Mary’s isn’t that good, and they really don’t give you plenty. OK they actually do give you plenty, pretty decent sized portions, and it’s certainly not bad. But it’s not wonderful enough for me to overlook major customer service issues, which I will now describe unto thee. So I used to go in there just to get their Country Fried Steak which is pretty good, and always juicy and wet and fried. It’s a bit thin for my liking, and nowhere near as good as the one at(blush) Cracker Barrel(which I’m ashamed of liking since it’s a chain). But it was still pretty good and close enough to cycle to and so I would get it fairly frequently. I was a regular. Then one day I asked for one single country fried steak«patty» instead of two, and no veggies with it. The first time was no problem. The second time it was a different woman who kind of made a scene about it not being on the menu, and acted put off and confused, but eventually gave it to me for about $ 5(the meal with 2 of them and veggies is $ 8) which was more than I got charged the first time. So I thought, okay, fair enough. Then my friend would pick them up for me every few weeks, and would either get me one of them($ 5), or 2 of them(for which they tried to charge her $ 10, she said, which makes no sense because the $ 8 version comes WITH veggies and is cheaper, so she just bought that instead and we wasted the veggies). Neither of us really liked their style when it came to this, so one day I went in there and asked for my usual 1 single country fried steak, and they said they couldn’t do it. They said they could only sell me the dinner. I explained that I am a regular and always get that, so they agreed to it, but didn’t charge me. Then I heard yelling in the kitchen. Then the girl came back out with the food, and rang me up for the full dinner. I said, what happened to the single patty I ordered? She said, oh, I just gave you the whole dinner… but she also charged me for the whole dinner. Which I didn’t order. I started to make a big deal about it, and heard the person in the kitchen going on about it… I was so annoyed, I paid for the food, put it down on the nearest table, said«free dinner for anyone who wants it», and walked out. I’ll never go back in there again because I don’t go out to get dinner so I can get that mad. I go out to dinner to get fed and occasionally treated like a valued customer. I did not like the way I was treated here. But if you just want decent diner food in Akron, check it out. It tastes pretty good. And a few of the servers are super nice. :)

Homestyle food for an incredible price. Don’t expect anything too fancy– but the service is excellent. Pies are delicious. I had a coffee, burger and fries and a piece of pie for $ 10. I love you, Mary!

G&P is a classic US diner. We went during the Halloween season and if awards were given out for decorations, G&P would take first prize. Jut amazing. The servers were very nice and what you might expect from a small town diner. We were there for breakfast and it was very reasonably priced and delicious. I got the breakfast special and especially liked the Italian sausage that came with my eggs. Breakfast is breakfast and most places can cook an egg and flip a pancake. M&P does breakfast quite well. I definitely would be a regular if I was a local.

A terrific diner with elegant, fancy coffees and terrific sandwiches. Also, a pretty good place to meet locals; factory owner and political candidate Jack Davis grabs a chicken salad sandwich here basically every day.
