They have cool stuff but if you want to take it home you will pay top dollar. This isn’t your regular second hand store as it seen every item is hand picked for nostalgia and vintage appeal. I prefer to do my own picking but if you need that piece of furniture or accessory to add that retro look or just want to see some relics from the times gone by check it out its worth the stop.

The best vintage shop I have ever been to. The Bomb Shelter is worth driving to from Cleveland. Too many cool things to name.

Awesome consignment/antique shop. Although they have quite a lot of unique, specialty items that are higher prices, overall the items here are reasonably priced. What I liked most about this place was that it’s really well organized. Unlike most other vintage shops that are a clustermuffin of junk in which you have to rummage through to find what you want, this place is artfully but also practically sorted, so you can find all the kitchen stuff together, all the kitschy owl figurines together, all the vintage clothing together, etc. I ended up finding exactly what I wanted(a few wooden crates) easily because they were all sorted in the same area, which really helps keep you from being overwhelmed. This place is also bigger than you expect, and you can easily spend an hour or two browsing. And of course– don’t miss your chance to try out the vintage video games in the front!

Just plain awesome! So many fabulous items from all eras! Went here with my mom and we both loved it! The Bomb Shelter is a true gem in the heart of Akron!

My dad and I frequent this place — even wnen we don’t buy any merchandise — it’s a lovely place that offers our younger selves a chance to stroll through a midcentury dream. There have been items that I’ve seen here that I’ve never seen in person before — what a thrill! I encourage dreamers to visit The Bomb Shelter, if not to purchase, but to wander through that Dreamland of yesteryear that gives you hope for the future. It appears that there are new items each week — items which transcend Art Deco to Midcentury. If you’re at the right place at the right time you can certainly take advantage of the offerings of the Bomb Shelter. Otherwise, you can visit a place in time where your Mom cooked dinner after school, and your Dad had a martini before dinner. I LOVE The Bomb Shelter!

Stopped by for the first time and the vinyl section alone rates the Bomb Shelter 5 stars. It was a short visit(I’ll be back) but the selection, quality and ease of viewing the LPs is top notch.

This used to be the place to go, sadly who ever is doing the buying for them has turned it into a high end thrift store. If I want stuff that hasn’t moved in the six months since my last visit I will hit the antique stores in the Falls. The televisions in the back are cool but none are for sale. The vintage motorcycle place had some bikes in the showroom but they have been exiled. It was nice while it lasted but now it’s not worth going into that part of town. Greed and quality vs quality has killed another one. :(

This is not only one of the best consignment/vintage stores I’ve been to, it’s by far the largest. Every corner seems to open up into a new vast world of perfectly designed vintage vignettes. They have everything from well-kept vintage clothing to period furniture to taxidermy to industrial back to knickknacks and jewelry and records. The prices seemed fair to expensive, depending on the item — but I’m not really an expert there. For instance, most of the vintage clothing seemed super expensive to me, but a lot of the«art» is more than reasonable. For instance, I’m thinking about going back for the near-life-sized demon girl statue as a gift for a friend. It seems underpriced at $ 169. They also have a super sweet dog that roams around the compound. This place is awesome!

This museum-like space makes you feel like you’re in LA and I don’t mean«Lower Akron»! The collections are meticulously merchandised and will interest shoppers and spectators of all ages. I love how fluid the space is– no dead ends or narrow aisles. Look up and down and enjoy the streaming of alternative music. The space is interesting, dynamic and fun and the collections represent infinite time wraps! The Bomb Shelter is porn for set designers!

This is one of the best stores of this type I have been in. These vintage items are all clean and well organized. We were really wowed when we got to the back of the store and saw the large display of old televisions… I thought I had stepped into a time warp. Very cool. We also purchased an item from the Bomb Shelter on eBay. They shipped immediately and the item was just as described in their eBay listing.

Awesome vintage shop. There is a women’s clothes section with super old dresses and other clothes, all in great condition. Ultra old stoves and ranges. Doodads and many other things. It’s hard to describe since there any so many varied things they have to offer.

I can’t believe my husband has kept this place a secret from me for 3 yrs, probably because I want to purchase almost everything in this cute, clean & organized time warp! They have a wonderful stash of old leaded windows, men & womens clothing, and everything in between. Not much of a selection when it came to vintage jewelry though but no biggie. There’s this awesome blue & white camper I would love to get my hands on… if your remodeling your home & want to add true character they have old fireplace mantels, doors, and furniture, etc… They even have a T.V. Museum! Seriously– it’s the only section of the store where you can’t buy anything. Out of all my vintage shop adventures, this is easily the cleanest and very fairly priced :) Can’t wait to go back!!!

Has the«Bomb shelter is the bomb!» joke been made yet? Cause, it really is! I love this place and the staff are so very friendly. Things are very affordable and reasonably priced. Great vintage clothing selection!

I can’t quite compare this place to anywhere else. It is such a huge gathering of random Americana. If you found the most interesting thing at someone’s garage sale, it would be here. They have collected the most interesting thing from 5000 garage sales. Crazy Akron stuff like tire molds. WWII rations. If you collect anything, it is probably here.

Absolutely. Amazing. If you love retro, vintage, awesome stuff, GOHERE. It’s a massive space that’s filled to the brim with all kinds of great stuff. Very, very reasonable prices too. I was just passing through Akron and decided on a whim to stop in and check it out. I ended up getting a vintage drive-in movie sign, a vintage Sprite sign and a double gum ball machine. Yeah, awesome. Damon, you’re the man. Many thanks!

I’m having a hard time putting my feelings for the Bomb Shelter into words, so forgive me if this gets rambly and incoherent. This place has an almost unending collection of everything from antique furniture and décor to mid-century modern kitsch. If you’re a collector of just about anything, you WILL find it here. This is, without question, the largest store of its kind that I have ever seen. Give yourself plenty of time to wander. Browsing here gives you a feeling of wandering though an Americana museum… except better, because you can buy everything! I’ve been curating kitschy tiki bar items for a while, and on my first visit to the Bomb Shelter, I scored the ultimate tiki bar wall décor: a velvet Elvis. For thirty dollars. Suffice to say, the prices are reasonable! This is a place I cannot wait to go back to, but for the sake of my wallet, I probably should!

What a great, eclectic selection of MANtiques, reasonably priced. From the huge neon letters, to the tiki furniture, to the iron garden sculptures, to the genuine wax paper Burger Chef drink cup, this place is loaded with stuff that you never realized that you needed. It is like a retro museum, but everything is for sale!
