Great place to practice Aikido, very simple and peaceful setup. First time here and I enjoyed the spirit and kindness of people. Convenient parking. Could not wait to come back.

This place is such a special place to learn and grow no matter how old you are. I have found that since signing up for the adult class, my moods have improved. I am much more patient that normal. When training, the negative energy, stress all gets released and I feel … LIGHTER. It’s an amazing feeling.
I’m still nervous at times, but because the members are all so friendly, and everyone is there with an open mind to learn that my shyness and ‘anti-​social’ personality is slowly fading away. I am looking forward to a wonderful long-​term relationship with this art and especially at this very dojo.

First time taking a conditioning class, didn’t know what to expect. Best decision I’ve made in a very long time! Always been a fan of boxing… and what we do tonight Boxing!!! And let me tell you that first punch felt amazing hitting the boxing pads. The instructor makes you feel welcome and encourage you to work at a comfortable pace. Will I be attending more classes hell yea and I encourage you to join me I could use a partner in crime and for only $ 7 every Wednesday it’s well worth it! It’s good for individual get away, group workouts and family time activities. See you next class!

I don’t know anything about the aikido program here, but I decided to take the Self Defense and Conditioning class offered here through the city’s park department. The weekly classes are held at what I guess is an aikido studio. As I later learned, there weren’t very many participants of the class who signed up through the park department. About half of the participants appear to be regular students of the aikido classes and evidently just show up to get exercise. No matter, because everyone is super friendly.
The instructor runs the aikido classes and is great. Very friendly guy. He’s in fabulous shape, of course, and he is very encouraging but doesn’t force you to «go for the burn». The first hour involves lots of wonderful stretching and a lot of cardio exercise. The last half hour involves boxing with training gloves and pads for sparring. Also great cardio exercise and fun too.
Everything here seems very authentic to me. The class before us involved teens and kids and was taught with Japanese terminology. They were in white uniforms and the large room looked very authentic and featured a huge canvas padded room-​sized mat.

I am enrolled in the parks and rec conditioning and self defense class. Great class, everyone moves at their own pace. No need to keep up with everyone. Very supportive instructor.

I have trained at Alameda Aikido for awhile. I have found the Chief Instructor very passionate and dedicated to faithful transmission of the martial art. The Members are very friendly and really help a new beginner feel at home and learn Aikido. Aikido has helped me improve my stamina, balance, flexibility and awareness.

I joined the dojo a few months ago, and I can’t emphasize enough what a positive experience it has been for me. Everyone is very friendly and supportive, and the passion of the members for the Art is simply infectious. Sensei is a master in the true meaning of the word: he not only teaches us the finer technical points and their practical applications for self-​defense, but also embodies the philosophy and spirit of Aikido. I guarantee that if you come train at Alameda Aikikai, you will not only learn how to defend yourself, you will be better equipped to deal with the many kinds of challenges that naturally arise in daily life.
