Phở is the reason you should visit. Vietnamese food is scarce on local menus. To find this most delicious and authentic soup closer than Cleveland made me ECSTATIC! I’ll be honest and admit that I didn’t thoroughly read the menu once my eyes found what my stomach(heart)was after. The other dishes may be outstanding as well. Taste’s phở absolutely delivered! Nice large portion complete with accompanying veg plate. Excellent flavors including the CRUCIAL cilantro. Just gives the best literal and figurative warm feeling!(it is to be noted: service may not be five star. The restaurant is barely off-campus of U of A; these college students are just trying to get on to bigger better things. Cut ‘em some slack, tip ‘em a few extra bucks)

Someone once told me that Taste of Bangkok has the best green curry ANDTHEYWERERIGHT. sometimes I try green curry at other restaurants, just to see if there is a better green curry out there and I just end up feeling dumb and disappointed. WHY would I think there was a better green curry. The tofu soup and spring rolls are also great for a quick light lunch.

I love their Thai noodle dishes, you can not go wrong with any of them! It’s one of the cheaper Thai places in the area as well. I like it better than Cilantro but it does take forever to get the check taken care of at the end of the meal. If they could improve their service, I would give them a 5 star in a heartbeat. But I often have a great time eating but getting frustrated when I have to pay. The waiters aren’t very friendly either. Perhaps they should have people pay as they leave or somehow change the system so we don’t have to spent more time waiting to pay than eating.

Food is pretty good and inexpensive. I used to love going here for lunch but the service has gone downhill in a big way lately and the portion sizes seem to have gotten smaller. I would rather spend my money at other Thai restaurants in the area so that’s what I’m going to do.

They have really good food but their service is absolutely terrible. Trying to eat here during lunch hours is a nightmare.

Seeing that we have limited options in Canton, my daughter and I love to travel to Akron and Cleveland for a variety of ethnic food choices. We happened to find this place when we were hungry for a cheap lunch– this is an ideal college student’s budget yummy lunch. I had Spicy Basil Fried Rice with tofu… and my daughter had the regular fried rice with chicken. It came with the soup. It was decent and appropriate for a lunch. They will make it spicy according to your preference. I had to ask for the hot sauces– I usually go with chili paste oil… I assume they were afraid that I was the typical person who over assumes of their spiciness level but little did they know that I love SPICY– can do #10 on the scale.

Great Tom yum soup. Flavor profile is authentic. Love it. Spice level is totally tailor made to your taste. Price point is perfect.

Don’t let the exterior fool you. Good service. Large and varied menu. Delicious and reasonably priced. Great find for vegetarians!

Received a warm greeting and was quickly sat at a very clean table. Not a lot of people in there this afternoon but the food was outstanding! I had the Tom Ka soup and the red curry with chicken.

The place is great and the service are too. Order the chicken basil fried rice with spicy for lunch and the food didn’t take long to come out. Love the taro bubble tea and crab rangoon(:

Glad to have found this place while passing through Akron. Located right off the highway 8 ramp, it was a short distance from I76, and worth the 10 minute detour to have dinner from a local restaurant with many vegetarian options. The food was good. This might be one of Ohio’s best according to other reviewers, and we enjoyed the fresh salads and soup, but the flavors were all muted, perhaps to satisfy Midwestern pallets? If you’re a fan of authentic Thai flavors, adjust your expectations accordingly to understand the 4 star rating. The interior is surprisingly charming though the exterior wouldn’t suggest it, and the service was friendly. They do have bubble teas, but they’re all made from powder bases, so no way to adjust the level of sweetness. Overall, happy it exists in Akron.

Best place around for Thai/Asian food. I always go once a week, i used to go twice a week when have sushi at lunch but they only have sushi at dinner now. I don’t mind as they regular food is awesome. I always get pineapple fried rice with pork spice level 1, Thai dumplings and Thai tea. There pad Thai is awesome, golden ring, crispy rolls and the Phở is the best I’ve had around. I’ve had phở in cleveland, canton, akron and a few other places and this is the best. The staff and owners are super nice and it has a very nice atmosphere. I hope they bring lunch sushi back, I’ll cut it myself! As Hunan of Akron is out of business and I don’t like Cilantro Thai’s sushi or regular food that much.

Very much a four star! Loved this place. Polite waiters easy to get to. We didn’t wait long for our order at all. I had the black tea, that was nice. I ordered the Triple flavored fish. I had the choice between fish which was a pleasantly unexpected. When the fish came out it looked delicious and it was sooo much better than my imagination lol. The sauce could be put on a boot it was that tasty. I did have to order a side of white rice, bc thats just how i like fried fish. It was one buck. Only one small thing, i think the wok wasn’t big enough for the entire fish to be submerged. I would’ve preferred my fish tail to have been crispy. But thats nothing I tell ya nothing. Go and order it Mmmmm good.

Best kept secret in Akron, Ohio. Im a vegetarian and am a huge fan of the Drunken Tofu. The veggie sushi options are tasty as well but for some unfathomable reason they don’t serve sushi at lunch. I can’t figure it out, they are packed for lunch, no reason not to do sushi. I have had bad service there but usually it is above average. I like the Bubble Tea as well. I eat at TOB once a week, would probably be there more if they had lunch sushi. The prices are amazingly reasonable as well. There are other good thai and/or sushi places in Akron but none with the total package of quality, low price, and consistency that TOB has.

Strictly OK. They are located in a nice place, but I would have expected more for the money I paid. Normally for the money I spent here, I’d get something that tastes really good in the quantity they gave(which is similar to what you’d get a a nicer restaurant) or something that tastes the way they make it(ok) in a larger quantity.

We will make a return trip across town: our new favorite asian restaurant. Visited on a Friday night. You know it is authentic when asian families and students are dining. Location is very convenient to Akron U on Exchange St, but I would have never found it without Unilocal. My jumbo sushi roll was truly jumbo and full of nuanced flavor. Prices are good for what you get. Five stars.

Was really hoping to like this place. I think our server was horrible, which therefor, made the whole experience worse. I won’t go into detail but I had a hard time leaving a 15% tip! Based on service, I would never return. The food wasn’t balanced, in my opinion. For example, I ordered a curry dish & hardly had any rice, but had tons of green beans– I mean tons. It was so runny, too. The shrimp roll barely had any shape to it– my 9 year old could’ve rolled it better. Everything was poorly executed. I wasn’t impressed with anything here. Seriously, our server was so rude, we almost thought it was a set up for a comedy show or something. You’ve been warned!

As a California native, I can’t stop craving Asian food, luckily I found this place nearby the U of Akron for my asian fix. This place also reminds me of Thai Basil in Berkeley area, however nicer décor and also better food presentation. I have been coming here multiple times in the past 5 days. For my first visit, I ordered the PADSEEEWW. I think they skimped out on the amount of food this time, however the quality is definitely there. For my second visit, I ordered THAIBASILFRIEDRICE with CHICKEN. I LOVETHIS! Although it is a bit too spicey for me, I love how every bite brings me back to Thailand! You can’t go wrong with this place if you need to get your asian fix. The price is quite reasonable for poor college students who wants to go out on typical dates. You can also sit on the bar, if you order sushi and prefer to stay near the bear. I also love their service! Absolutely, much more attentive staff compared to $$$$$ restaurants I’ve been to in Boston and Los Angeles. I gave them a big FAT tips at the end! Thank you Taste of Bangkok for making me feel like home here in Ohio!
