convenience store, and when you walk in there is a large counter where you can see the ladies making your food, and all of the televisions are in Spanish. This was the highest rated restaurant in the area, so we thought we’d give it a shot. Such a great deal for the price– our meal for two people was $ 7.50! Boyfriend got two tamales and a chicken taco, and I got two chicken tacos. Yum!

The other reviews are not exaggerating. It looks like a dive in a run-down strip plaza. But inside you’ll find a clean, well-managed, bilingual friendly establishment containing the most authentic, delicious Mexican food in Akron(not to mention the best Mexican I’ve had anywhere.) My only disappointment was finding out this place has been LURKING in my neighborhood for quite a long time, which makes me feel like I have missed out on many good meals. Fear not, I won’t let another week go by without this goodness in my belly.

I love this place! Only a few items in the menu, but it’s delicious and authentic. I’ve tried their tacos, tamales, flautas, chimichangas, quesadillas. The green sauce is the bomb and their red sauce is as hot as a fire.

La Loma is now my measuring stick for Mexican food. The service was fast, prices were low, and the food tasted fresh and delicious! The inclusion of chips and salsa only sweetened the deal for us. We sampled six tacos(two each of chorizo, chicken, and steak), the sope with carne asada, and the tamales. All items were pleasing to the eye and to the palette. For two drinks, six tacos, two tamales, and a sope was under $ 20. I’m not sure you’ll find the same quality at the same prices anywhere else in the area. We will definitely return to sample the other menu items and to patronize a business with such authentic Mexican fare. Don’t allow the easy-to-miss location, relatively small parking lot, or the small size of the operation deter you from giving them a fair shake.

I would have loved to stay longer and try some more things on the menu, but since I just wanted a short lunch I ended up just getting 2 tacos: one sausage and one chicken. They were really good and came out fresh. For $ 1.50 each, I was really happy with them! Cheap, no frills, and quick – I was in and out within 15 minutes.

I just moved into the neighborhood and I’m hooked… I get food there 2−3X a week. I’ve tried the full menu already, and everything is fantastic! I’ve had authentic Mexican food in San Diego, and nothing was able to match that taste in Ohio for me… until now. Highly recommend the pork tortas and the barboca tacos. If you’re looking to get away from the same old Mexican food, there’s only one place. La Loma!

The tacos pastor were great. Chorizo Queso was out of this world. Staff was friendly. Can’t wait to go back.

Great authentic Mexican food. One of our top favorite places. It’s counter service but has a nice size dining area We’ve gone several times and taken people. We haven’t had a meal yet that everyone didn’t love It can get pretty crowded. Be prepared to wait or try again at less popular times This is not the usual Mexican joint. Try it!

After seeing review after review talking about how awesome this place is, I decided to give it a try over the weekend… wow! Every review is on point, small(but delicious) tacos, BIG burritos, and the sauce that came with it all complimented everything perfectly. It’s not an expensive place and the meat is cooked just right. If this place was closer to my house I would go there all of the time, but for now it’s permanently on my radar for when I’m in the area.

Think street tacos. So good. Not a ton of different food options, but each choice(tacos, flautas, etc) can be made with your choice of meats. Note that the tacos are on the small side, so you need a few at least! Guacamole is quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. You order at the counter — they take cash or credit — then move to the dining room, and your food is brought out when it’s ready. Be sure to ask the server for sauce. They have two options, one is green and one is red… no idea what they are exactly but they are so good! Don’t be thrown off by the little strip mall location. This is a place you choose for the food, not the ambiance. Great for a quick lunch.

Authentic mexican, my favorite kind of mexican food. Had four tacos: the asada, chorizo, pastor, and barbacoa. All were phenomenal. You know you are eating at a 5-star authentic restaurant when the tacos are just meat, onion, and cilantro(no cheese, sour cream, etc) and it tastes great! Get the Horchata! Even if you have never had Horchata before. This was one of the best Horchatas I have had. Advice: order at the counter before sitting down. I sat down first expecting a waitress to come to the table and ended up waiting 20mins before figuring it out.

Small menu done right and authentic. Order at the window upon entrance, the menu is front and center. I had the barbacoa taco and pastor taco… so good I could have ate ten of them(given I had just left the gym I behaved). My husband had a burrito. You could tell everything was fresh and quality. Loved the sauces they brougt with it. There is a small shop connected… shop and eat! We didn’t realize there were some off menu items like guacamole and rice, will give them a try on our next trip because we will be back!

Food, five stars absolutely. I can’t tell you what’s the best to try cuz everything was good. You literally can’t go wrong with anything. The taco is small tho, like reeeeaaaally small. so you might want to order like 6 of them if tacos are the only thing you are getting. The burrito seems quite big but still barely a meal size. There is a Mexican market attached to the restaurant. Take your time, walk around in there and maybe get some cultural groceries home with you :) The only reason I gave it a four, waaaaay too slow. We waited at least 30 minutes for our food. So give it at least like an hour for this food run. :) Oh oh oh and get the Chorizo!!! So good ugh!

Everything about this place is good. You order your food at the window when you walk in the door, and pay. Then, the food is brought to your table. We’ve tried everything that they offer, because we can’t get enough of this place. It’s not like every other Mexican restaurant that seems to pop up in every abandoned Pizza Hut and random strip mall restaurant in Akron. Their Pastor is divine.

Unpretentious, looks like an x-mas tree at night, but delivers the flavor! Inexpensive. Pastor and Lengua seem to be the favs here. Mexican market adjoins the restaurant for some to-go goodies, or their deli, you can really make your own authentic meal with ingredients from here if you’d rather cook it yourself.

Wow. Just wow. I don’t know how this place is so good. I happened upon this place when driving to the airport and I figured I could use a quick dinner. I had to forcibly hold myself back from ordering seconds. 4 tacos: 1 pastor, 1 lengua, 1 chorizo, and 1 barbacoa. Was it enough? Sure. Was it actually enough? …no, I should have gotten more. But yes, the meats here were so rich in flavor and ever so tender. It’s almost as if the meats were all raised in the back and freshly uhhh… Yeah. Anyway, the meat is wonderful! Surprising that some of the better tacos I’ve eaten would be found not in California, but in Ohio! Eating here just makes me raise my standards for when I’m back home in California. Perhaps I should find an excuse to come back to Ohio… Or this place could be my excuse to come back.

I was born 15 minutes from Mexico, and even though I moved as a child and have absolutely no recollection of living there, when I ate at La Loma I felt like I was taken back to a place where Mexican food was authentic and life was grand. Ha.but seriously, this place is REALLY good. I never thought it could possibly warrant all the great reviews with such inexpensive food but I was completely wrong! I was a little confused when I first walked in. There is a large entry way with a place to pay overlooking the kitchen and a sign that said Order Here. I asked the woman in the kitchen if there was someone to seat me but she was unable to understand me well enough to provide an answer. Soon another guy came around and informed me that I order there and they then bring my food out to me. I asked him for suggestions and he pointed out his shawarma machine slowly spinning his freshly grilled pork and told me that is what he recommended. At this point I went a little overboard though. Everything was so inexpensive I figured I may as well try a few things. I took the guy’s suggestion and selected an order of pork chimichangas, a taco al pastor, and a pork tamale. He told me everything was freshly homemade and seemed pretty enthusiastic about his food! I ordered a tamarindo Jarritos(¿¡because is there really any other valid option!?) to drink and chose a small table with a view of Fox news playing on the TV. There were around twelve 4-seat(on average) tables. I would imagine they could easily fill up at busier times. He brought me out a small portion of chips and salsa which was about a third of the amount you would typically get at a Mexican restaurant. This was actually really good though because I was dining alone and with all the food I ordered did not need more chips than this! I am sure that this helps allow him to keep his prices low than throwing out so many leftover chips with every meal. Within five minutes he brought out my three plates and a package of plastic silverware. And the food was great! Many of the pictures here give a very accurate image of the food. A couple of minutes later he stopped back by and asked me about my meal. I told him everything was fantastic(Everything tasted fresh and homemade. It truly was excellent)! I asked him if they ever prepare any interesting meats and he told me they had beef cheek in today. Now if you know me at all and know of all the interesting foods I prepare you will know that there is absolutely no way I could or would pass up a new experience so I had him bring me another taco! ¡The beef cheek taco was outstanding! It was incredibly tender and not near as fatty as cow tongue. It had a very mild offal(organ meat and entrails of a butchered animals) taste but was not anywhere close to as strong as tripas or even heart or liver. If you are up for trying new things I highly recommend trying this. It was only $ 0.50 more than the regular tacos. He did not have any desserts today and told me to come back tomorrow for some. Maybe he’ll have some on my next visit. All of this food and drink came to only $ 14 and $ 20 after tip so it was an excellent value! After I payed I stopped in «la tienda mexicana» on the other side of the large entry way. It was filled with all of the Mexican food and produce one could want! An extremely helpful and very friendly Italian woman was working in the shop and showed me some of the interesting items they sold. I ended up buying a large bottle of Pumpkin Flowers and a couple fresh, prickly Mexican Chayotes! I guess I’ll kill some time at work tomorrow perusing to find out what in the world I can cook with these! Overall it was a great meal and a fun little shop. It is worth driving out of your way to come here to get a delicious, authentic, chef-inspired meal.

Great local place serving up some authentic Mexican. This place uses a window ordering system, after which you can take your food to go, or take a seat in their dining room with a number, after which they will bring you your order. I stopped in on a Friday lunch hour– pretty busy and dining room was almost completely full, but all the staff were extremely friendly. I ordered two tacos(Soooo cheap– $ 1.75/each I think) two tamales, a side of rice and order of chips and guacamole. I ordered a drink as well and my total was about $ 14, so yeah– you won’t be breaking the bank eating here. I will say the food took longer than I expected, but I’m guessing because they were quite busy. When I was about to leave, one of the staff asked me how everything was and did apologize for the wait, so appreciated that they were doing their best to accommodate everyone despite the rush. The guac was excellent, some of the best I’ve had, complimented by thick corn tortilla chips. The tamales and rice were nothing special, and the tacos were good although pretty light on the toppings and the meat(pastor and barbacoa) was a bit dry for my liking, but then again I like my tacos to be dripping with sauciness. Still tasty though, and although the tacos were quite small, since they were so cheap I definitely wouldn’t balk over the size. I’d certainly be interested in trying more varieties since they had a lot to choose from. Overall, I felt this was a solid lunch/takeout place, service was great, and I think the food would have been even better had I come when it wasn’t as busy, but again I can’t fault them for that. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for authentic Mexican in the Akron area.
