Omg… I’ve been to many Chinese buffets… and I must say Royal is on my top 10 buffets. The food is really good and such a vast variety! Yum! I never eat fried chicken at a «Chinese buffet», here, it’s really good! The ambiance is very soothing & comfortable. Booths are very roomy & chairs are comfy. The hostesses are welcoming & attentive. Look forward to my next visit! #satisfiedcustomer

This place is an overall disappointment. The lunch time pricing is decent, the vegetables seem very fresh, and the sushi is decent for what you normally get at a buffet. That’s the only good I can say however. Most of the food I tried read either extremely bland and tasteless(the hot and sour soup had almost no flavor at all) or the entire dish tastes only of onion. The meat I tried is all dry, and a lot of it is very stringy because of this. On top of all that, most of the dishes were cold despite the place only opening 30 minutes ago. I didn’t try the fresh hibachi, but I don’t think it would be enough for me to recommend the place to anyone. You’re better off taking your money to one of the local takeout Chinese places and getting their cheep lunch special.

Ewe. I owned a small bakery/café for a period of time and I know what to look for as far as cleanliness. Have you ever looked at their walls around the restaurant? Especially by the ice cream machine… Going back into the bathrooms ?? And speaking of bathrooms… Gross. They never clean them. Now— reason this out within yourself. IF a restaurant doesn’t clean the open areas that the public can see— what do you think their kitchen looks like??? Ewe. Ewe. Ewe. The food has a very odd taste to me. The sushi is sub par. They don’t hold it to temp either most of the time. I wouldn’t eat anytg raw their for fear of food poisoning. I know this place is fairly popular, but I say that you folks need to raise your standards up a tad. I don’t think the original owners are there anymore, and hence— has gone downhill. Mindless grazing is what they are counting on at this buffet. The ppl who just like to gorge themselves and have no particular preference on what to do it with. Yuk. Ya’ll keep eating here. I would check the summit county health dept website first for their reports. It might surprise you.

This place is great when it’s busy, because they are consistently changing over empty food bins with new fresh food. I am a big fan of the Sushi here because it is FRESH! Doesn’t taste like buffet sushi at all! My boyfriend and his mother had the crab legs and said they were very good and worth every penny of the $ 10 up charge. When they are slow the food is a little less AWESOME still OK just not AWESOME. Service was polite and attentive. Price makes it worth it either way though! $ 12 all you can eat buffet. $ 10 up charge for all you can eat crab legs.

If we are going to a Chinese buffet we want fresh and clean. anytime we have stopped to eat here that is what we get they have a hibachi as well as a fresh salad bar. It’s been awhile I’ll have to search my local coupon magazine for $$ off. Now I want some Lomein noodles

I know I would have liked this place better if I was not sat next to a bigot. The worse part was that he was doing this in front of his child who couldn’t have been more than 14 years old. Great example there pops. This place is no better or worse than the Chinese restaurant that closed down next to Burlington Coat Factory.

Very disappointing meal. The low mein was bland, the chicken dish was tough. The hot tea was very bitter. Even the ice cream was low grade. The crab meat Rangoons tasted pasty. The only good things about my recent visit were the good service and the background music. They seem to be taking the path of least resistance. Very disappointing.

For your typical Chinese buffet, it’s pretty good. Fixes that Chinese craving. Lol. Love their hot and sour soup and their sushi is actually not that bad for buffet sushi. :). Their take out is awesome and better then ordering take out because you have more options and you can put whatever you want in your box, they just weigh by the pound. My family of 2 bad 2 boxes, and large soup for $ 14 with leftovers for lunch the next day. So, definitely affordable :). Lunch is their cheapest time. $ 7 and some odd cents and dinner is around $ 10 and weekends I think are a little more. But, like I said it fills that Chinese craving. Every time I have gone all their trays were full with hot food, never had cold food and someone was always there checking them and switching out ones that needed to be switched. The staff was nice and checked on us often as well. Can’t really complain! — I have only been here 3 times and all 3 times I would tell someone else to go there and I would keep going back myself :). Hope this helps! Oh it’s definitely family friendly. My daughter(2) was free and she ate a little off our plates, but there’s food for kiddos as well if they are not ready to go crazy with their taste buds :).

I love this place. The food is good, the sushi is good, the hibachi is great, I’ve never had a problem here! It is large and never full. They have a great selection as well.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review for Royal Buffet already. This is the most inconsistent place around. Some days, it’s pretty darned good. Then days like today, not so much. I got there a few minutes before noon, an hour after they open. The only thing that was even remotely warm was the little fried won ton things, crab rangoon? Everything else I had – fried rice, the fried chicken pieces for the sweet & sour, french fries, broccoli, roasted potatoes, won ton soup, fried fish – was cold. Just don’t get it. They eat the food, they have to know it’s cold, but they just keep charging $ 14+ for it.

What can I add that has not already been said? VERY large… so no wait to be seated even during the busy holiday shopping season. This is close to the Howe Ave. exit of Route 8 and the myriad fast food joints fill up fast on weekends… so this is a go to back up. Steam tables are run too hot and the pans do not fit well… so when it is not busy it is like a tropical rain forest on some of the lines… always random… but when it is busy and the trays are being used /changed out often it does not seem to be a problem. Crab is extra… grill chef is often absent… hard to pick items that are not deep fried. We have started heading North all the way to Macedonia for the Asian buffet there rather than come back here.

Delicious, not one dish I had was lacking in flavor. large selection, polite staff, normal buffet crowd, American as well a authentic Chinese plates. Royal also has a sushi and Mongolian BBQ where you can choose from a wide variety of fresh vegetables and meats. Royal buffet exceeded any expectation I had

We used to dine here every other week. My daughter is a picky eater and this was a restaurant that fit our needs. However, the quality of the food has really gone down hill in the past few months which is sad because it’s the only Chinese buffet in the area! The shrimp on the buffet is NOT fresh, you can actually smell it over the thick coconut sauce. The ice cream station is a sloppy mess. And the restrooms are APPALLING!!! Won’t be back unless I read better reviews!

My wife and I eat here fairly often. Food is always hot, only on rare occasions do we find we have to wait for food to be placed out. Staff always friendly and accommodating, dirty plates normally removed while we surf the buffet for refills. Only one time did we have a disappointing time and that was when we hosted a church group of about 15 for lunch. There were some complaints of the food cold, I found it sometimes warm not hot, but not cold. This was the only time I’ve experienced that problem. Wife and I usually eat out at lunch time mainly due to lower prices, and being retired it permits us to miss crowds.

Fine if you’ve want A LOT of food all at once, but the place never feels clean and serves up the most terrifically mediocre Chinese food in the area. Skip it and check out Tong Tong, Main Moon or King Dragon before going here.

If I would have written a review when this place first opened, It would have been a 5 star without a doubt. Service was top notch, the restaurant was clean, the food was awesome and the selection was just as good. However, over the last two years, this place has started to really … well… suck. I give it three stars because there is never a wait to sit down. Its a cozy atmosphere and they have hard ice cream. The downfalls: They CHARGEBYTHEPOUNDFORCRABLEGSNOW. WHAT??? Rip off. Secondly, they only put out small portions of food items at a time so you find yourself constantly waiting on something to be refilled. Another huge downfall is the slow service. It always takes a long time to be approached by a server for a drink order or to remove dirty plates from your table. The other issues I have with them are not enough beef/pork items on the buffet, the sushi selection is poor and its not fresh. The ice cream machine seems to always be out of order. BUMMER. And possibly my biggest pet peeve with this place is the filty restrooms. They are down right gross…

First of all, this place is HUGE. I went on a Saturday night and it was quite busy. There were a lot of options, including your traditional buffet fare, sushi, and hibachi grill. The food was hot and refreshed quickly. The bad: The egg rolls were a major letdown. The cabbage was roughly chopped and there was no seasoning at all which made for a very forgettable experience. The dumplings tasted good except that the dough was much too thick which meant that some areas were under cooked. The good: The crab rangoon(or fried cream cheese dumpling) were excellent as was their fried rice. The sesame chicken was crispy and sweet and the bourbon chicken was perfect. Didn’t get to try the hibachi because the line was long, but it looked very good, with fresh vegetables and an assortment of meats! If I am in the Chapel Hill area, I would go back to Royal Buffet, but it’s not my first choice for Chinese. It is very crowded with slightly above average food.

This is one of the few buffets of which I am a full-fledged-fan! The enormous selection of food,(there must be a couple-hundred items) is such that it precludes the possiblity that everything will be of top-shelf freshness. However, they do as good a job as is practicable in keeping the foodstuffs properly freshened and supplied. An early arrival for your meal helps insure optimum freshness of a maximum number of dishes. And if you’re inclined they have a surprisingly under-utilized station where one can select one’s protein and other fixin’s and have an absolutely fresh main dish made-to-order. Nothing bad to say at all, and reasonably priced as well. The dinner fare closely resembles the luncheon fare but at a higher price so go to lunch! The staff is usually fairly attentive and always polite.
