The ribs I got today are all pink not even cooked. I might as well have BBQ myself then get this crap I had to finish cooking 20 mins. The links were fine.

Hugely disappointed. Loved their location in Hayward and was excited to know this one was opening. However, this location doesn’t even compare in terms of quality. It may be new and better set up but the BBQ was terrible. Everything I got was overcooked and over priced.

Stopped in for dinner with 2 friends one night. Enjoyed the BBQ and the mac n cheese. Not a lot of vegetarian options for my friend. Not bad for the price, but not the most magnificent BBQ I’ve had in Oakland. Still, a good spot if you’re looking for something fairly quick and worth your buck.

Overpriced and bland. We got a meal for 2 to sample all four meat varieties. The best thing were the beef links, but meh. The cornbread muffin was dry, the side of greens was a joke(a ham bone took up 50% of the space in the take-out container), but at least there was a lot of meat. Everything was drenched in sauce, so if that’s your thing, maybe you’ll be happy.

It’s been a while since I’ve to E&J’s, always one of my favorites. I had the ribs platter and I have to say that about half of the slab was burnt to a black crisp making for an unpleasant experience as it was very dried out. I had a couple of pieces that were like what I was used to a number of years ago, but overall didn’t make up for the mostly dried and burnt pieces. If you’re in a hurry, forget about it. If you’re remotely patient and hungry for BBQ and in the area, go for it. I was second in line with no one else before us waiting for their food and it took about 20 mins to get my order once I paid. As I watched the guys preparing the food, by all appearances, the ribs were sitting in the warmer and it seems that he was working on many slabs — none of which belonging to anyone in the restaurant waiting for their food. It was a ridiculous wait for something that’s already cooked and just half to be portioned out and put into a takeout tray. Worth the wait? Not this time as noted in the first paragraph and the wait just compounded the negative experience. Taste of the sauce is always good though. I’d go again to see if it different.

Before my mild obsession with all things Hello Kitty, I was once a Pippo gal. So, it’s suffice to say that I have had a love relationship with pigs, really all my life. In particular, pork. It’s kinda disturbing to think that you enjoy eating something you once collected. Very Hannibal Lector. Everett & Jones– well, if you like Southern BBQ, I’m talking ribs, baked beans, collards, corn bread, then here’s your place. But, let me warn you, the portions are disgustingly enormous. I mean, at the time, eating all those ribs sound lovely, but when you get home and you still have a slab of ribs left, you kinda think, «yeah, I’m good.» I suggest that you go famish… don’t eat all day… and just go to town when you get here. Get your napkins ready because you’re going to need a lot of them. Or maybe, you’re the finger-licking person. In that case, you’re going to be licking a lot of BBQ sauce off your fingers. Get your fill because you’re not going to want to come back for a long, long time. My personal recommendations: the collards and the corn bread. Can’t get more O.G. than that. Word up, homies!

WHOA. And all I can say is Woah. My friend told me about this place because he saw it on the travel channel. I was skeptical at first, seeing that it’s in Oakland, but I was willing to try it. As soon as we walked in, we were instantly greeted by two very nice ladies, who complimented us on our shirts(well done!). The menu is very simple, BUTAWESOME. I got the 4 meat combo, just cause I wanted a little bit of everything, and my favorite meat might have been the beef. The ribs were great, the hot links were awesome, and the chicken was superb. I also got a fruit punch to drink, and the waiter went ahead and gave us refills without asking. The cornbread muffins were AWESOME! WILLCOMEBACKHERESOON! VERYAWESOMEPLACE!

Good things : 1. Their lemonade is delicious, it’s honey flavored. 2. Their cornbread! WHO the hell would get anything else? 3. Their ribs, good sauce. 4. Fun decorations. Not so okai things: 1. Their side dishes aren’t so impressive. Candied yams seem like they’re from the cans. Their mac and cheese was a bit dry. and their cole slaw was eh. 2. Beer selection is MEDIOCRE! they need a better selection. If you’re going to sell amazing bbq and meat you need a amazing side of beer to wash it down! no? is that just me? 3. Their parking. o i’m sorry. their lack of parking. overall, i would go there again but don’t be impressed by their sides or beer selection.

Holy cow. Came here in December for bro in-law’s birthday. Had a little bit of everything. I’d venture into Raider Nation again — risk my heart health for that bit of heaven again.

This place was not terrible, but I wouldn’t go back again. Sauce was delicious but the brisket was dry and the ribs were dripping in grease. I thought the sides were overly mixed with sweet relish, but that’s just personal preference. When I ordered wheat bread with dinner I thought I would get some freshly baked bread; pretty disappointed when it was store bought wheat bread straight from the plastic bag. Service was a wash; quick on refills, but took forever to get the check.

This is probably the only place where BBQ is done right. The atmosphere is superb and you can forget about utensils. I order there massive 39.95 platter for me and two other adult males and we do it «carnivore» style. Just keep those fresh lemonades coming. I’m a big fan of sweet potato and they do it justice. I’ve brought my family here and they easily enjoyed it. Superb!

The food there is GREAT! I went with two of my friends and we came with a full stomach, but since we’re in the neighborhood and one of our friend was raving about the food, we decided to just order one of the combinations and share. We got the ribs, chicken, and beef combo with homemade veggie, candy yam, and corn bread for the sides. The drinks come in those«jam» jars so I think that’s kind of neat, they also put utensils in copped/bronze teapots. The waiter was wonderful, he did give us a funny look when he realize 3 people are ordering only one meal, but he was just being funny and friendly.(He later joked how we still didn’t manage to finish the food, like I said, we were full!) So the food didn’t take too long to get prepared, I don’t remember waiting for a long time. I first tried the ribs and the meat just slides off the bone, it was delicious. I’m not a fan of BBQ sauce because I’m more of a light-flavored person, but I didn’t mind this one. It wasn’t too rich, but it was good to my taste-buds. The beef was good as well. And then it comes to the chicken. As many reviewers would know, the chicken is always the type of meat that every restaurant can easily messed up on. 80% of the time, you’ll end up with a dry chicken, but not THISTIME! I was surprise to find the chicken pretty tender. What I like most is that everything is already pre-cut for you. No wonder I didn’t see any knives at my table! Now comes to the sides, I have nothing to complain about. The candy yam was delicious, I like sweets. The cornbread is okay, I definitely had better somewhere else. The homemade veggie, now that’s a surprise for me. It’s definitely good, but what was surprising is that I recognize it as «dried bak choi soup». If you don’t know what I’m talking about, it’s because that is a type of Chinese soup. So it was weird for me to find a chinese soup served as a side in a BBQ joint. Nonetheless, it was amazing! I will definitely go again, very soon in the future. And this time, I’m going in with an empty stomach so I can take it all in!

I like the sauce. It’s too bad the meats aren’t a little better. They say«pulled pork» sandwich on the menu but it’s actually rather dry(sometimes burned) sliced pork with a lot of fat on it, slapped on a dry bun and a little tiny cup of the good sauce to dip it in. To me, pulled pork means it is shredded and fork tender, dripping in sauce. I can do way better at home with my slow cooker and a jar of their sauce from Safeway.(they sell it there now) The prices are pretty insane too. The combo meals my husband likes are $ 20.

This location is closed! They have moved to Webster St. on the other end of town. The food is quite good but I found the service while nice was slow and disorganized. I ordered take-away several times and had to go back more than once to have them fix my order.

FOOD. DELICIOUS. BOTTOMLINE. I came here with a small group, 4 of us. We came at a good time, right before the dinner rush so there were not many people there. The feel of this place is so home-y. With a full bar and a nice big-screen TV to watch a game, whatever you choose to have for lunch/dinner will complete your day. Okay, on to the food… The food is ABSOLUTELY delicious! ABSOLUTELY! As there were 4 of us, we ordered plenty to go around the table. With a slab of ribs(medium spicy because I, unfortunately, cannot handle fire-spicy), two sides of baked beans, two sides of the homemade greens(simple yet superb), two sides of potato salad, and four rolls of cornbread(which are thee best cornbread rolls I have EVER tasted!), we certainly had a complete feast. The ribs were cooked PERFECTLY, a significant emphasis on «perfectly.» The meat was not too overdone, there was just enough spice in every bite, and the flavor and juicy-ness of the ribs are unbelievable. Once you start eating, with the ribs, you just have to feast on the rest of the food. And there’s no stopping from there. After that first bite into the first rib, you just can’t stop yourself from what else is on the table. Every side dish we had just enhanced the meat; obviously the heart of the meal. Every bite of food was simple perfection. Revel in the sauce of the ribs… drown yourself in it. :) Certainly we were in the area for an engagement, but I would drive 45 minutes from home to have a REAL perfected rack of ribs. I can’t wait to come back here again, for whatever reason. P. S. Don’t wear a white, beige, or any other light-colored shirt, or bring an extra one. With your focus completely on the food, your mind most likely won’t be on keeping your clothes clean.

Everett and Jones is serving up some amazing BBQ! After some beers on Jack London Square, we wandered over, only to find there was a 20 minute wait, which is insane, because the place must hold at least 100 people. It’s worth the wait, fo sho! The place is super homey with warm colors on the walls and lots of friendly folks around. As soon as you’re seated waters, ice teas and beers are passed around in mason jars. We tried the braised beef and the BBQ chicken, and I love that you can get your sauce mild, medium and spicy. I ordered the medium because that’s what Tyra orders when she goes there(fo’ real!), and it was spiiiiicy fierce. Gotta love that kick. The sides were good too, from the cole slaw to the baked beans to the sweet yams. Thank you Oaktown for having some seriously finger licking good BBQ.

This E&J BBQ is AWESOME! I’ve only eaten at this one twice, but both times I was pleased. The ribs here are a bit more smokey and spicy than normal, and I like that. Last time my parents were in there, they brought me home a Louisiana smoked sausage with some sauce on it. The cook said he «made a mistake» and made it «too hot». I bit into it, and damn it was spicy, but it was GOOD. I will definitely be back for more BBQ.

Being a big fan of barbeque joints I had high hopes for this one. The food delivered. The meat was not dry, nor fatty and the sauce was not too tangy, smoky or hot. The sides? Pretty good, with the yams being the standout. Truly one of the better bbq places I have found in the EB, and far better than anything that can be had in San Francisco. Minus one star for the price/quantity ratio — I am not sure if the people that run this place have ever been to their competitors but they might want to swing by. I could knock someone out with a takeout bag at most of the places I have been to. Here I could possible shoo a fly, but more likely it would just eat my food.
