The portions are generous. The softserve is nice and creamy. Love their specialty flavors. My GF grew up in the area so Strickland’s is a veritable institution.

Would I drive 300 miles for Stricklands lemon custard? Yes! Alright, we were headed to Cleveland for a sightseeing trip anyway, but I could not resist a stop at my old favorite custard stand. The setting is astounding, in the shadow of the old Navy dirigible hanger. And the custard is also astounding. Soft, flavorful, and sweet. The perfect consistency and temperature every time I have been here. My two favorite flavors are lemon and chocolate. My only complaint is that they don’t always feature lemon. There have been visits when I could not get my fix. Lucky for me, on this trip they had the lemon custard.

My first choice for custard/ice cream when I’m in Akron. It was a nice snack for us between lunch and dinner. This Montrose location has an entrance facing Market St. and one facing the Acme shopping plaza. There’s no seating area, but I wolf down the ice cream so fast that I don’t even have time to sit. Flavors that day were chocolate, vanilla, and black cherry. We also utilized the free cake cone with Unilocal check in. Service was friendly and we were offered to taste samples of all flavors. The chocolate cone was satisfying enough for me. The classic dipper is something unique to Stricklands and makes it seem like you’re getting more bang for your buck. Stricklands is always memorable enough for me that we still and try to get to their location in Irvine, CA when we’re in the OC.

I am never disappointed by the ice cream or the service. My only disappointment is that I cannot visit every day!

What can I say. 4 succulent flavors every day. Nice rich custard that is not overly sweet. I can eat a small and call it a meal as it is that rich and filling. The banana is to die for on a sweltering Ohio summer afternoon(you know that 90 – 90 day). I was not initially sure about the banana but after a sample(just ask), I was sold on the banana. I have not had a bad flavor yet — orange-pineapple was another surprise and refreshing for a July day. My only complaint is that the unusual flavors that I can get at Jeni’s(best ice cream ever with corn in it) are lacking at Strickland’s in general. Nonetheless, I frequent Stricklands as the difference between Stricklands and Jeni’s is not worth a drive from Akron to Chagrin Falls. Try Stricklands once and you will never return to the Cold Stone in Fairlawn.

Place is a mess. No trash cans outside. Limited napkins. Ice cream all over the sidewalks and windows of neighboring businesses.

This place reminds me of Culver’s out in MN/WI. They serve four flavors of their frozen custard each day, and it is absolutely delicious! The inside(and actually even the outside) is nothing to look at, and you’d probably miss it if you weren’t looking for the place. However, the treats served inside will have you coming back for more. I know I’ll be back here again soon!

This is one of my favorite places in the world! When I was a kid there was just the one location by the blimp hanger and you didn’t know what the flavors would be until you got there. It was always such a treat! It’s awesome that there are more locations now. There’s even one in Irvine, CA now, so if I get a craving strong enough it will only be a 2 hour drive instead of a 5 hour flight! The banana ice cream is my absolute favorite. When they don’t have banana(the vast majority of the time, sadly) I get a chocolate banana milkshake. So tasty!

I think this is the one by my grandma’s house. I’m not from Ohio, so I’m not sure. But so long as Strickland’s is a chain and they are all comparable, my review still stands. They have lots of lovely flavors to choose from, as well as all the old standby’s. I love Sticklands, they have the best ice cream ever. There is nothing better than sitting outside of Sticklands on a muggy summer evening with an ice cream cone in your hand. Wish I were back there.

If ice cream is pretty, than frozen custard is gorgeous, and Strickland’s has four gorgeous daily flavours on tap every single day. Because of the way it is made, frozen custard needs to be made pretty well every day which means that there is a wide variety of daily flavours. Our stop at this location of Akron’s Stricklands, tucked away in a strip mall, was short as we were en route on the Interstate. But it was satisfying as we indulged in vanilla, chocolate and pumpkin cones. All reasonably priced, generously portioned and tasty tasty.

EDIT: NOOO, WHYAREYOUCLOSED ;_; Best ice cream in the world. Yeah, I’ve tried Handel’s and Cold Stone. A small cone is the size of a normal large cone anywhere else. A medium cone is too big. A large cone is big enough for a small village. Baby cones are perfect, and pretty cheap. Fresh banana is my favorite flavor, when they have it.
